HE WON'T FACE YOU ALONE

CHAPTER 59: HE WON'T FACE YOU ALONE
~ Harper’s POV ~

After dinner it was already dark outside, but we decided to go for a run. It looked like it was about to storm but Gabe and I wanted to let Mia and Mika out. They were becoming restless and needed this. Gabriel let Tanner and Kai know that we were going for a run, and we left the packhouse. We walked deep into the woods until we found a spot where we could undress to shift. Before I started to undress, I felt Gabriel’s arms slide around my waist from behind. I smiled to myself; I love how he makes me feel. He quickly turned me around and gently backed me into a tree. He leaned down into my neck and breathed in my scent. He gently kissed my marking spot.
“Baby, I have missed you. Stay with me tonight.” He said. While grazing his teeth along the skin of my neck. Sweet shivers rolled over my body. He is good, but I am not falling for it. The wind started picking up and the tops of the trees started to tilt with its force. I quickly gave Gabriel a peck on the lips and bent under his arm. Then I shifted into my large Lycan. I didn’t get undressed. There is no way that Gabriel would let me get away from him if I was standing in front of him in all my glory. It’s not that I don’t want him, believe me I do. I just like when he chases me. I looked back at Gabriel and gave him a wink before I took off into the forest.
“Are you running from me?” I heard him say. He sounded surprised. “Running will do you no good my little Lycan.” Before I knew it, I heard heavy paws stomping up behind me. I laughed and told Mia to go faster. She was enjoying this just as much as I was.
“He thinks he is fast, doesn’t he? Let’s make him work for it!” Mia said and shot forward at an unbelievable speed. We moved between trees quickly, changing our course often so he couldn’t follow us easily. Gabe was as fast as me, so I had to outsmart him. I didn’t see or hear him behind me, so I ducked behind a tree and waited for him to get nearby. Mia giggled in my head. She knew what we were planning to do. I heard fast breathing and heavy stomping of Mika running up on me. I peeked out from beside the tree and saw him stop and hold his nose in the air. He was tracking us by our scent. That is what I was expecting. He knew I was close, so he continued slowly. I was silently moving from one tree to the other until I made my way back behind him. Mia couldn’t hold in her excitement, and neither could I. Once Gabe was in the position we were waiting on. Mia launched forward. It is unreal how silent she is to be such a large Lycan. Gabriel turned just in time to see us in midair as we landed on top of him. We both rolled and tumbled over top of each other until we came to a stop at the bottom of an embankment.

I giggled knowing that I caught him off guard. When he stood up and had twigs and leaves and dirt all over his coat, I busted out laughing. He gave me a playful growl. I stood up ready to play some more, but Gabe’s growl became aggressive, and his eyes looked malicious.
“Gabe? What’s wrong?” I asked him. Before he could respond Mia threw us back to the ground just in time for Gabriel to launch himself over us and catch a wolf midair. It was dead before he even hit the ground. I quickly stood up and looked in front of us. There were four large wolves facing off with Gabriel.
“Not this time.” I growled. “He won't face you alone.” Anger coursed through my body, and I was out for blood. Gabe didn’t seem surprised when I passed him full speed and landed on top of a brown wolf. I easily tore his throat out and greedily moved to the next one. It yipped and tried to run but I was too quick. After I forcefully pried it’s jaws apart the gray wolf went limp, and I dropped it to the ground. I turned to check on Gabriel. I watched as he was standing on two legs holding a brown and white wolf. Gabe and I were so much bigger than any of these wolves. Why would they attempt to attack us? Gabe must have knocked one of the wolves out because it jumped up and took off running. I quickly caught it.
“Don’t kill it! I need answers.” Gabe said, stopping me right before I snapped its neck. I turned back to Gabe only to see him put the brown and white wolves entire head in his mouth then he bit down. This time I was grossed out as its skull popped like a grape in Gabe’s mouth. Blood and brain matter splattered everywhere.
“Okay, that was a bit too much.” Mia said. Gabe looked at me. He shrugged his large Lycan shoulders and grinned.
“Mika’s idea, I just went with it.” Gabriel said to me. He dropped the wolf’s headless body as it shifted back into that of a human. Gabe walked over to me and grabbed the wolf that I had from my arms. “SHIFT!” Gabriel demanded the wolf. Nothing happened. Don’t they have to listen to us? Why wasn’t it working? Gabe looked at me. The wolf laughed at us through our mind link. This was something else that was new, as we normally couldn’t communicate through mind link with members outside of our pack. Gabe’s eyes took on another murderous look. “SPEAK! Whose pack are you from? Are you a rogue? Why did you attack us?”
“There is no use in hiding what wasn’t intended to be hidden.” The wolf said to us. “I am part of the Foul Moon pack. Thane is my Alpha. We didn’t plan to attack you tonight, but you conveniently tumbled upon us. We were only here to run your border.” He laughed. “If you are wondering why your Lycan aura doesn’t work on me, it is because Thanes pack doesn’t play by the same rules as yours. We don’t bow to you, Lycan King! We feed off a greater power than yours.”

Gabe dropped him to the ground and grabbed his hind legs. He then spun the wolf and slammed him into a tree. I think I heard every bone in its body break. Gabe let him lay there in pain.
“Do you plan to finish him?” I asked. Gabe looked at me.
“No, let him suffer. If he heals it will take days. Then He can run back to his so-called Alpha and tell him what he and his friends experienced here. Thane should know what is waiting on him.” I watched as Gabe clenched his teeth. He growled out low. “Let’s get you back within the border. When we tumbled, we rolled out of the protection on Mona’s spell. That is the only reason they were able to get to us. Not that I mind, I needed a good stress relief. I would rather you didn’t have to get bloody though. You’re too pretty for that.” I rolled my eyes at him.
“Get used to it mate. I am a warrior not a princess.” He gave me a playful growl.
"You are a Lycan Queen, and a damn sexy one at that.” He reminded me of my title every chance he could get. In my mind I would always be a warrior. Yes, I play the role of a Luna, and I take it very seriously. When it comes to a fight, I plan to be in the mix right along with everyone else. Gabriel can’t keep me from that.
