PROUD TO STAND BY YOU

CHAPTER 46: PROUD TO STAND BY YOU
~ Gabriel's POV~

“Please, accept my condolences, Alpha Gabriel. I hate to hear of your fathers passing. He was a strong alpha, and a trustworthy ally. My pack stands with you against Thane Kago. I believe all packs should think about joining your cause. Thane’s destruction will not stop until there is nothing left to defend.” Said alpha Yager of the swift winds pack.
“Thank you alpha Yager.” I said looking around the table.
“We the silver moon pack will also support your cause. We have let Thane get away with too much already.” Alpha Knox said.
“You can count us in as well Gabriel. I believe he has long been out of control. It surprises me that he has such a large following, and it continues to grow larger every day.” said alpha Sarin of the clear waters pack.
“He has such a following because he recruits rogues who have it out for established packs like us. My pack is ready to engage when you are alpha Gabriel. We will be proud to stand by your side. I do believe it would be wise to approach other races to have them join us as well.” said Alpha Carmine of the crescent fang pack. I was relieved by the response of our ally’s. They all know that Thane won't stop once he gets Harper. He will use his power to destroy everything as we know it.
“My fellow alpha’s, I cannot express how humbled I am by your readiness to stand by my side. This is not just a fight for the harmony moon pack. If Thane happens to defeat us, he will move on to the rest of you and beyond. Our next course of action is to gather more allies to march with us. Thane’s wolf isn’t normal, and he regenerates quickly. I need you all to contact your fellow ally’s and ask for their cooperation as well. I can’t stress the seriousness of this situation enough. I will be contacting my father’s friend who is a witch. Her coven may be willing to join us.” All four alphas nodded to me.
“It sounds like you are on the right track, young Alpha. Your father would be proud.” Alpha Knox said to me. I nodded to him. I had to choke my emotions down. Now is not the time to let any weakness’s show.
“Once again, thank you all for your support. My father trusted and believed in all of you, and I will continue to do the same. That concludes this meeting, thank you all for joining me. Please, enjoy the celebration tonight!” I said, trying to sound enthusiastic. All the alpha’s seemed excited to get to the field where we had everything set up to watch the eclipse. Food was on their minds no doubt. I guess I should contact Chad and his father to see if they plan to join the fight. I have to swallow my pride. I have to make decisions based on what is best for my pack and Harper.

I walked out of my office and ran into Tanner.
“Hey Gabe, I brought you the list of the lost warriors and their families that you asked for.”
“Thanks Tanner, I’ll go and meet with them now.” He nodded to me. “Hey, can you make sure everything is ready for the celebration tonight? Kelly is with Harper. She is usually the one who handles all this stuff.”
“Sure, no problem, Gabe. I’m a good party planner.” Tanner said while flashing me his usual cocky smile.
“Just do me a favor and check with Kelly before you change anything. She should have a list of things that must be done today.” I said to Tanner while palming my forehead. I was stressed. It’s only my first day as the full-time unofficial alpha and I already have a headache. I won’t be the official alpha until my mother releases authority to me.
“Yeah, I'll go check with Kelly. I need a good excuse to see her anyway.” I rolled my eyes and proceeded to the back doors of the packhouse. I need to visit our pack houses that are situated behind the training field. It’s a neat little subdivision with modernized homes. It was set up like a little town. We installed decorative streetlamps and sidewalks. Some pack members had flower gardens planted at their front doors. You can walk down the streets in the middle of the day and there will be children safely playing in the grass in front of their homes. I love how comfortable our members are here.

I stepped up to the first door and gently knocked. An old lady answered the door.
“Good evening Mrs. Stacy.” She grabbed my hand, seeming happy to see me.
“Good evening alpha, it is a pleasure to see you.” I smiled warmly at her.
“I have come to offer my condolences for your lost loved one. Shane was an important member of our pack. His loss is not an easy one. I want to let you know that you can come to me if there is anything that I can do to help you in any way.” She patted my hand.
“A fine young man you are alpha Gabriel. You’ll make a wonderful alpha to our pack. Thank you for stopping by. I will keep what you have offered me in mind.” I smiled at her and leaned in to give her a hug and she returned it.
“Thank you, Mrs. Stacy. Come by for the celebration later today if you feel like it.”
“I will do that Alpha. You have a good rest of your day, now.” I nodded my head while smiling at her. Then I turned to walk away. I made my way to all the homes of our lost loved ones. Some were inconsolable, which is understandable. It’s getting late now. I need to check on Harper and freshen up for the celebration. I walked back to the pack house and made my way to my room. I passed several pack members who gave me a hug and told me how great my father was. If we are nothing else, we are a very supportive and caring pack.

I knocked lightly on my door, then opened it. Kelly slowly stood up from a chair next to the side of my bed where Harper was still asleep.
“Any movement?” I asked her. She frowned and shook her head.
“I’m sorry, Alpha. She hasn’t moved.”
“I see, thank you Kelly for staying with her. I am going to freshen up and get ready for the celebration. Do you think that you and I can switch out during the celebration? Unfortunately, I must make an appearance. I don’t want you to miss it either.”
“Of course, Alpha. I will be happy to.” She looked at me while chewing on her lip. “If you are ok with her for now, I am going to check on the celebration details. Between you and I, Tanner may turn this place into a nightclub if I don’t watch him.” Kelly looked at me while smiling. I nodded to her.
“I think that would be a good idea, Kelly. You do have a point.” I said, agreeing with her. She smiled at me and turned to walk out the door, I closed it behind her. I walked over to Harper and brushed her hair from her face, then leaned down and kissed her forehead. “Come back to me Harper. I can’t last here without you.” I whispered in her ear. I hope she can hear me.
