Chapter 32 War
"It's his problem, not mine." Silvio shrugged. He rather looked calm, his whole posture howling strange serenity.
I couldn't understand a thing they were saying but I was still able to join two and two together.
Severin narrowed his brows. Annoyance flashed through his coal eyes as he held Silvio's gaze.
"We have an agreement, Silvio. You will help us-"
"The agreement burned with my brother's corpse." Silvio gritted. His hands clenched into fists. I glanced at his face, and almost jumped when I noticed the darkness in his eyes. His jaw clenched as he stared at Severin with emotionless face. "The relation between Sicilians and Italians turned into dust when your traitor of father killed my father." Severin's eyes widened for a second. Silvio continued. "And now when your ass is going to set up in fire, you dare to knock on my steps. Think again, Severin. I have no bone to feed a dog like you."
Severin's whole body tensed whereas Silas glared at him. The atmosphere seemed more thicker than earlier.
I placed my hand over Silvio's, his body suddenly stiff. I strangely wanted him to calm down, didn't knew why, but my heart was in terror to watch him like this. He looked tensed.
"I don't want to start fight with you, Silvio. Time is crucial and we've got so much to lose." Severin gritted. I could senses how anger was slowly kicking in.
"Fight, huh?" Silvio scoffed. "I'll give you a war, Severin." He straightened and tilted his head before a small smirk played on his lips. "One more thing, I've got nothing to lose to a loser like you."
Silvio touched the last cord. Severin growled, his palms clenched into fists, the veins of his arms popping out. I was so terrified, the slight shaking in my hands was evident.
I wondered why everyone was silent.
"Now what? You want to kill me too, Severin?" Silvio chuckled. I didn't knew what was he trying to do but whatever it was, it was surely leading to different scenario. Severin wasn't as calm as prior, in fact his anger was surfacing slowly but steadily.
My heart felt suddenly heavy, dreading the outcomes of Silvio's constant provoking editorials. My breathing shortened as Severin stood up, his whole body language screaming danger.
"Your life is completely in my hands, so don't try to test my patience, Salvatore." Severin roared making me flinch. Silvio reciprocated his action and I Followed after him shortly. Dante and Miranda also stood up. Whereas Silas looked almost unbothered but his hazel eyes were fixated on Silvio. He seemed deep in thoughts like he was executing something in his head.
"What can you do, Anderson?" Silvio took a threatening step forward. His eyes glaring at Severin. Sweat dripped down my face, why did it suddenly felt so-
"Stop this bullshit! We've got-"
"Don't provoke me, Salvatore. You very well know what the hell am I capable of. Did you forget how I cut Sandro's throat." Severin smirked. The tension grew, the murderous aura surrounded the said man. The soft music no longer could keep the situation under control. The stripper herself had left the room long ago. As chaotic as surroundings were, the more my heart skipped beats.
Silvio's eyes narrowed into dark slits, his fists clenching, the white of his knuckled visibly tensed as he took a threatening step towards Severin when Dante placed his hand on his shoulder. Silvio didn't looked over his shoulder to look at interrupter but his body seemed to obey Dante's actions. He stopped.
I felt cold hands pressed against my back as I looked over my shoulder.
Miranda softly rubbed my back. She stood just behind me, I could feel her body next to mine. Leaning forward, she slowly whispered.
"Calm down." Her words made me realise how badly my hands were shaking. I wanted, but I couldn't stop them from shaking.
"I just thought maybe we could clear the conflicts between us, the shit that happened years ago needed to settle down, but I was wrong." Severin added. "Why not settle this for good, Silvio. You are here, I am here, Silas is here, what say?"
What? What?!
Knowing smirk played on Silas's lips which send shivers down my spine not in good way. Something wasn't right, I could feel it.
My hands immediately found crook lf Silvio's elbow as I pulled down at his arm. My shaking hands plastered over his bicep as I shook him to get his attention. His head simultaneously snapped towards me, his ice cold steel eyes found mine, electrifying sparks tingled my skin, my insides churned.
His eyes looked over my face, forrowed. I could feel everyone's stare on us. My breathing shortened as I looked pleadingly at him.
"P-Please! Let's go, I d-don't feel good here." I almost begged. Didn't knew why, but I didn't wanted him to stay here any longer. This situation screamed danger and I strangely didn't wanted him to get hurt. Ironically twisted thoughts.
Softness flashed through his eyes and shockingly he didn't tried to hide it. His other hand raised. My body startlingly relaxed as his cold knuckles caressed my cheek. Need to close my eyes and drown into his enticing touch overwhelmed me for a second. His eyes entrapped mine in captivating hold. For the first time I didn't wanted to look away. A small genuine smile danced on his lips as he his fingers caressed the under of my chin.
"Do you trust me?"
Did I?
"Y-yes." No.
His smile widened.
"I hate liars, Cara." Coldness wrapped around me as he pulled away. His eyes shinning under red lights, my eyes consecutively blinked.
"Get ready to lose, Anderson." He said, his eyes not leaving mine. I shook my head as I tried to grab his arm when Dante stepped forward blocking my view of him. I panicked as Silvio stepped away and turned around, followed by Severin and Silas along with Ricard.
"Stop him, Dante!" I cried as they all stepped outside. The door closed behind them and Miranda immediately pulled out a gun from purse before waving it in front of me. I looked shocked at her.
"Do me a favor, sweetheart and don't get yourself hurt. Because if you do, we all have heads to lose."
***
"Where are we going, now?"
"Just move along!"
I stopped. My feet automatically came to a halt as Micah's movement also slowed and he turned around only to glare at me. The large tatted bald man with the strong moustache walking in front of us also stopped.
Micah quickly grabbed me by my arm yanking me forward.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" He asked dumbfoundedly.
"What does it look like? I'm not going without Silvio." I said looking up at Micah.
"You can't just walk in a room full of mafia leaders in middle of trading when one of them wants your fucking head!" He growled pulling me towards him.
"What? Why does it have anything to do with me? What did I do?"
His jaw clenched, his nostrils flared, as he held my gaze.
"Out of all of the women in this goddamn Earth, Silvio had to find a dumb woman like you. Do you even have any plan, Quintin? What would you do? Tell me, I wanna hear." He shook me grabbing my arm.
Did he just called me dumb?
Yanking my arm out of his grasp, I stepped back. My emotions reciprocating his.
"My game plan is to go inside that fucking room and get Silvio out of there. What is so hard to understand?!" I said anger completely taking over me.
"That's not how that works, sweetheart. You'll walk inside that room and you'll get killed before you had your chance to look for Silvio." He explained. "Not to mention what Silvio would do to me after that." He grumbled.
"I can protect myself-"
"This is life or death. They have guns-"
"I can dodge-"
"Oh really? Bullet? You can dodge bullets now?" He mocked.
I went to speak and then frowned as my shoulders slumped down. He was probably right. Was I really losing my senses like this. How much did I drank? Alcohol was really getting to me, right?
You didn't even saw alcohol, you dumbass!
I felt Micah grabbing my wrist as he mumbled.
"A fucking disaster." He dragged us all the way along the hallway. My eyes still narrowed, thinking what would be consequences of leaving silvio behind. The earlier atmosphere seemed to violent in the room. What if Severin or worst, Silas hurt him?
My heart clenched.
"Then what do we do? You said he would be okay, what're the possibilities of him getting out of there unharmed?" I asked, letting him drag me wherever he wanted to. His back was to me, but I could hear him sighing heavily.
"Patience, cherié.." he said opening the attachment door, the bright hallways was replaced with dark room with red lights. Though it was slightly dark, I could saw silhouettes of various objects, few liquor bottles, and smoky smell of cigarettes.
I was impatient, I wanted to know what was their paln, how would Silvio escape, would he be okay. I was dragged all the move to another door where another bodyguard was waiting. His reflexes were quick as he saw us nearing him. He opened the door when cold night air brushed over my naked skin. As much as I was worried about Silvio, the more I was becoming restless.
A black car pulled over in front as I shielded my eyes.
Micah again grabbed my arm.
"They'll take you to mansion." My eyes snapped at him. "You'll eat dinner and will go to your room. Be a good prisoner." My mood worsened. His words were more toxic than this man. I never hated anyone more than him.
I yanked my arm and gritted my teeth.
"Fuck off!"
He smirked before pushing me inside the car. My mind grazed over to Silvio again. No matter how much I hated that man for ruining my life but I never wanted him dead. My mind kept thinking about him as I was drove away from our destination towards the mansion. The night was calm, serene unlike the turmoil in my heart.
We reached mansion almost in blink of an eyes. Alfred asked me to have dinner but I refused. I wasn't much hungry. I was escorted to my room. After changing clothes, I laid on bed. My eyes looking at ceiling. Mind blowing up with thoughts.
Would he be okay?
I tossed and turned. I was tired but I couldn't sleep knowing Silvio was out there, surrounded by his rivals. I wasn't ready to see his dead body. The thought was heart-rending. Wild scenarios played in my head like nightmares.
