32. Rain

**Rain**

Two orgasms later, I pull Raven on top of me. He kisses me, and I can taste myself on his lips.

"Red, my beautiful soulmate! "You taste like candy, and you come like a firecracker!"

"The things you say!" I cup his cheek. "I am so glad to have you and Caleb in my life. I didn't think I would even be happy again. Not until you two."

"I love you, Rain," Raven says, and I go still.

"You love me?" I ask in disbelief.

"I have loved you from the moment I saw you," Raven says. "You and Safia are the best things that happened to me. I could not have asked for a more gorgeous and amazing soulmate."

I circle his neck with my arms. "I think I love you too, Raven." We kiss for a while. "I wish I weren't so broken because I want to trust you and Caleb with my body, but all the bad things that happened in my life left so many scars inside me. I hate the life I had before you. Before Caleb."

"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don't always spoil the good things or make them unimportant."

"That's profound!" I say.

"It's from 'Doctor Who?'," Raven says, and I frown. "It's a TV show."

I laugh. "I am going to let Safia take control over my body. She wants to be with you."

Raven kisses me once more. "Thank you."

Safia takes control, and I listen to how Raven tells her how breathtaking she is. He tells her how much he loves her, and she tells him, using gestures, that she also loves him.

Raven takes his time with Safia, making her come at least three times before I fall asleep.

When I wake up, I am covered with the comforter. Caleb sits next to me, working on his laptop. To my disappointment, he is dressed.

"How long have I been asleep?"

He looks at me. "For about an hour," Caleb says before putting the laptop on the nightstand and handing me a glass of water.

I stand and drink the water. I didn't even realize how thirsty I was. When I finish, I put the glass on the nightstand closer to me.

Something bothers me, and I look at Caleb while I think.

"You didn't finish!" I say when I remember the way he made me come so many times.

Caleb kisses my temple. "It's fine. Besides, this was about you and Safia. It brought me great satisfaction to hear you scream my name!"

"But—" I protest.

"Tonight was about me showing you how it will be between you and me. The next time I will also finish," Caleb says. "We should sleep. Tomorrow you and Elton will start training."

I nod and lay on my back. Caleb rises from the bed.

"Where are you going?" I ask.

"To sleep," Caleb says, pointing at the sofa.

"I don't want you to sleep on that stupid thing! Besides, this bed is big enough for both of us," I say.

Caleb sighs and gets back in bed. He pulls me in his arms, and I rest my head on his chest and close my eyes.

I am half asleep when someone bangs on the door.

"What?" Caleb asks in a loud tone.

"Caleb," I hear Conon's voice, "can I come in?"

I am still naked, and I shake my head.

"Just tell me what you want!" Caleb says.

"Jeremy called me, telling me he couldn't get in touch with you," Conon says.

"My new phone arrives tomorrow," Caleb says. "What did Jeremy say?"

"Code CPP Black!" Conon says.

Caleb curses under his breath. "Is he sure?"

"Positive! I am going to inform the others!"

"How many?" Caleb asks.

"More than ten, but Jeremy is not sure! Could be more."

"Fucking unbelievable! I'll be out in a moment! Get the Enforcers ready!"

I hear how Conon walks away. Caleb hugs me tight before rising from the bed.

"Get dressed!" Caleb says in a cold tone, and I flinch.

I am trying not to get affected by his tone. I stand, pick up my backpack, and go to the bathroom. I wonder what made him so serious.

"Caleb, what is code CPP Black?" I ask while I hurry to get dressed.

"Convicts from the Paranormal Prison have crossed the border. You need to get to the bunker!" Caleb says as he takes out a gun from his wardrobe.

I gasp. "Is the pack in danger?"

"Not as long as I am the Alpha of this pack! But I will make sure they will regret trespassing my territory!"

"Caleb, let me help—"

"No!" he barks, and I take a step back. "Fuck!" Caleb eats the distance between us in a flash. "I am sorry for yelling at you. This is not the first time I have had a CPP Black code. The last time some convicts got inside, two pack members were badly injured. That's why I want you in the bunker because I will lose my shit if someone touches you!"

I nod. "Be careful!"

He kisses my forehead. "I will make those motherfuckers pay for putting a foot inside my pack!"

A loud bang comes from downstairs, followed by some yells. My pulse quickens, and Caleb goes to the wardrobe, takes out a pistol, and gives it to me.

"I don't know how to use it!" I say.

Caleb spends a few minutes showing me how the pistol works.

More shouts come from downstairs, and Caleb grabs my hand and starts walking fast. I have to run to keep up the pace with him.

"We will go look for Elton; then I will take both of you to the bunker," Caleb says.

He opens the door, and we walk in silence. Elton's room is on the first floor, where my room is.

I am trying not to panic. While living in the Crescent Moon Pack, very few attacks happened. Mostly feral wolves dare to attack packs. While rogues are werewolves that choose to live outside a pack, or in the case of those that live in the Black Ruby Rogue Pack, form a group of their own, feral werewolves are criminals. They no longer have boundaries and live to harm others.

I was about fifteen years old when a group of feral wolves made their way inside the Crescent Moon Pack and attacked a group of females Gamma. By the time the Enforcers arrived to aid the Gammas, two of them had already been killed.

When we make it to Elton's room, the door is wide open, and he is not inside.

"Maybe he already went to the bunker," I say.

Caleb nods. "Let's head that way."

The bunker is built under the pack. When I started living in this pack, the therapist explained that in case of an attack, the children and the females have to take shelter inside while the males take care of the threat. I am not a fighter, so hiding sounds good to me.

We are climbing down the stairs and see the entrance door is wide open. Furniture is broken, but no one is in sight. Some blood stains are on the floor, and I inhaled deeply. I smell familiar scents and also scents that don't belong to the pack. I also smell fear and anger, and I shiver.

"Caleb, someone is hurt!"

"I'll take care of it as soon as I get to the bunker!" Caleb says.

"No, Caleb. What if it is a pack member and he needs our help! We need to help!" I say.

"Red, you are my priority! Once you are safe, I can concentrate on the attack!"

A loud yell comes from the kitchen, and I find myself running in that direction. Caleb shouts after me.

"Blade is in danger!" I say. "We have to help him!"

I make it to the kitchen and enter.

Blade is fighting two vampires while Jordan is fighting a feral wolf. I take out the gun Caleb gave me, point it at the feral wolf, and pull the trigger. I miss him, but it is enough to distract him. Jordan manages to subdue him.

Caleb pushes me away and enters the kitchen, going straight at the vampires.

Someone comes behind me, and when I smell his scent, I freeze. No! Not here! Not him! I turn fast and lift the gun, but he slaps me so hard my head hits the door frame, and the gun falls from my hands.

My head hurts, and my cheek stings.

"Red!"

"Rain!"

He grabs me by my hair, pulling so hard I am sure he yanked some strands. He turns me around to face Caleb and Jordan and puts a silver knife at my neck. "If any of you gets close to me, I will kill her!"

"Take your hands off her, and I will give you a quick death!" Caleb roars.

He has his hand around one of the vampires while Blade is fighting the other.

"Let her go, Ben!" Jordan says while pinning Paul to the ground. "Now!"

"Now I am Ben to you? I think you forget I am your father, boy!"

Caleb looks at Jordan but says nothing.

"You are not my father! Not anymore! Let Rain go!"

Alpha Ben laughs. "I don't think so! Let go of Paul, and I won't harm her. Not too much!" he says. Jordan hesitates, and Alpha Ben nicks my skin. Some drops of blood roll down my neck.

"You son of a bitch!" Caleb says while breaking the vampire's neck.

This won't kill the vampire, but it will slow him down for a while.

Caleb takes a step toward Alpha Ben and me.

"Take another step, and I will kill her!" Alpha Ben says, pushing the knife deeper into my neck. Caleb stops.

Jordan lets go of Paul, the feral wolf, and both of them go for the pistol I dropped. Somehow it ended in the kitchen. Caleb lifts his gun and points it at Alpha Ben but doesn't pull the trigger.

'Do it!' I mouth to him, but he shakes his head.

Alpha Ben laughs. "The great Rogue Alpha turns out to be a coward. Paul shoot him!"

While looking at Caleb, I didn't realize that Paul broke Jordan's nose and got my pistol.

Caleb points at Paul, but the feral wolf is faster and shoots my soulmate in the chest. Blood stains his white t-shirt, and Caleb falls to the ground.

"No!" I yell. "Caleb! Raven! Please!"

Alpha Ben and Paul laugh while the last vampire sinks his fangs in Blade's neck.

"You fucking monster!" Jordan says and stands. Blood drips from his nose.

Paul points at his chest.

"Try anything funny, and Paul will also kill you!" Alpha Ben says.

The fire that once I thought was gone ignites inside me, and I want to burn everyone! I want to make Alpha Ben and Paul pay for harming my soulmate. Because I refuse to think Caleb is dead. He can't be.

I lift my palms, but before I can release the fire, Alpha Ben hits the back of my head hard, and the world fades away.
