Chapter 46 Mother
He was distorted.
Feelings molded into a sharp knife that gradually pierced through his heart like a burning ember of sizzling flame.
He was scared.
The morphed knife held power to make him surrender. To make him feel vulnerable, an unknown emotion he never felt. Susceptibility seeped through his mind, tormenting his sentiments into a pained expression. He had survived long to know the darkness of the world, he had seen enough to liable her safety. Silas knew his father, even better than Alejandro knew himself. And Silas was also concious about the extents his father was ready to go to achieve what he resignedly craved. It was no more for clan extension, it no more concerned the hunger of power but a sated word. Revenge.
It was always that.
And Sadie was coming in his way.
Silas sighed again. These thoughts were more intoxicated than alcohol he had consumed. He might had assured his father that he would make him proud but question arises, how? Silvio was no fool to let Silas put a bullet to his chest. And he also wasn't halfwit to let him have Sadie. All the problem led to only one answer.
Silvio's death.
Shaking the thoughts away, he gently opened the door. The same four white walls greeted him, sound of machine rhythmically clicked as he closed the door behind. It had been a week since he visited her last. He had lost track of time when was the last time he visited this room. His eyes immediately landed on still figure of woman as he walked closer. His heart thumped with each step, lungs constricted with each breath. It had always been difficult for him to be here.
"How are you, mother?" He asked softly. The smoothness matched his eyes. The chair creaked as he put his weight on it, and turned to look towards the woman. It pained him to see her like this. It always feels like the warmth of his life had turned into glacial drop. Years had passed and he still was disappointed in himself.
Like always, he didn't received any response. It wasn't new, but the pain it always brought was fresh and evident.
With a shaky breath, he clasped his trembling hand around his mother's hand. The coldness reminded him of that night years ago. Just like a flower writhing in autumn, he felt her losing her light that night.
"Doctor said you're recovering well. He said you can wake up any time." It can be after a day, or week, or month or even a year. He wanted to forget those words. He wanted to be positive for her, for himself. He loved her too much to lose her. He couldn't go through the same pain, same grieve he had suffered when he lost his little sister.
The little boy had uncountable tears in his eyes as he ran through the long hallways of the mansion. His foot pushed along the floor as he panted whilst loud sobs and screams echoed in the empty house. He didn't knew what was happening, only one thing ringed in his ears.
They were attacked.
"MIA!" He shouted as he looked around. His breaths came out short as he opened the door of the room he was aiming for. "Mia!" He again yelled. His hazel eyes roamed around the pink walls of room as he looked around. Heaving and panting, he rushed inside the wardrobe and bathroom. But still nothing. He couldn't find her.
"Where are you Mia?" He whispered in worry. His ears twitched when he heard rushed footsteps coming towards the room he was in. He jumped as the door opened and his older brother came inside. Silas was shocked as he saw blood covered clothes of Severin. His eyes watered immediately. He ran towards him.
"What happened, brother?! Why is there blood-"
"Listen, Silas! You need to leave! NOW!" Severin said as he grabbed him by his arm and bellowed him towards the door. Silas was hesitant. He didn't knew why was his brother covered in blood. Was he hurt? Where was Mia?
"B-but Mia! She's not here." Silas cried pointing towards the pink room. Severin shook his head.
"No. She's safe. Father has her. But you need to leave. Immediately." Severin put pressure on his words as he dragged four year old towards the back of the mansion. Silas looked fearfully, averting his eyes as they passed several dead bodies laid across their path. He had never witnessed this. His eyes were wide, filled with chasmic fright. He hadn't realised when his body had started trembling.
They were about to cross the door leading backside when Silas heard angry voices and loud gunshots from his left. Severin cursed under his breath as he pulled Silas behind the nearby pillar. Placing his hand over four-year old's mouth, Severin hushed him.
"YOU BASTARD! WHERE THE FUCK IS SHE?!" Silas heard familiar angry voice as he tried to look towards the shouts.
"Just admit it, Salvatore. You have lost. You've proven how much of a disgrace you're to your throne. You don't deserve it! You're just a useless piece of shit!" Silas heard annoyed voice of his father. He had never hear him this angry. Swallowing down the fear, Silas managed to caught glimpse of the scene.
He was quick to recognise the man. He was Antonio Salvatore, one of his father's friend. But why were they fighting? Friends don't fight. He thought.
"Give her back to me and I'll back off. I just need her." Silas heard Antonio muttering through clenched jaw. He didn't knew what he was talking about.
"You're ready to give up your throne for a pussy?" Silas heard his father chuckling. "What's so good about her anyways? She barely let me touch her."
Antonio gritted his teeth, his anger building up. His fists clenched tightly and all he saw was red. He growled loudly before pouching on Alejandro.
"You fucking prick! You dared to touch her! She's mine! FUCKING MINE!" Silas forget how to breathe as he saw Antonio landing rain on punches. Alejandro couldn't understand what happened when he was thrown towards the wall and not a second was given to retaliate when Antonio smashed his head on the adjacent wall. Blood seeped through his head.
"Mmmh-" Silas struggled in Severin's grip as he looked wide eyed at the scene in front. Severin shook his head as sweat dripped down his face. He knew consequences. He couldn't go there. His father had strictly ordered him to get Silas out of her. Only Silas.
"Stop it, please!" Antonio's body tensed as he turned around. He couldn't describe the emotions. Four years. It had been four years. His eyes raked over her body, she had gotten skinny, malnourished, he once flawless face looked exhausted as she stood there, on foot on stairs wearing the long white nightdress. Her once long soft hairs were now short, reaching barely her shoulders. But when their gaze met, the intensity was same.
"Deliah..." He whispered, too caught up in her teary eyes when he didn't noticed Alejandro quickly getting up on his feet.
Severin quickly noted the situation and dragged struggling Silas towards the door, behind the pillars.
"What're you doing?" Antonio asked both puzzled and surprised when he looked towards her hand. She shook her head as sobs erupted through her. Raising her hand, she positioned the gun right above her abdomen. Both men looked startled at her as she pointed towards them.
"You've ruined me. I'm ruined." Silas looked wide eyes as Severin dragged him. From his visual, he saw her pointing towards Antonio.
Silas couldn't process what happened when he heard the loud gunshot and next moment, her body was rolling down the stairs. A loud scream rolled off his tongue as Severin ran towards the doors. He screamed, cried, struggled but Severin couldn't let him go.
"NO! MOTHER!"
"Mother." He whispered softly.
Silas couldn't shake away the horrified memories. He just remembered specifics details after that. Like how his father killed Antonio. How he had carried Deliah's bloodied body with him. Her chances were low, but still Alejandro managed to get her out. Silas was relieved to know that she was still alive but her injuries were serious. Alejandro had paid millions, just to keep her alive. Silas knew chances of her getting up were slim, but he still held to that little thread of hope. And in all this hustle, how he had lost his little sister, Mia. Mia's body wasn't found as the mansion was blasted off. That night, family of five had reduced into three.
Silas was mad at Severin for that.
But Severin had explained himself. Saying his safety was prior to him.
Silas didn't knew anything after that.
That night he had promised his father. That he would avenge his mother, avenge his mother.
He gently caressed her cold cheek as he gazed softly at her. He had missed looking into her blue orbs that reminded him of glacial ocean, with soft icicles dancing in them. Her once dark hairs were now turning grey, her flawless skin had wrinkled. She had lost her glow. Her body ahd reduced into skins and bones.
He licked his dry lips apprehensively as her face morphed into Sadie's.
And his heart squeezed.
He blinked his eyes. Once. Twice. Unable to breathe, he rubbed his chest.
"I can't lose her, madré. I can't lose her."
~~
"I did what you told me to do."
Alejandro nodded his head. His palms balled into fists as he glared at her.
"Don't raise your voice at me, girl."
He seethed out.
The tall woman rolled her eyes as she flipped her hairs back. The long crimson dressed clung to her curves as she turned around. Her smooth skin looked flawless whilst she heaved a deep sigh.
"Why? What can you do? Kill me? You've already done that." She said sarcastically. Her lips twisted in frustration as she looked over shoulder and glared at him. She felt amusement bubbling inside her as she saw him clenching his jaw.
"Don't test my patience." Alejandro growled, refusing to hear any more of her sassy remarks. It and been only few weeks and she was getting on his nerves already.
"Patience's a virtue." She raised her brow at him.
"Get out of here before anyone sees you. Don't show me your face unless I ask you to."
"You were singing different tune few days ago. What happened now? What changed?" She said tilting her head to side and crossing her arms over her chest. The man heaved a deep breath to control himself.
"Miranda-"
"Miranda? You really calling me that now." She scoffed. Unfolding her arms, she walked towards him. Her heels clacked against the floor when she reached him. The looked towards her, his glare digging holes into her.
"You might are a shitty person but don't pretend to act smart with me. I can turn this whole game you've been playing like this," she clicked her fingers front of his face and clenched her jaw. "So, don't try to play nice and make me your ally."
"You were never an enemy either."
"How do you know?" She smirked as blood drained from Alejandro's face. He gave her stern look before muttering.
"I despised traitors."
"Then that means you hate yourself too?" She quirk her brow at him. Alejandro scoffed.
"Do whatever you want, but if you try to step inbetween, I won't hesitate to pull the trigger."
Miranda rolled her eyes before backing away. She threw her hands in air in disappointment as she walked away. Unbothered by his threats, she said.
"You're a shitty father as well."
