Chapter 9 Two gunshots
I didn't knew how I made it home, but somehow I had managed to found myself in shower, naked and shivering under hot water. I only had vague recollection of events that happened today-Silvio's warning, meeting in cafe, his threat.
Silvio Salvatore, a multimillionaire, who killed innocent boy working at Saint. John's, the hospital I worked for.
My knees folded under me, and I sink to the floor panting.
Silvio Salvatore, a killer was sitting at the cafe with me. I swallowed hard. The water rushed down on me, the spray almost painfully hot, but I couldn't stop shivering.
Would he come for me?
Would he kill me?
My panic intensified, and I lied down, curling up in a fetal position on the tile floor. My hairs were all over my face, wet and thick, and my throat constricted as memories of today's conversation pressed in.
One breath in, one breath out, slow and steady.
Slowly, the suffocating sensation recedes, leaving only fear behind. I was feeling exhausted and it took everything in me to get up and turn off the shower.
Wrapping a towel around myself, I stumbled to bedroom and walked towards closet. Grabbing the closest T-shirt, I put it on and grabbed nearby pairs of panties before falling on my bed. Taking small, shallow breaths, I curled up to my right side, hugging the blanket to my chest. I was feeling scared after all those years, and I needed to think, to understand what had happened today, and to figure out what to do next.
I met the killer of a innocent man who was nothing but pure, in a cafe.
I didn't understand why was he after me? Did he wanted to kill me too? But what had I done to deserve such thing?
Killers didn't need reason to kill, a soft voice of distress whispered near my ear.
He was a killer, hence he met me in public place, in crowd. He wanted me to knew who he was, however he was giving me danger vibes, still he decided to not hide his true identity from me. Why take that kind of risk?
Unless....unless it wasn't a risk for him.
Anger ignites inside me, turning over I grabbed my phone. I sat up, and dialed emergency number. I was about to press call when a sudden thought froze me.
Could he be watching me now?
My breathing quickened, my skin pricking with adrenaline. If Silvio had been stalking me for few days, he might had some resources. He knew my name even though I never told him. He knew things about me a normal person wouldn't knew without knowing me. And now I was on his radar-
Olivia!
My heart hammered wildly inside my ribcage when I thought about Olivia, who was unaware of situation. I pondered if I should warn her about him, or should I keep this to myself so that my little sister could stay away from mess?
What if he threatened Olivia?
No! No! No!
My panic was risen and his handsomely devil face was lingering front of my eyes like a reel of haunted movie. Gradually, I closed my eyes when exhaustion wrapped around me wholly and let myself fall into deep slumber where there were no one except me and my demons.

Silvio watched Sadie through the glass window of his car as she entered hospital. Then he opened his laptop and brought up the camera feed from inside the hallway.
He watched as she was stopped by same man she went to restaurant few days ago. Something ugly stirred inside him as she gave a polite smile to Eric. His jaw clenched, he didn't wanted to saw her with him; just the idea of them together made him want to plunge his blade between his ribs and rip his insides out. Few days ago, when she went to restaurant with him, Silvio fought the urge to smash his grinning mouth on table and empty the six bullets of his gun in his head.
He might not had claimed her yet, but she was going to be his.
"Is she your new toy?" Dante grumbled sitting beside Silvio with his hands folded across his chest.
"She looks like she'd be fun.." Silvio smirked. "However, I don't need a new toy."
Dante shook his head subtly though his eyes followed her frame on screen. "She's a doctor, a innocent woman, with career and all."
Sadie smiled brightly at Eric as he engulfed her in his arms and pulled away after a moment. Dante didn't missed dark looking on Silvio's face before Silvio grunted and huffed in annoyance.
Dante was about to say something else to get Silvio's attention off Sadie as Silvio slammed his fists on the glass window of car.
Dante watched a scales shattered into billion pieces and collapsed on Silvio's lap.
"What's wrong?" Dante asked suspiciously, afraid if Silvios's anger was directed to Sadie.
"Motherfucker's gonna die!" Silvio gritted looking at screen.
Dante sighed.
Sadie waved bye to Eric as her smile quickly fell. She thought about the lie she told to Eric that she was called for emergency, that she had to go home early without information him.
She went inside her cabin when again suffocating air surrounded her. She felt claustrophobic, and her fear slowly came back.
A sharp knock brought her out of her daze when Sophie's head peeled inside.
"Did you hear?" Sophie asked with strained voice. Sadie knew what she was doing to say what was about to come out of her mouth.
"What're you talking about?" Sadie said narrowing her brows in fake confusion. She couldn't risk telling anyone about Silvio.
"Mark, our receptionist, was murdered." Sophie said with remorse in her voice. Sadie gulped hard and not looking at Sophie and turned around before clutching the sides of her table before breathing tensely. Mark was dead and she knew his killer.
"I don't know why our city is getting more unsafe passing day, but we really do need protection. News headlines are stating that maybe it is work of some street gang but some people are raising suspicions on owner of warehouse where Mark was found, what was his name...uh...yeah! Silvio Salvatore." Sophie said thoughtfully. Sadie held back her scream.
"Anyways, I hope his soul rest in peace amd he gets justice he deserves." Saying this, Sophie walked away leaving Sadie with tormenting thoughts.
Calm down, nothing bad will happen.
She assured herself and took deep breaths. Maybe police would automatically found about him. And probably he would be send you jail for his crime.
She picked up her files and went to patients ward. Maybe spending some time with children would ease her mind.
At the time when her shift was about to end, she packed all her stuff, security the files in cabin's locker, switching all the lights and fans off, she walked towards the exit.
Her day was worse, wherever she went, alls he heard was about Mark, how peoples presumed he died? And how they were giving their opinion who might be his killer. She felt awful knowing that she couldn't help the poor boy, she knew who his killer was and yet she was unable to tell anyone. She pulled her phone out of her purse, before checking her message box, and dialed Olivia's number.
"Hello?" Olivia said after three bells.
"Hello. Olivia, it's me." Sadie said sighing in relief thats he was alright.
"I know. Is there something?" Olivia asked. Sadie could make a guess that she was again drunk.
"Where are you?" Sadie didn't wanted her to be again at club. She prayed.
"Home." Olivia said and Sadie heard shuffling before sound of breaking of glass heard from other side.
"Don't go anywhere. I'll be home in ten." Sadie said impatiently and sped her speed. Taking a cab would take twenty minutes and she didn't had much time so she decided to walk home. Her apartment was near and it would probably take her twenty to thirty minutes to walk home.
The sun was set replacing the bright sky with darkness and light of moon. She sighed, she liked night but she didn't liked creatures of night. Taking fast and urgent steps, she clutched her purse tightly to her chest. The streets were empty, and sounds of vehicles were coming from other side of building.
She was about to take a left turn when cold wind hit her face and she realised she had forgotten her coat at hospital. She chuckled lowly, how stupid of me? She was three blocks away from her apartment building when a clicker of shadow on her right caught her attention. Her heart beat quickened and adrenaline rushed through her veins as two homeless-looking men stepped out of dark, right in front of her. Her fear rose as lights coming from streets reflected on their blades.
"Your bag," the shorter one snarled, motioning to her bag. "Give it here, bitch. NOW!" He growled as other one took a step towards her making her take a step back.
Sadie reached for her bag before he could even finished speaking, her ivy cold fingers slipped from straps and bag fell on the ground.
"You bitch! Give this bag here!" He hissed, growing impatient. She knew if she would make a run back, they would catch her easily and in this dark night there was no one to help her.
Shaking my she kneel to ground and was about to pick her bag up when a shadow cut in front of her.
Gasping, she fell back, catching herself on her palms, as a tall dark figure rammed into two men in front of her as three of them disappeared in dark alley beside the building. She heard two panicked cries and two gunshots followed as all sounds died.
Oh god! Oh god! Oh god! Oh god!
She panicked as she scrambled backwards barely giving attention to cemented footpath she previously was walking on. She almost screamed as her rescuer stepped out of the dark alley, her fear rose, and her mind froze when she saw very familiar devilish face of Silvio Salvatore.
"Are you okay?" His voice was hard like his steely gaze. And once again she fould herself paralysed, yet again his terrified aura wrapped around her.
He killed them. He just fucking killed them.
Her mind reminded her in stupor. The bomb of terror exploded inside her and she jumped to her feet and a terrified scream left her mouth. She was about to turn away to run in other direction as dark figure stepped towards her, streetlights illuminating on his face.
Handsomely yet devilish face.
"St-" Her mouth seized shut as Silvio's hard and rough arms wrapped around her arm and pulled her to his equally hard chest. She stood there, paralyzed, in shock, in dread, in confusion.
"Come, I'll drop you home." His voice was deep with anger and something else she couldn't put her fingers on. She was scared, terrified and equally devastated.
She didn't felt her tongue, to answer him, to tell him to let her go. Slowly, and gradually shock turned into anticipation a Silvio bended down and scooped her rip in his strong arms. She opened her mouth to resist and to call police or ambulance, but nothing squeezed out of her mouth.
On other hand, killing was normal for Silvio as he he did that everyday.
She finally found her voice, "put me down, please." It was thin, a shallow whisper but the man carrying her heart it loud and clear. Slowly, her fear replaced with panic as she put her trembling hands on his shoulders. "Please I-I can walk home."
He glanced down at her with dark look.
"You're coming with me." His voice was dark like the look in his eyes.
She finally saw him getting near a black car, in which he dropped her home few days ago and cried and struggled in his arms.
"Let me go!" Her cries intensified and he fought the urge to tie her to seat of his car.
He gently put her down before pushing her inside the car. She struggled and kicked but his hold was firmer.
Silvio closed the door with unwanted force, which made Sadie jump as she looked at him circle around to get in driver's seat. He was in front, when she grabbed the handle and pushed the door open and nearly tumbled out of his car. Her mind and body was still slow from shock, but she had recovered enough to comprehend that she needed to run.
Two men were killed in front of her.
The cold wind knocked her senses as she ran towards nowhere, her destination was unfinalised but all she knew was, she needed to get away from Silvio Salvatore.
She was less than twenty feet away from alley when a strong arm looked around her torso, and a hard hand slapped around her mouth. "You like me to chase after you, don't you?" A familiar voice growled in her ear. And then she felt him dragging her back to his car.
She doubled her efforts when Silvio pushed her inside car, much careless this time and secured her with seat belt and usher to other side before locking the car.
Silvio pressed the keys in and drove away with scared Sadie beside him, leaving the scene of crime behind. Now all she feared was man driving beside her, whose knuckles were turned white with anger and his eyes were glowing with fury, his jaw clenched tightly.
She was dead, she realized.
