HE JUST TOUCHED MY HARPER
CHAPTER 33: HE JUST TOUCHED MY HARPER
~ Gabriel’s POV~
Harper had been downstairs at the bar with Kelly for about fifteen minutes. I kept glancing at her through the glass wall that separated the VIP section from everything else. You could see out of the glass, but no one could see in. I was in the middle of conversation with Tanner and Kai when Mika started to stir. My eyes shot up to Tanner and Kai. Their eyes locked on mine knowing exactly what was going on. It's another alpha. I have smelled this scent before. It’s The Shadow Dwellers. A pack that we are neither ally's nor enemies with. My father and the alpha of the Shadow Dwellers have only met a few times outside our borders. They always got along, but the heir to the Shadow Dwellers and I hated each other.
His name is Chad. I just never liked the way he acted, but as long as he respects me, I would respect him. They are a pack that live on the opposite side of the city from us. The city is in the middle of our two territories. They are a large pack, as big as ours. They have smaller packs that rely on them, just like we have smaller packs that rely on us.
Them being here wouldn’t be a problem, but Chad just touched my Harper. I didn’t even touch the stairs. I jumped from the upstairs floor down to the ground floor with ease. This caused humans around us to gasp. I ignored them though, I had other things on my mind. I grabbed Harper's waist and pulled her into me. Kai and Tanner were both right behind me knowing what was about to go down.
“What the fuck do you think you are doing Chad?” I growled out. Mika was pacing back and forth in my head begging me to let him out.
Chad looked at me. He didn’t flinch at my presence. As alpha’s we have no effect on each other.
“Gabriel, I thought I smelled you. I was trying to get a little snack to take back to my bed tonight. It looks like she belongs to you. Although, I see no mark on her neck. I was being nice and offered her a drink. She turned me down, but she was starting to warm up to me. If you hadn’t interrupted us, her legs would have already been wrapped around me by now.”
I launched toward him, getting in his face. Neither of us cowered or turned away.
“Watch your fucking mouth, before I cut your throat and watch as you bleed out” I growled out at him.
“Is that a threat Gabe?” Chad spat out at me.
“That’s a promise you little bitch.” Mika was coming out.
My teeth extended and my eyes changed to illuminated amber. I felt my hands shifting. Chad's wolf was doing the same. Tanner and Kai dragged me back away from Chad before I could shift completely.
“That’s right, let your mutts pull you back.” He laughed at me.
I was breaking from Tanner and Kai’s hold on me. When I looked up still trying to break free, Harper had gotten right in Chad's face. I growled...
“Harper no!” I yelled at her.
“Change your mind baby?” Chad asked Harper. To my shock, Harper’s reply to him caused my heart to drop out of my chest.
“I have. Since I’m not marked yet, why not?” She said in a flirtatious way.
She stood on her tiptoes and leaned up to kiss him. Chad looked at me and grinned. I couldn’t watch this! Chad licked his lips and bent down to meet Harper’s. Mika was howling in my head!
Harper placed her hand on the back of Chad’s neck to get a better grip on him. Chad let out a growl, anticipating Harper's lips on his. He slid his hand around Harper's waist, but before he could pull her any closer to him Harper slammed Chad’s head against her knee causing him to stumble backwards.
“Oh shit!” Tanner said to the left of me.
Chad raised up holding his bloody nose. Shock and surprise was written on all our faces, but Harper wasn’t done yet. She stepped forward pulling her fist back and busted Chad right in the mouth. He stumbled back three or four more steps.
The club was completely silent at this point. Everyone was watching what was going on. Still holding his face, he looked at Harper. Chad’s beta and gamma stepped in front of him. But he removed his hand from his bloodied face and pushed them back behind him and stepped up to Harper. She didn’t flinch away like a normal wolf would to an alpha. She held her ground.
Tanner and Kai had released me in the middle of all the shock of Harper’s actions. I stepped to Harper's side. I was ready to rip his throat out if he touched her.
“I won't be disrespected. I don’t care if you are an alpha. I bow to no one! And never talk about my pack like that again. I will kill you next time.” Harper spoke fiercely. Not even my mother the Luna held a presence like this.
Chad straightened himself, appearing taller. I stepped in front of Harper ready to push her back if I clashed with him. He touched his hand to his face again to check if the bleeding had stopped. He looked up at us.
“Well Gabriel, I can see why your so protective over her. She’s a feisty one, and it’s hot!” His eyes landed back on harper. I stepped forward and I shoved him back. He quickly caught his footing and stepped back up to me. I was expecting him to reciprocate. “If that she wolf was on my arm, I wouldn’t let her out of my sight. I would be too worried about others trying to snatch her away.” He was talking to me, but still looking at Harper.
“I would rethink my next move if I were you, Chad.” I warned him.
“Relax Gabriel, I’m done messing with your girl. I have to respect any wolf, especially a she wolf who can hit that hard. The fact that she stepped up to me alone... that took guts. I am ready to fight you, but not her.” Was this a joke? What was he trying to do here?
“Gabriel, you have yourself a strong Luna. I'm going to talk with my father about revisiting a potential alliance with your pack. I wouldn’t want to fight against this little wolf.” He smiled at Harper. If Chad’s father wanted to talk about an alliance, a decision about that would be up to my father. “Trouble is mounting. Thane Kago is a problem for us all. I am sure you are aware of everything. If we meet on the battlefield, I’d like to be on her side.” He looked at me, and I nodded at him. Chad then turned to walk away, his beta and gamma left behind him.
“Hell yeah! Best night ever!” Tanner exclaimed, picking Harper up in a big bear hug shaking her from side to side.
People cheered all around us. The music started back up and the lights were flashing again. These humans think this was all part of the fun. They are oblivious to what actually happened. “Only Harper would step up to a damn alpha by herself. Even I wouldn’t do that without Gabe!” Tanner said, releasing Harper. I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into me. I breathed in her scent to let my body drink her in.
“What am I going to do with you little wolf?” I said to her. “I was ready to take on his entire pack for you, and you stopped a whole war just by punching him in the face.” I kissed her forehead. I have fallen for this girl so hard. I will lose myself if I am not her mate.
~ Harper’s POV~
On our way back to the packhouse, we were all exhausted from such a fun and nerve wrecking night. It was so sexy how Gabriel stood up for me. I am not a weak she wolf who expects to be rescued all the time. I know I have him to protect me, but I would rather die than see him get hurt.
Tanner leaned on his elbows and looked at me.
"Harper, will you tell me how the hell you managed to turn a longtime enemy of ours into an ally by punching the damn future alpha in the face?" Everyone busted out laughing.
“Gabe, I want something.” I said.
“What is it baby?” He replied to me. Everyone was now listening.
“I have always wanted a puppy. I wanted to ask if it was alright if I brought one into the packhouse.” Tanner raised up from his relaxed position in the limo.
“You are thinking about a puppy!"
“A puppy! I want one to.” Kelly said.
Tanner looked at us in shock.
“You're serious!” Tanner said. “No, no... No, NO, NO. I hate to tell the juggernaut no but please no." I was confused by his reaction. I have always wanted a puppy.
“Why Tanner are you allergic to dogs?” I asked him, trying to understand.
“Harper.” He said my name. His face was serious as he spoke. “You go ahead and bring a puppy home. I am telling you right now, if it sticks its nose anywhere near my exhaust area, I will bite it. there's your fair warning.”
Laughter blasted throughout the limo. I laughed until I couldn’t breathe. Kai was rolling on the floor of the limo holding his stomach.
"He thinks it's gonna sniff his ass!" Kai was out of breath from laughter.
“I'm sorry, Tanner. I never thought of that.” I was crying with laughter. Tanner crossed his arms over his chest.
“You won your argument, Tanner. We aren’t getting a puppy.” Gabe said, continuing to laugh at Tanner. The rest of the way home everyone just continues to laugh and have fun. I looked around everyone and what I saw was my family. I smiled to myself and leaned my head onto Gabriel's chest.
