CHAPTER 60: YOU NEED MY HELP
~ Harper’s POV ~

It started to rain. Gabriel and I ran back toward the packhouse. Before we could make it, the rain got harder. When we finally made it back, we were both soaked and muddy. Gabe had Tanner leave us some clean clothes in the bathroom that was meant for those who wanted to shower after training. No one ever really used them, but they stayed stocked with linens, soaps, and shampoos just in case. Walking in I was surprised to find that it didn’t look like a regular shower room at all. Well… not one meant for sweaty warriors. It was more like a shower room that you would find in a spa. Beautiful blue lighting was everywhere. It reflected on the white stone floors and marble sink tops. There were individual showers, but they didn’t have curtains. There were glass doors that provided more privacy. This pack really takes care of their members. I feel so proud to be a part of it. I hadn’t realized I was still in my Lycan form until I tried to turn around and didn’t fit. I quickly shifted and tried to cover myself with my hands. I didn’t want Gabe to see me. I know that we are mates and we have had sex, but I am still shy…

I turned around to look for Gabe and watched as he walked up to me. He didn’t care that there wasn’t an inch of him that I couldn’t see. Once he was standing in front of me. He moved my hands, so I wasn’t covered. I felt a blush slide over my cheeks, and I looked down.
“Please, don’t hide from me.” He brought his hand up to my face and used his thumb to wipe away some mud that was on my lips.
“You are so beautiful, Harper.” He tilted my head up so that I was looking into his silver eyes. He was so sexy even with mud covering most of his body. He kissed me softly. He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling our bodies together. We kissed once more, then he picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He carried me into the shower with him and turned it on. He squeezed my butt before he let me slide down his body. He pulled me under the hot stream and began to rinse me off. I did the same to him. He shampooed my hair and washed my body. His hands slid over my body, dragging the soap along as he moved over my abdomen and breasts. He turned me around and pulled my hair to the side of my neck and proceeded to wash my neck and back. He made sure to lean down and kiss my neck before moving to the other parts of my body. The fact that he chose not to use a washcloth didn’t go unnoticed. Once he was done washing me, I began to wash him. I made sure to get all the dirt and mud off him. I picked some twigs from his hair and smiled guiltily at him. He grinned at me then pushed me against the shower wall. Both his hands were on each side of my head as I heard his heartbeat accelerate. Sexual desire was building between us. Before he could get too excited, I gently pushed him back with my hand.
“Do you want children? So soon?” I asked him. He looked at me not giving away any emotions.
“I can’t wait to be a dad.” He smiled at me. “But if you are not ready, I understand.” I am not sure how I feel about this. Yes, I want to be a mother, but there is so much going on right now.
“Would our pup be safe right now? I want to be a mother also, but Thane is after me and I don’t want to endanger our pup if I become pregnant.” I said to him, he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into him.
“Listen to me Harper, Thane Kago is not going to get you. If you became pregnant with my pup I would walk through hell and back out before I let anything happen to it. I know things are bad right now, but when the Moon Goddess decides that it is time for us to be parents, I am ready.” I smiled at him. I pressed my lips to his. All the uncertain feelings that I had from earlier have vanished. I smiled at him and reached up to bite his lip. I pulled back and gave him a playful look.
“This doesn’t mean that you are sharing my bed tonight.” His face fell, and he leaned into me.
“Well… I guess that means that I will need to have my way with you here then.” He said while lowering his mouth to my neck. I grinned and pulled him closer to me. I let Gabriel wash all my worries away, if only for that moment. Everything was perfect.

~ Gabriel’s POV ~

I tossed and turned all damn night. I can’t believe Harper wouldn’t let me sleep with her tonight. Mika groaned in my head. It was 3:00 in the morning and I was still wide awake. I got out of bed and made my way into my office. I just remembered that letter that Kelly gave me in the dining hall last night. It’s a good thing I thought to take it out of my pocket before Harper and I went for our run. I picked the letter up off my desk. I opened the envelope and a puff of green smoke exploded out of it. When I looked up, I didn’t know where I was. I saw an old rickety shack that looked to be in the middle of a swamp. There were old trees with tree moss growing out of the water. Thick fog rolled over the area giving it an even more eerie feeling. I blinked and I was back in my office. What the hell was that? Who is the letter from? I began to read it.

I am assuming you need my help severing the connection between Thane Kago and the terminal stone. It is vital that we move quickly. The longer he is connected to it, the stronger he becomes. The journey will be treacherous, and you will encounter many dangerous creatures. If you want to protect Harper, you must come to me. I will tell you how to defeat Thane.

She must be the original witch. I have to go to her. That vision must have been showing me where to find the witch. Somehow, I knew exactly how to get to her. I am not taking Harper with me, and she can’t know what I am really doing. I am not going to put her in danger. She is safest here. I don’t want to leave her, but this must be done.
I want to be with Harper right now. I walk to her room and use my key to open the door. I expected her to be fast asleep. When I opened the door wide enough to see her, there she was wide awake with the covers pulled up to her chin. I shut her door behind me and walked over to her.
“Couldn’t sleep either huh?” I asked her. She shook her head and held the covers up so I could climb into bed next to her. She snuggled into my side with my arm resting behind her head. I breathed in her scent of fresh roses. Her breathing became steady, and I knew that she was asleep. I leaned over and kissed her gently on the forehead. I watched for a while as she slept. I cherish this moment with her, she is my treasure. Tomorrow I will be leaving.
