13. Rain

**Rain**

White takes me to the same place as the previous night.
When we are in front of the clearing, White stops walking sits on his haunches, and looks at me.
"You really love this place?" I ask him and White nods.
I look at the clearing and I think I can understand why White loves this place. It is so peaceful here. And there's no doubt it is a magical place. I think of that fire I once felt inside of me and for the first time in my life, I wonder if it was magic too. But that fire is dead so I guess I will never know.
Safia is once more curious about the place. Even if she is still not talking to me, I am happy to feel her react to something. I just hope she will speak with me soon. I miss her terribly.
"You want to spend the night here?" I ask White and he nods. A small giggle wants to escape my lips but I bit my lower lip, and inhale deeply. "Next time I should bring a blanket and a pillow."
White narrows his eyes cocks his head to the side and looks at me, thinking.
"It was just a joke. I wasn't talking seriously," I say to White when I realize he is thinking about the possibility. "I like spending time with you, but I am not a big fan of the outdoors. One or two nights sleeping in the forest I can do, but that's my limit."
White looks at me with curiosity. I can even see the question in his eyes—'Why don't you like the outdoor?'
"Let's sit down and I will tell you about it," I say and enter the clearing. I take my coat and scarf off look at the grass for a few moments. Then I sit on the grass, with my back leaning against a rock. White sits next to me, puts his head in my lap, and looks into my eyes. "My former pack used to starve me. They would give me food, but if I did something bad, they would let me starve for one or two days. One time, when I was eleven they hadn't fed me for three days. During the fourth night, I was so hungry that I got out of my room and went to the kitchen to find some food. Mrs. Marian, the werewolf that is in charge of the kitchen caught me eating an apple. Naturally, I was punished. The Alpha—" I swallow hard when I think of the werewolf that ruined my life. "He had me sleep outside the Pack House for three nights. It was summer so I didn't mind it. When I woke up I was covered in red ants and bites all over. Since then I am not a fan of sleeping outside. Last night you also took me by surprise and I didn't had time to think about ants."
White growls and I pat his head. Moments later he stops growling and he licks my hand.
"You have a thing for licking. If you like doing it so much you should lick ice cream instead of me," I say, and White looks at me with curiosity. "Don't tell me you haven't had ice cream before?" I ask and White shakes his head. "You have no idea what you are missing! Ice cream is the best! Chocolate and caramel! Or strawberry and vanilla" I say and moan. "But my absolute favorite is chocolate and mint!"
White makes a sound similar to a chuckle and I narrow my eyes and say, "Try some ice cream and we will talk about it later." White thinks for a moment then nods. "So," I start saying, "I have been thinking about you today and I was wondering who you are. Well, who your human part is. Do I know him?" I ask White and he nods.
I think of all the males I have met in the pack since I came to live here. There is Caleb, Conon, Reyes, Blade, Jeremy, and a few more males that I don't remember their names. I am certain it is not Caleb because I am sure his wolf is just like him—bossy and annoying. I don't see White as Caleb's wolf.
"Is it Blade?" I ask and White shakes his head. "Reyes?" and White shakes his head one more. "Wait! Don't tell me is Conon!" I say while I pray to the Moon Goddess it's not the Beta. White chuckles a little more before shaking his head. I sigh in relief, "Thank the Goddess! That male is too much! He is so intense!" I say and White chuckles once more. I look at White for a while and he stares back at me. "Well, whoever he is I hope that I can meet him soon. I bet he is just like you—friendly."
White thinks for a long moment, lifts his head, and gives me a short nod. Then puts his head back on my lap and looks at me for a little longer, before closing his eyes. I start stroking his fur and also close my eyes.
I don't remember when I had fallen asleep, but next thing White is licking my face like it is the end of the world.
"I am awake," I say to him. "You can stop with the licking!"
White stops; sits on his haunches and looks at me.
I look at the sky and see it is dawn.
"I suppose it is time to get back to the pack," I say, and White nods.
I sit up, grab my coat and scarf and start walking towards the pack. White walks next to me.
The air is chilly, but the cold never really did bother me. My favorite season is winter. While my former pack was busy with the Christmas Party, and not paying attention to me, Mrs. Smith would give me a bowl full of ice cream. So, while I was growing up I could hardly wait for the moment when I would receive ice cream again.
When we are close to the Rogue Village I look at White, "Tonight we should do something else." He gives me a short nod and I ask, "Same time?" White nods.
I wave at him and rush to the Pack House. I get inside my room, shower, change into the gym suit and wait for Caleb to come. At least tomorrow I have a free day.
It doesn't take long for Caleb to come after me.
"Hi, Red. Happy to see you are ready for training. But first, I want to talk to you about something," he says to me.
I narrow my eyes, and "About what?"
"How about we go to the kitchen, and eat some ice cream while we talk?" he suggests.
Did he just say ice cream? Even Safia reacts to the word ice cream and sends me an image of the word 'yes'.
I am so happy that Safia finally said something to me that I practically hug Caleb and scream, "She is talking to me again!"
Caleb chuckles, "I am not sure what made you so happy, but I like it."
I blush when I realize what I did. I let go of him, "Sorry! I didn't meant to do that." I head to the door, and before I open it I ask, "Where did you say that that ice cream is?"
Caleb looks at me, "I asked Blade to prepare some bowls for us. Let's go to the kitchen."
We walk in silence to the kitchen, and I wonder what does Caleb wants to talk to me about. When we are in the kitchen Caleb pulls a chair for me and says, "Sit."
After he helps me with the chair he takes two bowls full of ice cream and puts one of them in front of me and the other in front of him. He also gives me a spoon.
I look at my ice cream and gasp. It is chocolate and mint.
"This is my favorite ice cream!" I say and start devouring it.
Caleb sits in front of me and I see he has vanilla and strawberry ice cream. I frown because this can't be a coincidence.
"What color is your wo—?" I start asking at the same time Caleb starts talking to me.
"I need you to help me with an Omega," he says to me.
"What?" I ask in a confused tone.
Caleb sighs, leans on the chair, and looks at me. "His name is Elton. He is sixteen and needs a guardian until he is eighteen."
"You want me to be a guardian of a sixteen-year-old kid? I mean, I'm not sure you looked at me, but I am also a teen. And before you say anything, yes, I know that legaly I am an adult."
"I know you are only eighteen, but I feel that you can understand him better. Both of you are Omegas. And as a guardian, you don't have to do much. Just sign for him."
I stop eating ice cream, fold my arms and look at him. "So this is because I am an Omega?"
"No! That's not it. I've talked to Raven and he thinks it is best if you can help Elton. If you don't want to, I understand. I can find someone else."
I am about to say no when Safia sends me the word 'yes.' And even if I don't want to be responsible for someone, I agree for Safia's sake.
"Alright. But you owe me!" I say.
"Deal!" Caleb says.
"Deal!" I say back and a second later we shake hands.
The moment our palms touch, I feel some strange sparks going between us. Caleb stares at our hands for some time, not letting go of me. I really wish I could see his face.
Safia stares at Caleb through my eyes with interest. She even wants me to sniff him, but I resist the urge to do so.
When a minute passes and Caleb still stares at our hands, I ask, "Is everything alright?"
Caleb looks at me. Moments later he let's go of my hand. I want Safia to tell me what's his expression but she is still busy looking at him.
"Yes! Nothing to worry about," Caleb says. "I was thinking about some pack stuff that I have to do. Today I will finish preparing Elton's file and you can drop by the office on Monday and sign it for me."
Caleb stand and I look at him. Something is off. Even his scent has changed. It is spicier, but not spicy-spicy as in when someone is angry but sweet-spicy as in when someone is shocked about something.
"Is something wrong?" I ask Caleb, as he takes his bowl, half-full of ice cream, and puts it in the sink.
"No. I just remembered that I have to do something. I should go," he says in a distracted tone.
"What about training?" I ask.
"You have the day free. Finish your ice cream. There's more in the freezer," he says and leaves.
As Caleb closes the door behind him, I wonder what crawled up his ass. Moments later I shrug and finish my ice cream. And then I put another bowl of ice cream.
When I am done with the ice cream I return to my room and see another envelope on my bed. I pick it up and sniff it. Still no scent. I open it and take the letter out.
'I would like to show you who I am tonight.'
