Chapter 37 Alejandro
Madam." A voice called me. A female. A warm palm is placed upon my shoulder softly shaking me from my slumber.
I opened my eyes with every energy I had left as the sunlight peering through the slits of the window shade struck deep. Confusion was the first aspect that arises within me on this very new day.
A small yawn escaped my lips, as I stretch my arms whilst flexing my limbs. Tying my loose hair up in a quick bun I finally acknowledged the woman's call.
"Y-yes." That was all I said. Dressed in a deep shade of brown, a woman was standing near the bed frame. My eyes groggily addressed her presence as I looked her way. Her pale green eyes greeted me with a small smile on her thin lips. Her pale cream skin shinned with rays of sun piercing through the sheer curtains draped along with the railed window.
"Master Alejandro is calling you." Alejandro? Yes! The vile old man.
I nodded, lowering my head. My mind pondered over things that happened last night. My unplanned escape. The unprepared war of truths. The wild discoveries. Not to mention my wicked ex. It was too much for me to digest. The weight too much for me to lift, the stigma stinging the vague sensations of knowing half-truth stirred frustration inside me. I knew, yet I failed.
The maid had already left, before placing a few clothes on the table beside the cold bed I had spent the night in. My eyes looked over. Last night was too tiring and agitating for me to even notice the cage I was given. The plain white walls, confining the small room. With only one single-sided bed and two chairs in corners, a door leading to relieve me, and a wall mirror in the front wall.
The old man was quite strategic to rail the windows so that I couldn't make any escape, not that I was planning anyways. I needed the truth which I assumed only Alejandro could provide me.
Sighing, I pulled the cold sheets aside before getting up. My bare feet touched the cold cemented floor as I walked towards the adjacent door, bathroom perhaps.
My thoughts were deteriorating. I had increased my paranoid assumptions to induce the fragments of life I had left behind. With Silvio. With the so-called family. It was absurd but I was missing him, not terribly but achingly. I had not any vague idea of what would happen to me. Was I assigned for destruction?
Washing yesterday's tiredness off, I just gave my attention solely to the current situation. Alejandro knew so much, maybe too much for my liking. Edward was also here and god knows what he had in store for me.
I found a clean towel in the cabinet. Wrapping it around myself, I walked inside the room. Picking up the plainclothes the maid had left, I dressed. A plain brown pair of pants, and a white solid full-sleeved shirt. There were no undergarments and it made me conscious of the way my upper body looked.
Trying to manage the look, I parted my hairs in half and pulled them down from the front, so that half of my locks would be reaching my belly button. It hides away the outer-lining of my erect buds.
Swallowing hard I also noticed that I had nothing to cover my feet with.
Not that I cared but the morning air was quite cold.
A knock was heard as the same maid stepped inside.
"Follow me." Her Italian accent was thick, a rugged contrast to her angelic face. Nodding my head, I followed her. Every time my bare feet kissed the cold floor, a wave of electricity managed to pass through my body. Shrugging my discomfort, I gathered the questions in my mind that I had initially planned to throw at Alejandro.
She led me through the same hallway I walked through last night. Just now, the darkness was swept by bright sunlight.
I was afraid. But this fear was something different. One which kills both my mind and soul from within. The realization that I had betrayed Silvio, not practically but emotionally indeed. I was feeling strange, just like I felt when he went missing for a few days in New York.
I had no idea if I would ever see him again, but this thought alone crushed my heart in gazillion pieces. His cold grey eyes, the way they softened while gazing at me. His rough hands, how he molded me into his own whenever I was in his arms. The dominance, he instructed on me to make me his, completely his.
He may not realize yet but I was slowly painting myself into his colors. White. Black. Grey.
A sad sigh escaped my lips.
I missed him.
"You can go straight.... the first hall to the left. Master doesn't like staff involved." The maid hastily announced making me frown. I barely nodded and walked ahead. Master? Who exactly was Alejandro? A dangerous man that much I knew of. But how much? I was yet to find it.
My ears twitched as I neared the hallway. I could hear indistinct voices from inside. One I particularly recognized as Alejandro's. Nearing the hallways more, I could hear his yelling. And one another voice. I couldn't recognize it but I felt quite familiar.
Who got him yelling like that?
Steadily, trying not to make any noise, I got closer. My brows furrowed in a frown, a look of confusion evident on my face.
"Perché è qui, padre? mi avevi promesso the l'avresti Tenuta lontana da Tutta questa merda?!" An angry voice yelled back. My ears quipped with interest and slight annoyance. I couldn't understand the language but I could feel the distraction in tone.
(Why is she here, father? You promised me, you would keep her away from all this shit?!)
"Nonrovinare l'intero dannato piano!" I heard angry Alejandro screaming. I somehow felt bad for another person. Quietly I looked past the open door only to gaze at angry-looking Alejandro screaming at another person.
(Don't ruin the whole goddamn plan!)
I couldn't see his face due to the angle, but I could see his back cladded with a black suit jacket and matching pants. His broad shoulders blocked the adjacent view but all I could see was Alejandro's enraged face.
Craning my neck slightly, I was about to take a look at the stranger's face when my left foot twisted and with a loud gasp, I fell on my knees. A sting of pain resonated through the joint of my foot whilst I tried to stand up.
"Damn!" I groaned painfully when I realized I had just sprained my ankle.
"fottuti guai." I heard someone say, it was this eerie feeling that was clawing my guts, I didn't know exactly what but I feel it.
(Fucking trouble)
"Eavesdropping is contagious, medico."
My cheeks flared red with embarrassment as Alejandro held out his hand for me to grab. By this time the stranger had turned around. I didn't look at him as I placed both of my hands on either side of me before getting up. Alejandro chuckled politely retreating his hand.
As I was about to stand, the whole weight of my body fell over my ankles as I unintentionally tripped forward. I closed my eyes for another impact, whilst I found my palms pressed against the soft material of black coat, two rough pairs of hands wrapped around my waist.
"Easy there."
My breath hitched as I looked up.
W-was this a joke?
I would have never imagined myself to be in this delusional position. My throat dried as I stared at him. Just like before he had a glint in his hazel orbs, a beautiful spark in those orbs. Adding manliness to his face, he had a new faint scar running from his right cheek to his hairline. Few scratches covered his face, rather he looked model of perfection.
"S-Silas." My voice came out as a whisper, a shaky sound following. My eye widened, my palms clutched onto his jacket with anxiety. His arms instinctively tightened.
"At least, she remembers me." He chuckled lightly, his eyes sweeping over my face. Out faces too close as I could feel his hot breath over my skin.
I blinked.
Once.
Twice.
Just like I had touched fire, I immediately let go before pushing him. The impact instead send me flying backward, the man didn't even budge.
"Relax, senorita. You're going to get yourself-"
"W-what're you doing here? How do you know-"
I looked traumatized between older and younger men when I joined one and one together. Same eyes, same fucking features. How could I be this idiot to not notice the similarities? What was wrong with me? How could I be so stupid?
"Y-You're his....his.."
"Son. Yeah, right. Now come here." Silas said, rolling his eyes broadly before taking a step towards me. I was about to take a step back when my foot again twisted, but this time Silas was there to catch my arm in his hand before jerking me towards him.
"No! Leave me alone! You bastard!"
My screams become louder as he carried me. The man wasn't least affected as he gently placed me on the couch nearby.
"Show me your foot." I looked confused by the way he kneeled in front of me before taking a leg and positioning it over his knees, examining my ankle. "A fucking troublemaker." He mumbled under his breath as I looked agitated at him. What was he doing?
I hissed as he applied little pressure over the particular spot. He glared at me.
"Have patience, cara."
Cara.
A pang of guilty build up inside me as I stared at him. Why was he behaving so weirdly? Last night he looked like he didn't want me there. Then why was this behavior so confusing.
"Is Randy here? Ask him to bring Dr. Clara." Silas commanded as he inspected my broken ankle. His father, Alejandro rolled his eyes as he stepped towards us. Placing a hand over his son's shoulder, he grumbled.
"She's alright. Clara will take care of her injury." Silas contemplated, his eyes flickered between his father and my foot. He almost looked like he wanted to argue but with a defeated sigh and one last look at me, he nodded.
"I-I don't understand. Were you lying to me this whole time?" I stammered as I gazed at Alejandro, punished tears accumulating at the corners of my eyes.
Silas groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"You fucking told her everything, didn't you? Was it that difficult for you hide-"
"Hide?! Today or tomorrow, she was going to know the truth. Don't blame me for your recklessness! I'm just trying to clean the mess you created!"
Silas flinched at his father's words as he shook his head.
"Mess? I don't understand, father. You're cleaning the shit, you started years ago. Don't bring me into this."
I couldn't understand a thing but I decided to listen.
Alejandro's anger fumed as he circled his son.
"Don't bring you?! Then what the fuck were you doing yesterday? Huh?! Tell me!" Silas rolled his eyes at his father's words. I looked perplexed at the duo, their words confusing me more and more. I had a minute idea where this was going but my assumptions could be wrong.
"I was there for a reason."
"Destroying Silvio Salvatore should be your mere goal."
My eyes widened, my ears twitched. A sharp pain clutched my heart just like a sliver of glass had lanced through my heart.
Silas immediately looked my way, his gaze noted my discomfort as something representing the sympathy flashed through them.
"I know." He merely whispered. My anxiousness grew. No! No!
His eyes never left mine as a lone tear escaped from mine.
"But, I couldn't. I couldn't press the trigger." Alejandro scoffed disapprovingly.
Was I wrong? Was my decision of fleeing wrong? What had fate in store for me.
