SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT
CHAPTER 68: SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT
~ Gabriel’s POV ~
Kai and I walked through the field toward the mountain. This place is beautiful, I would love to bring Harper here one day. Man, I miss her, I just hope I get the chance to tell her how sorry I am about what happened with that damned witch. We passed some strange creatures; some we had only heard about. Kai wasn’t about to mess with any of them after what happened with the Baldander. I am hoping we can get to the dragons and get the weapon before nightfall. I can’t wait to be back on my way home. Truth is, I don’t know how easy it will be to get the weapon. These dragons may not be willing to just hand it over. I will kill every last one of them if I have to. Nothing will keep me from protecting Harper.
Kai and I finally make it to the base of the mountain where the cave entrance is. There are two large men standing guard. Something tells me that they are not just men. Their eyes are glowing red. They are definitely similar to Thane’s. I walk up to the man nearest to me.
“State your purpose wolf.” He says to me.
“I have come to retrieve a weapon.” I said back to him.
“Who are you to come to the land of the dragons seeking a weapon intended to be only used on a dragon?” He said back to me.
“My name is Gabriel Mason. I am the Alpha of the Harmony Moon pack and Lycan King of all werewolf kind.” The guard’s eyes glazed over. I could tell he was talking to someone.
“Lycan King Gabriel, you have been granted passage.” He stepped aside. I nodded to both guards and continued into the cave.
“Well, they weren’t intimidating at all.” Kai said. I knew he was being sarcastic. “I bet they were both dragons. Have you ever seen one in dragon form?” He asked me.
“No, I haven’t. That is the first time I have even seen a dragon even in human form.” They are no doubt one of the strongest if not strongest creatures known to all mythical creatures. Well, other than deities. I silently wonder how my Lycan power would stand against a dragon. Kai and I were walking upstairs that had been carved out of the inside of this mountain. Looking up there was a faint light at the very top. That must be the exit on the top of the mountain.
It felt like we had been climbing stairs for over an hour. This really sucked.
“These dragons should really invest in an elevator. I mean really…” Kai said.
“They don’t really need one, Kai. I mean, it’s not like they have to walk up these stairs to get to the top of the mountain.” I said back to him.
“Oh, right! They can fly.” I rolled my eyes at him.
Finally, we made it to the top of the mountain. Walking out of the cave my eyes have to adjust to the light outside of the cave. When I looked around. I am not sure it is how you would imagine a Dragon Kingdom to look. We were definitely in the clouds. We were in the middle of what looked like a small market area. There were only four vendors here. Children were running around without a care in the world. Looking up there were Dragons flying high in the sky circling around. They were most likely keeping guard from any unwelcome guests. Kai and I proceeded forward and were greeted by four warrior type men.
“Lycan King Gabriel, follow us. King Layden has been expecting you.”
“Uh… ok.” I said back. Two of the large men were in front of Kai and I. The other two were in the back. We walked down a paved walkway. Until we entered a huge field at the edge of the mountain. It was a sheer drop off. I guess they didn’t have to worry about railings around here.
The guards walked us to the front of a temple. It had a slanted roof and all sorts of colors. Greens, reds, and gold. I didn’t have much time to take in the craftsmanship. The sound of wings beating grabbed my attention. I looked up and a gust of wind nearly blew me off my feet as a huge dragon descended toward us. His scales glimmered in the bright sunlight. It was pitch black with hints of blue. Its eyes glowed white, and its size was bigger than what I was expecting. Once on the ground the dragon shifted into a huge man. He had to be the King here. He gave off an aura that matched that of my Lycan. He didn’t say anything as he walked up to me. As always, I kept my shoulders and back straight. I am not intimidated by these creatures. They are powerful, but so am I. My eyes met that of the dragon, as he walked around me. He was sizing me up. I let him do that, because I was sizing him up as well.
“Lycan King Gabriel… I have heard about you. Mind If I see your Lycan?” He asked me. Without hesitation Mika came forward. We grew to over two and a half feet over his large human body. My Lycan was easily 10’ tall. Mika thought he would be funny and proceed to walk around the dragon king.
“He needs to know that he doesn’t intimidate us.” The dragon king had a look of amusement on his face.
“I see, you’re a confident one Lycan King. Let’s see what you’ve got!” Without warning the dragon king came at me full force. I could tell that he was half shifted into his dragon and moving at lighting speed. Kai moved to step in, but I stopped him. The king moved to strike me in the face, but I easily turned and dodged his punch as if he was in slow motion. If he wants to see what I’ve got, I guess I won’t go easy on him. I leaned back avoiding another strike and turned my body then bent down and landed a solid punch to his ribs. I heard him seethe from the pain. I knew I just broke a few. I grinned to myself.
“Show me what you’ve got Dragon King Layden.” I said to him, continuing to dodge his movements. I misstepped and he landed a good punch to my jaw. I didn’t even stumble back. I came back with an uppercut and caught him right below his chin and forced his head backwards causing him to land flat on his ass. I stood there and waited on him to come at me again, but before I knew it, he shifted into his complete dragon form. I swiftly jumped over his spiked tail as he swung it my way. I ran and slid under his stomach and clawed him from the neck to his ass hole. He let out a deafening shriek. Ok, maybe we shouldn’t have gotten so carried away.
I moved out from under him before he could stomp me. We were both staring each other down. I have to say it caught me off guard when I saw his neck start to glow blue.
“Oh shit!” Mika yelled in my head. I moved to brace myself. How am I going to survive this? My body moved instinctively. I threw my hands straight out to my sides and turned rapidly.
“GABRIEL! WATCH OUT!” Kai yelled, right before the dragon released a blue flame that enveloped my entire body. I quickly shut my eyes. The heat from the flame was so hot that they had started watering. I should be ashes right now. I opened one eye to spare a glance at the damage, but the flames weren’t even touching me. What is this? “What the fuck are you doing?” I hear Kai yelling at the dragon king. He finally let his flames subside. When the smoke cleared, the first one I looked for was the dragon. I was anticipating another attack. I am pretty sure he just tried to kill me. To my surprise he had shifted back into his human form, and he had a grin spread across his face. I growled out at him.
“You tried to kill me?!” I said to him, he shrugged his shoulders.
“Yeah, I did.” He said nonchalantly. “If you would have been that easy to kill, then you would not be worthy enough to carry one of our weapons.” I looked at him with shock written all over my face. I shifted back to my human form and Kai threw me a pair of shorts.
“It was a test?” I asked him. He looked at me and motioned for me to follow him.
