72. Caleb

**Caleb**

Earlier, when I felt Red getting hurt and could not find her in the Rogue Village, I was trying to pick up her scent when Viki, Sarah, and Emma came running and bellowing about the Demon King attacking the cabin. I knew then where my soulmate was. It took a few minutes to get all the Enforcers, except those patrolling the border and other pack members, ready to fight, and the females and the children sent down to the bunker. As I ran fast through the forest, all I could think about was getting to her before the Demon King killed her.

When I finally had Red in my arms and saw she was not seriously hurt and our baby was safe, I knew I had to send her to the Emerald Realm to keep her safe from the Demon King. But Tatiana is telling me I must keep Red close to me because I am the only one who can keep her safe. How am I supposed to do that when I leave her to nap, and she ends up almost being killed? This brings me back to Reyes and Jordan.

“The blow Jordan suffered did irreparable spinal nerve damage,” Reyes says. I am holding Red’s hand, and she squeezes it hard as she hears about Jordan’s condition. “The injury was made with a silver weapon, and the witches’ magic saved his life. He might suffer from chronic pain, but I will know more after I run some more tests on him.”

I remember Tatiana telling me to keep Jordan in the pack because he would save Red’s life, but I never thought he would end up in a wheelchair.

**‘That fucker saved not only Red but our baby as well. And Zeke too!’** Raven says. He is still shaken by the idea of almost losing our soulmate.

I still tremble from seeing Red wounded, and it is not a lie when I say my soul left my body for a moment. *‘I guess Jordan is not a fucker after all. Even if this does not* *erase what he did to Red, I have to admit he is a good male.’*

Red’s guilt vibrates through our bond. “Can I see Jordan?” she asks Reyes.

“He is currently sedated, but you can enter for a moment to see him,” Reyes replies. “But first, I want to see how you are. Have you been injured or hit during the fight?”

“Yes, but the witches took care of my wounds. Rae Ann examined me earlier,” Red replies.

Reyes nods. “I guess there is no reason you can’t see Jordan then.”

Red and I stand, and Reyes lets us know which is Jordan’s room.

“I want to see Jordan too!” Kevin says. “He is not only my Alpha but my best friend as well!”

Red looks at Kevin and frowns. “Jordan is not your Alpha anymore! Sit down and wait for your turn!”

Kevin mumbles something under his breath about Red and Jordan but does as my soulmate asks. “Even if Jordan will be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, he is still the Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack!”

Red sighs. “That he is. As for you—!” Red says before turning on her heels and heading towards the hallway.

Kevin rubs his face with his hand, and I stare him in the eyes. “This isn’t a situation in which you can choose left or right. You already know what you have to do!” I tell him before going after Red.

Jordan is on the bed, looking out the window. I am surprised to find him awake because Reyes said he is sedated. Red and I get closer to him, and from his scent, I know Titan is in control.

“Titan,” Red whispers.

He turns his head and looks at us, and I can see the pain and desperation in his eyes. “When the next Full Moon comes, I won’t run with other wolves under it. But saving your life was worth it!” he says in a broken tone.

Red’s bottom lip trembles. “If I would not have gone to the cabin—”

I move in front of her and take her face between my palms. “What happened today is not your fault! What happened to Jordan and Zeke is because of that bitch, and I promise I won’t stop until I find her and kill her!” Red nods, and I face Titan. “For saving my soulmate and baby, I am always in your debt. We started on the wrong foot, but you will always be welcomed in my pack.” I clench my teeth and shove my hands into my pockets. “I am sorry for—”

Titan snarls. “I don’t want your pity!” he growls. I see the rage in his eyes, and I know he is suffering. “Get out!” he shouts.

Red bits back a sob. “Titan!”

“I want to be alone! Get out!” Titan shouts again, and I put my hands in the air.

“We are leaving,” I assure him, hoping he will calm down.

The door opens, and Rae Ann enters and goes to Titan. “Who the hell are you?” he snarls at her.

Rae Ann doesn’t even blink as she goes to Titan, pulls out a syringe from her coat, and looks at him. “Your worst nightmare! Fight me, and I will punch you!” she says before grabbing his left arm and sedating him.

Titan stills, and he looks at Rae Ann as if she is Miss Universe. “What is your name?” he asks in a calmer tone. His face relaxes.

“Rae Ann,” she replies, and the corner of her lips goes up.

“Rae Ann,” Titan tastes the name on his tongue. “I am Titan! Don’t leave!” he tells her before closing his eyes.

Rae Ann looks at me. “I am afraid I have to ask you to let Titan rest.”

“I will talk to the therapist. Jordan and Titan will need all the psychological help they can get,” I say.

Rae Ann fixes her gaze on Titan. “I have some experience with disabled persons. I won’t mind helping him with recovery!”

“I am glad to have you in the pack!” I tell her before Red and I leave the room.

While I have experience with abused werewolves, I can’t say the same about disabled werewolves. There are not that many of them. Few things can leave a werewolf crippled for life.

Kevin is waiting for us next to the door with his arms folded and leaning against the wall. He blocks our path as soon as I close the door behind me. “How is Jordan?”

“He needs time to come to terms that he won’t walk anymore. Reyes needs to perform more tests on him, and I pray he can get better,” I reply honestly. Kevin opens his mouth, but I add, “I know you have more questions, but Red and I need to check our pack members. Everyone must be worried sick about Red!”

Kevin nods and lets us pass.

We stopped to check on Zeke, but he had already left the clinic. Knowing him, he will probably learn how to fight with his left hand.

Many pack members wait for Red and me close to the clinic, and I can see how relieved they are to see Red safe and sound. Some have questions about the Demon King and the attack, and Red answers them as best as she can. I can feel Red is hungry and tired, and when I try to lead her to the Pack House, she insists we do our duty as Alpha and Luna first. My priority is Red and Sky, but my soulmate is stubborn, and I end up doing as she asks. We have a meeting, and I inform everyone about the situation and the magic barrier around the village. I tell Tristan and Emma that they have to remain inside the pack and ask Blade to prepare rooms for them.

After the meeting, I take Red and Sky to the kitchen and make sandwiches; to my relief, Red nibbles on a few of them. I spend the rest of the day with Red and Sky and watch them draw together while I play the piano and think about the Emerald Realm.

Raven paces inside my head. **‘You know we are on the same page with almost everything, but I don’t agree with you this time.’** He stops for a moment. **‘After what happened today, I don’t think I can be away from Red and Sky without going crazy. Not to mention my sweet Safia.’**

My fingers move on the keyboard, and I play the song I composed for Red. She looks at me with eyes full of love. *‘I know,’* I reply to Raven. *‘Her Theta Knights* *and us will keep her safe from the Demon King.’*

**‘We have to send him back!’**

I finish the song. *‘We will!’*

During most dinners, my pack members laugh and talk about what happened during the day, but today they are mostly quiet, and the food sits on the plates, mostly untouched. I push Red to eat something before we take Sky to her room and get her ready for bed. Sky falls asleep quickly, and I drag Red to our room, anxious to finally have her all for myself.

I lock the door, trap Red between the door and me and kiss her until she is out of breath. “Next time you scare me like that, I am going to bend you over my knee and spank your little ass until it matches your hair color!” I threaten my soulmate.

Red breathes fast, and I can smell her arousal. “Promise?”

Fuck my dick!

**‘I think she enjoys being spanked a little too much!’** Raven growls.

I snort, bury my nose in the crook of her neck and hug her tight. “You do not know how Raven and I felt when we didn’t find you in our room.”

Red combs my hair with her fingers.”Hannah wanted to talk to me. I should have returned here after we spoke."

I lift my head and look at her. “Hannah? What did she want?”

Red shrugs. “To tell me Holgan is her soulmate and if she can remain here. I said she could, but I don’t want Ruth ever to come here.”

As soon as I hear the name Ruth, I growl. “She and Elder Adam will pay for what they did to us!” Red nods. I kiss her neck. “You did wonderful today as the Luna of the pack, but you must take care of yourself first. How about you shower while I get some of my clothes ready for you?”

“Do you want to shower with me?” Red asks.

I clench my teeth. “Not this time,” I reply, and Red nods. She knows I need time before I can be intimate with her again.

Ten minutes later, Red is wearing one of my T-shirts and pajama pants and falls asleep in my arms.

I am thinking about Jordan when someone knocks on the door. “A moment,” I say and rush to unlock the door. “Is something wrong?” I ask when I see Conon in front of my room. Katherine is with him.

Conon hands me his phone. “Elder Riad is looking for you. He said he tried to reach you on your number but couldn’t get a hold of you.”

When Sinn took Red and me from the hotel, I lost my phone, and I still hadn’t gotten a new one. I take the phone from Conon. “Elder Riad,” I say.

“Alpha Caleb! I am so glad to finally speak to you. Tatiana told me what happened in the pack. I am sending someone in the morning to take you and Luna Rain to the Werewolf Palace. You are not safe there,” Elder Riad informs me.

“I can’t leave my pack behind so I can hide together with my soulmate behind stone walls. My pack is my family! The Alpha of another pack got seriously injured today.”

Elder Riad thinks for a moment. “I am only allowed to have you and Luna Rain escorted, but I will think of a solution for the pack. As for the Alpha, I will have the best doctor examine him!”

“Make sure the doctor comes to the pack in the morning to check Alpha Jordan before we leave. And Elder Riad, my Luna has Theta Knights.”

Elder Riad is quiet for a moment. “How many?” he finally asks.
