Chapter 16 You're mine
It was like a statue of a woman wrapped in silver paper, and without tearing it apart, I somehow knew what was inside. My eyes looked around for any sign of man who was capable of doing this, but no sound or movement was heard.
Taking deep breaths to calm myself and walking towards the unwanted gift in my lobby, I watched it like someone had planted a bomb in my apartment. I was about to open it but when my eyes landed on small box placed on table top, I couldn't help but look inside.
It was a box covered with grey velvet, and a black ribbon, and as I opened it, a small note greeted me back. It wasn't that small, but it was enough to let me know the details.
I picked up the white coloured note, beautiful cursive handwritten words were telling me this present was Silvio's.
Wear this tommorrow evening.
Salvatore. S
Three simple words and the weight of his order was there. Tommorrow evening? What was he planning for tommorrow? Didn't he had enough last night? A warm flush came to my face as I remembered the events of last night but as soon as it came, I shrugged it off. I had to keep my distance from him. He wasn't made for me and his type of men were nothing but dangerous.
I placed the note in box and after looking at wrapped piece of dress, I didn't bothered to open it. I wasn't going anywhere with him tommorrow, I had my own plans and moreover, I had to go with Eric to seminar. Probably I should vanish before he could arrive. Maybe after not finding me here, he would leave me be for tommorrow.
It was a good idea.
It was already night, he wasn't here which probably meant he wouldn't be here tonight too. Great. I changed my clothes and after a nice warm long shower, I made something light for myself. I made simple mac-cheese. It was easy to make and tasty to eat.
Sleep came naturally after spending the day in tiredness.
I woke when my phone rang. I groaned before tossing around, rubbed my eyes as it rang again. With a sigh, I picked it up.
"Hello?" My voice was husky.
"Dr. Quintin! Are you ready for this beautiful evening?" Excited voice of Eric greeted me and I frowned as I pulled the phone away and narrowed my eyes to look at time. And it gave me a shock when I saw it was already five in evening.
What the fuck?!
Did I slept whole day?!
"Y-yeah! I'm just getting ready." I heard him chuckle as I ended the call. I just couldn't belive, was I that much exhausted?!
And what was I supposed to wear?!
I pulled the duvet off me and rushed to the bathroom. Shower washed the sleep off me and Without wasting any other second, I swiftly rushed towards Olivia's room. I didn't had any formal to go for this evening event, so I decided to borrow something from her. She had great taste in dressing.
Opening her closet, I looked around the colourful pieces. Black, red, grey, silver-all colours were there. But then my eye caught a glimpse of white satin dress...
?
Perfect!
I took it and went to my room. Quickly pulling the towel off me, I put it on. And strangely it fitted me perfectly. Now what?! Makeup!
Yeah!
I put a nude coloured lipstick and coated my eyes with mascara and thin winged eyeliner. I looked at time and it was six forty. Eric would be here in ten minutes. I strapped the matching white heels on my ankles and grabbed my clutch as I let my hairs down in a messy waves. Overall, atleast I was looking presentable. When I exited my room, my eyes landed on present that was in my lobby.
Should I open it? I contemplated but in the end I end up walking towards it. I was about to open it when my door bell rang. I forwned. Maybe it was Eric.
I shrugged away and with last look towards the statue, I walked towards the door. With a smile, I opened it. I was probably expecting Eric but on door there was a man. An unknown man.
I narrowed my eyes. "Yes?"
He seemed quite bulky, with black leather jacket and boots. His hairs short and eyes hardened.
"Come with me." He said in his gruffly tone. I frowned.
"Who are you?" I asked, a bit scared, but a bit confident.
"Boss has send me to get you." Boss? Oh! Silvio?
"Excuse me! Whoever the hell you are, I'm not going anywhere with you and tell that boss of yours that I don't want to see him ever again." I crossed my arms over my chest and glared at him. He seemed unaffected, just shrugged his shoulders and took out his phone before he strated dialing something in it.
I twisted my mouth in frustration. Was he going to call Silvio?
"She's isn't coming." He said. And after few sí's and okay's, he handed the phone to me. I gave him my coldest galre and took the phone.
"Hello?" My eyes were still glued to his face as I spoke.
"Don't be stubborn, Cara...come to me." Silvio Salvatore was a man whose voice was nothing toxic and addictive than a drug itself. He sounded quite pissed and angry. Only because he wasn't in front of me, I was feeling quite rebellious today.
"I am not coming to you, Mr. Salvatore. Have a nice night." I said without giving him chance to speak, I ended the call and gave the phone to the man standing at my door. He looked strangely at me and nodded before turning around and vanishing towards the stairs. One problem solve, another to handle.
And about the gift he had left me, I would deliever it to him tommorrow.
As I was waiting for Eric, I received a text from him telling me he was down.
I quickly locked the doors behind me and stomped towards the bottom of building. My mind was now bit cleared, and I was happy about that. I had enough drama in my life and I didn't needed another fear in my life. Silvio was dangerous, he had made that clear thousnads of time and I was not that dumb to associate myself with him. He was only attracted to me physically, and I knew after one fuck, he would leave me like a used condom.
I refused to be that.
On reaching the last stair, my eyes glanced towards the entrance where a shiny black car was standing, and it didn't took me long to recognised the man sitting at steering wheel. Eric was looking handsome as always with his hairs gelled back and wearing a navy blue, crisp suit. His small smile working as charm.
"Good evening." He greeted as I neared his car. He immediately stepped outside and opened the door for me. I thanked him with a polite smile as I hopped in.
He rounded and got in his seat.
His eyes wandered towards me as he gave me a shy smile, his cheeks tinted red with blush and his hands seemed sweaty.
"Let's go." I smiled at him and he chuckled.
"You're looking... beautiful." He complimented and I blushed profusely before mumbling a thankyou. He started the car and we talked about what was this event about. He told me this was a seminar, a charity programme for orphanages and old-age houses. Especially for woman.
In between, I was glancing oustide, beautiful lights were sparkling in whole city makinh it look more beautiful.
"I just hope this evening go smoothly." He laughed nervously when we were two minutes away. I plastered my hand on his and gave it a little squeeze. His eyes snapped towards me and he gave me a genuine smile.
"It will." I assured him and placed my hand on his. His warm and smooth smile melted my heart further and I found myself grinning back.
We reached the venue sooner than expected. And let me warn you, this seminar venue wasn't less decorated. Infact, the decoartion was extra-ordinary, and extravagant. Thousands of sparkly flowers were dancing around the edges and millions of lights were glistening. It was well mainatined. And by the looks, it looked like backside of a hotel.
Eric helped me getting out, and positioned his one arm around me.
"I'm getting nervous." He chuckled nervously.
I glanced at him and rested my hand on his assuringly.
"You're a smart man, Eric. You don't have to be nervous." I said grinning up at him. His eyes glistened with adoration for a second as he leaned forward. I looked startled at him as he pecked my cheek.
"A date like you is all I need to survive." I felt that. My heart pumping loudly and my eyes wide. My body flushed and my brain frozen.
His smile brought a smile on my face as I gave him a polite smile. I felt his fingers caressing my waist as he escotted me inside. Maybe he was a good news unlike that Salvatore.
Upon entering, my gaze immediately was stolen by mesmerising decor. Glass windows, water fountain in middle, a rectangular stage and tables along with a dance floor. Hundreds of men and women chatting and laughing.
"Glad to see you here, Dr. Eric." Beaming sound of woman filled my ears as we both turned around, greeted by blonde hairs of very beautiful woman. She was familiar to me because I had seen her when Eric brought me to restaurant.
"Dr. Samantha." I nodded politely, her smile intentionally widened.
"Sadie, dear. How are you?" She beamed with excitement. Her cheeks flushed red, complimenting her silk blue dress. The diamonds in her ears shinning with every move she was making, though her hairs were beautifully twisted in a updo.
"Well, I'm doing just fine." I smiled back. She was slightly taller than me kr were those heels making her look this way? But whatever the reason was, she was a gorgeous woman.
"Glad to hear." She turned towards Eric. "So, are you ready for a life changing experience?" She clapsed her hands together and wiggled her brows at him. I held back my laugh. She was too funny and hilarious.
"Well, nervous is the word for me." Eric rubbed the nape of his neck.
He looked tensed, and nervous. It was a big opportunity for him. I wpuld be scred too, if I was at his place.
"You don't ha-"
Suddenly the lights dimmed down and the atmosphere become strangely quite. The chitter-chatters died down. Samnatha gave an apologetic smile as she excused herself, probably checking what had happened.
"What's going on?" I softly elbowed Eric, trying to get his attention as he shrugged his shoulders.
"Don't know." He muttered.
And then the lights bloomed as the entrance got blocked by two silhouettes. I blinked my eyes to get a better view when I suddenly found myself freezing.
Fuck!
This couldn't be happening! Wh-how?! This wasn't real! Oh my god! What's he doing here?!
I tried not be obvious, and did my best to hide my shocked expressions. My body suddenly tensed and my breathing shortened, my hands stiffened and my face paled. His dark charcoal black hairs caressed his forehead in a messy way and his well-stiched, tailored suit clung deliciously to his broad frame. His hands in his pockets as two other men walked beside him.
I recognised them in one glance, one was Dante and other was Michal, I guess that's what his name was?
Main question-what was he doing here?!
"Oh my god! I can't believe he's here!" A strangely high pitched voice boomed beside us. I glanced arpund to fing group of women looking his way.
"Do you know him?" I asked to no one in particular. Eric looked at me like I was a insane woman and tyrned me towards him.
"You don't know him?..well, he's a business mogul, Silvio Salvatore. Benefactor and invester of this particular seminar." I couldn't be more shocked. Benefactor? Investor? A killer could never be this!
I stiffly nodded.
So, he didn't knew that I was here? Maybe it was good thing. I could avoid him easily, right? Maybe I could go home now? But what about Eric? I couldn't ditch him now!
I didn't even got time to thought when Eric wrapped his arm arpund me. I jumped startled and gave him a wide eyed look.
"What're-"
"Good evening, Mr. Salvatore. I'm Eric." I felt the air leaving my lungs. I could feely heart slamming against my rib cage as I looked up at him.
"Evening, Eric." His voice hard and harsh. I breathed heavily as I looked up into Silvio's irritated grey glare. I noticed that he was angry, probably more than that and my fear was more than his anger. He was looking at me not hiding his disappointment of seeing me here.
I remained glued.
"..and what of her?" I was starring at the floor when I furrowed my brows in confusion. Was he asking about me? I slowly raised my head and felt my heart slamming against my chest rapidly. Being this close, his face was looking like sculpted bu gods themselves. But his eyes held rage, a storm, a disater.
"Her? Oh! She's my date." I felt my heart beat quicken as Silvio held my gaze. Why was he looking at me like this? Why was his gaze so intense?
"What is your name?" He asked in such a deep voice and his question startled me. He knew my name, right? He knew who I was? Probably he knew my whole background?
He was playing with me.
"Sa-sad...Sadie." I manged to let out.
"..Sadie.." he said with a bit of warning. Eric was giving us strange looks. It was obvious how Silvio was ignoring his existence. His eyes held my gaze before his eyes raked over my body in such a way that it lit a strange fire in my belly. The displeasure was there, in his eyes, pf seeing me wearing this clothes.
"Date, huh?" He scoffed. His light grey suit matching his steel gaze, haed on me, eating my soul.
"Mr. Morelli is waiting, sir." That's when I noticed Dante beside him. He was a handsome man, with brown chocolate eyes and dark black short hairs. He was also dressed formally, wearing black button up with light white pants.
He wasn't looking at me but his attention was on Silvio, who clenched his jaw in response, still glaring at me. My breathing shortened rapidly when he leaned forward slightly, tilting his head yo left as he gave me a dark smile.
"Pleasure to meet you, Sadie..." he said. And there was no peasure of seeing me here.
He turned around with Dante closely following behind him as they vanished in crowd. And I sighed.
"Are you okay?" Eric asked me. And I stiffly nodded.
"Well, I have to be on stage for my speech." Eric reminded me and I unknowingly nodded. My mind was distracted by certain someone.
"You sure you'll be okay?" Concern was there and he pulled away from me before leaning down and pecking my cheek, leaving me surprised. My breathing was bothering me, my hands slightly shaking, and I was afraid of what Silvio might do.
Eric was not there when I turned around. He was heading towards the centre where Samnatha was, with her husband. I stood there, in middle of hall, distraughted, and panicked.
Would he hurt me? Where was he? Did he already knew that I was here? I had so many questions.
I gulped and took a deep breath to calm myself. He had no right over me. I owed him nothing. What if he was here, I didn't care. Right?
No!
I was terrified of that man. He ruled my nightmares and he was walking span of satan. If he wanted he could had-
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen," my thoughts were interrupted when a sound entered my ears. I looked towards the front, Eric was standing on stange, holding a mic to his mouth. Maybe his speech had begun. "Women. We all are well-familiar with this term."
~
He continued. And I felt proud. This man, Eric Smith, chose to talk about women instead of any other thing. I was feeling like a proud friend.
His speech continued and I listened most of it. I couldn't hear some because of certain pair of grey eyes on me. I could feel him watching me, noting my every move, taking my every movement. And I was feeling uncomfortable. He was behind me, that much i was aware of, and he was ceratin distance away from me, probably on left side.
But I couldn't brought myself to look his way.
"Be the man who fixes women not the man..who shows power to control the light of this word. Without women, we are nothing and with them we are everything. I am eternally grateful for the women who have stilled our societies, earned rights, fought wars, and birthed creatures like us."
He was speaking and the uncomfortable feeling grew. With a deep breath I slightly looked over my shoulder and regretted it within a second. He was casually leaned over the table, his one arm supporting him and other hand wrapped around the glass filled with wine. His eyes shamelessly raking over my body as his lips curled up in a dark smirk. I immediately flushed and turned away.
I couldn't stay there any longer, I was afraid. I didn't realsied when my feet started taking me towards left, where the balcony was situated. Staying in same room as him was terrifying. He was a predator and I was his prey.
I sighed when I opened the door of balcony. Fresh, cool air engulfed me wholly. I could still hear faint speech of Eric but I was too concious to go inside.
The leaned aginst the banister, staring out into the night, the sky littered up with stars as I heard a round of applause for Eric from inside.
"Were you not enjoying yourself?"
I glanced over my shoulder and my eyes widened in shock when I saw Silvio stepping out into the balcony, with a glass of wine in his hand.
His eyes stared down at me unapologetically as he took a predatory step towards me.
"Uh.." I looked up at him startled as leaned against the balcony beside me. I gulped as I took a step towards the door when his voice stopped me.
"Try it. Run....and if I caught you... you'll scream for mercy." Threat was clear, he didn't even tried yo hide his irritation. I stood there completely paralysed, and I knew he meant every word he said. He wasn't looking at me now but his reflexes were dangerous.
He turned his head towards me and I felt my breath hitched, held my gaze with the same intensity as before. "You seem to forget my words."
I hesitated as he took a step in my direction. He gulped down the last sip of his wine and threw the glass on floor making it shatter. "You're mine, Sadie."
I looked up at him anxious of his next move. I shuddered as he closed the distance between us. "S-Silv-"
But he quickly silenced me with a ferocious kiss as he hungrily pressed his lips against mine. My entire body lit up with fire as his lips devoured mine. His tongue nudged my lips apart, before I felt him claim my own.
My heart raced as he wrapped his strong arms around me and pulled my body lush agaisnt his, squeezime me with such possessiveness that scared me. I felt his hands start to bunch up my dress when I quickly pushed him back.
