BABY LYCAN
CHAPTER 76: BABY LYCAN
~ Selene (Moon Goddess) ~
“Well Selene, it looks like you found a way to interfere without actually being there, didn’t you?”
“I told you, don’t tell me I can’t help my children. Did you want to be bothered with Hades? Neither did I.” I said back to him.
“You're lucky we grew close to the girl from birth. I wouldn’t let this pass for just anyone. Their powers would have come eventually without your interference.” He said back to me.
“Yeah, then we would have all been down there fighting to send Hades back to hell! All you want to do is sit on that throne and watch everything like it’s a soap opera. Loosen up, will you! We are going to see the first baby Lycan being born, and I can’t WAIT!” He rubbed his face like he was exhausted because of me, but I saw his grin. He didn’t want to admit it, but he would have interfered if I hadn't.
~ Harper’s POV ~
We finally made it back to the packhouse. The battle lasted overnight, and the sun was high in the sky. I feel exhausted, as I step into the shower. The steam from the hot water was billowing up to the ceiling. I stepped under the hot stream and slid down the shower wall. I took a deep breath and released it, as if I had been holding it since this nightmare had first begun. I place my hand on my stomach. I am going to be a mother. What a way to find out! Blood was flowing out of my hair, down my skin and sinking into the drain. Gabriel stepped into the shower and sat down against the wall next to me. He pulled me into his lap so that my back was against his chest. He placed his chin on my shoulder and his hands on my stomach. My heart was beating so fast and hard in my chest. I don’t know why Thane is gone. I don’t have to worry about whether or not Gabriel and I will get to be together. Is it the fact that I am going to be a mother? He is the father of my pup. I bit my lip and felt little butterflies in my stomach.
“You were great today, Harper. I still wish you wouldn’t have been there, but I don’t know how things would have ended up if you hadn't been. You’re amazing.” He said to me. I turned to face him.
“Gabriel, there will be no war, fight, or battle that you will be walking into without me. You are my mate, and I am yours. We stay together.” He kissed me. He placed his hand on my stomach again and rubbed little swirls around with his thumb. He leaned his forehead against mine.
“I’m going to be a father.” He said, with a smile that spread over his teeth. I grinned.
“And I am going to be a mother.” I said, smiling back. After our shower we both got in bed. He closed his blinds and I snuggled into his chest. “Gabe?” I said.
“Hmm?” He replied.
“Can I move into your room now?” He raised himself over top of me.
“What do you mean can you? The arrangements have already been made. Kelly will make sure your stuff is in OUR room by tomorrow.” He kissed me. “I will not be spending another night without you.” I smiled into his shoulder. He wrapped his strong arms around me, and I let myself relax into him. Sleep quickly took us.
***FIVE MONTHS LATER ***
~ Harper’s POV ~
I thought Gabriel was going to be calmer than this. I am the one having the baby and he is the one sweating. He has been overprotective for the past five months. He would hardly let me walk to the restroom myself. If I coughed or simply sneezed, he would freak out thinking there was something wrong with the baby.
“Why didn’t anyone tell me it was going to be this hard?” He said out loud.
“Because it’s not supposed to be hard for you!” I screamed as a hard contraction hit me.
“Push Harper!” I was screaming Tanner, Kelly, and Kai were staring through the window that was in a corner away from all the action between my legs. Gabe was holding my hand so tight. “What if it’s a boy?” He said.
“Then we will love him as our son and future Alpha.” I said through breathless pushes.
“What if it’s a girl? Tell me why we didn’t want to know the gender again.” He said.
“Then we will love her as our daughter. She will still be an Alpha.” I said taking a breath to prepare for the next push.
“Hell yeah, toughest kid on the block. Gender doesn't matter. Oh, my Goddess!” Gabe started freaking out even worse than he already was. His face paled and his mouth took on the shape of an O.
“I see the head!” My doctor yelled out. A nurse brought a blanket to my side of the bed. “I HAVE THE SHOULDERS OUT! ONE MORE PUSH HARPER!” I took a deep breath and used all the strength I had left and pushed as hard as I could. I was breathing fast as exhaustion was setting in. A loud wailing cry brought me back from the brink of sleep. I opened my eyes to see Gabriel giving me a big smile. I looked toward the nurse. She brought a tiny little thing over to me and placed it on my chest. “Congratulations King Gabriel and Queen Harper. You have a healthy baby girl.” Tears fell from my eyes. Gabriel leaned down and wrapped his arms around both of us. My baby girl’s cries quieted down immediately as she recognized Gabriel and I as her mother and father.
“Welcome to the world princess.” Gabe said while playing with her little hands. He leaned over and gave me a kiss.
“My Willow.” I whispered.
*** NINETEEN YEARS AGO ***
Harper watched as the dragon elders worked to extract their prince out of the terminal stone. It has been a few months now, but they are finally close. That poor child. He has been stuck in that stone for centuries. The elders couldn’t just crack the stone open. They were afraid that it may harm the child.
“Alright everyone, it shouldn’t be long now.” Said dragon King Layden. Suddenly, a bright blue light shot from the red stone. The colors combined to create a beautiful purple. The color only got brighter as everyone in the room anxiously waited for the child to emerge. Harper prayed that nothing bad happens. King Layden has been away from his young son for far too long. He lost his wife after they were attacked by Iris, the original witch who kidnapped the young prince to use as a soul sacrifice. Harper hates to even think about that witch. I am just glad she can’t hurt anyone else, she thought. Gabriel, Harper’s mate, killed the witch over nineteen years ago. “It’s happening!” The king said. He was barely able to contain his excitement. The temperature started rising in the large room. It was hard for Lycans and werewolves to stand the heat, but Harper was determined to stay as long as she could to support the King and finally see the boy freed.
“It’s melting!” One of the dragon elders said. Everyone was laser focused on the stone. Sure, enough the stone was melting. Purple started to fade to a beautiful blue. The beautiful colors continued to get bigger and brighter. Only moments after the stone had completely melted, the bright blue light started taking the shape of a child. The child looked to be nearly 40” tall. They all watched in wonder as his features started to appear, and before Harper knew it, she was staring at two big bright blue eyes. Gasps could be heard all around the room. Cries echoed off the stone walls, reflecting decades of sorrow finally coming to an end. King Layden hit his knees, and into his arms ran a handsome little boy. The Dragon Prince was finally home.
“Daddy! I was waiting for you.” Tears swelled in her eyes, as she watched the heartwarming reuniting of father and son. King Layden hugged his son tightly as if he was afraid to let him go. In the crowd of onlookers stood an older lady who was not ashamed to let her large tears fall. That was the boy’s grandmother.
“Oh Son, how I have missed you.” King Layden cried as he continued to hold his son tightly. The boy pulled away and looked up to his father.
“Daddy, where’s Mother?”
