**Conon**

My life before Caleb and the Black Ruby Rogue Pack was a struggle. My father and mother have been companions, and the day my father met his soulmate, he left my mother, my older sister, and me. I hated him for a long time because from the day he left, my mother and sister took all their pain and hatred on me. As if I was to blame for my father’s actions.

The night my mother and sister poisoned me with wolfbane and tied me to a tree was to punish me because I had spent the day with a female friend. They accused me of being like my father.

Caleb found me two days later; since then, I have been his Beta.

I have learned from my father’s mistake, and while I have flirted with females, I kept my dick in my pants. I always wanted to lose my virginity with my soulmate.

My arm snakes around Katherine’s waist, and while she walks stiffly, she doesn’t try to get away from me.

**‘We almost lost Kitty Kat because of you!’** Taos snaps at me. **‘I don’t understand how you are so good with computers but so bad with people!’**

I like the nickname Taos gave to our soulmate. *‘I had a meltdown for a minute!’*

Taos growls. **‘Good thing Caleb came to talk to you! Because if you had rejected Kitty Kat, I would have killed you!’**

*‘But I didn’t! As for Caleb, don’t worry; I will give him a gift on his mating day!’* I say, thinking of the surprise I have planned for Caleb.

I guide Kitty Kat to my room.

**‘Finally, we will have a family!’** Taos says.

I look at Kitty Kat’s frame. She is around 5’2, while I am 6’1. She is small compared to me, and I hope I won’t hurt her in bed. Before Kitty Kat, I never thought my lack of experience could be a problem. Fuck, I watched enough porn to know what a female likes in bed, but I am still nervous as shit. What if I do something she doesn’t like?

Taos snots. **‘First, we woo her, then we think about filling her with our seed! Besides, we will ask her what she wants in bed. Porn is just people acting! Or worse!’**

Can’t say Taos is wrong about porn. I should forget all about it.

When we reach my room, I open the door and let Kitty Kat enter. I am so glad I spent some time last night cleaning it. The bed is a mess, and I rush to fix it while Kitty Kat looks around. She goes to my computers and looks at them. A t-shirt with a stain of coffee is on the bed, and I throw it under it.

Kitty Kat turns on her heels. Fortunately, I am done with the bed and sit on it. “Why do you need three computers?”

I shrug. “I am good with numbers, and I make money online.”

Kitty Kat stands with her back to the computers, her eyes glued to the carpet. I can’t remember the last time I vacuumed it. I should probably take care of the room before Kitty Kat moves in.

“I see,” is all Kitty Kat says.

I pat my knee. “Come here, Kitty Kat!” I say to her, and her eyes snap up.

“What did you call me?” her brown eyes staring into my blue ones.

“Kitty Kat,” I repeat, while I pat my knee once more. “Come to me, soulmate.”

Kitty Kat folds her arms and arches an eyebrow. “I am not a dog! And my name is Katherine, not Kitty Kat!”

I sigh and go to her. My hands cup her cheeks. She stiffens for a moment before relaxing under my touch. “Stubborn female,” I say against her lips. I kiss her; her cream and strawberry taste become my brand of drug. “You agreed to come here to talk about us,” I say, looking into her eyes.

Kitty Kat averts my gaze. “I know, but I am not good enough to be your soulmate, Conon.”

I put a finger under her chin, forcing her to meet my gaze. “The Goddess gave you to me for a reason. You are my soulmate, Kitty Kat, and as soon as you say the word, I will take you to the Ritual Stones and mark you!”

I take her hand in mine and lead her to the bed. Kitty Kat sits across my lap, and I look at her. She is so beautiful, and she is mine. I wrap a strand of her dirty blond hair around my finger.

“Why would you want to bond yourself with someone that doesn’t have a wolf?” Kitty Kat asks.

I brush my lips against hers, wanting to taste her again. The more I kiss her, the bigger the need to taste her all the time grows. I know she doesn’t have a wolf; Taos hasn’t felt one we touched the first one. “I don’t care if you don’t have a wolf. Cookie and I will dedicate our lives to making you happy, Kitty Kat.”

She tilts her head to a side. “Your wolf’s name is Cookie?”

“Taos, but he is crazy about Tatiana’s home-baked sweets. Once, he stole her bag and ripped it so he could get the sweets Tatiana had inside. The witch was so mad that she threatened to transform Taos into a cookie,” I say, hoping to see Kitty Kat smile, but she only frowns. Her eyes seem sad.

**‘What if she is not happy being our soulmate?’** Taos asks, and I can feel his pain.

“Kitty Kat, you don’t want me as your soulmate?” I ask.

In the gym, she was very stubborn and insisted that she would reject me, but I managed to convince her to talk to me.

Kitty Kat looks at my lips, and I kiss her. She sighs. “How about I tell you a little about me, and if you still want me after then, I will accept you as my soulmate,” she says, and I nod. “I was born in the Vampire Palace. My parents met there and fell in love. My parents died when the Queen came to power, and the vampires made me into a slave. I had to do horrible things to survive, Conon. Since the day I became a slave, I had to whore myself for a place to sleep or a plate of food. I had to learn to torture, and by the time I was fourteen years old, I was one of the most feared slaves. I have given every part of me to the vampires. There’s nothing left for you, Conon. When we touched and felt you were my soulmate, I knew you would reject me. It hurt, but I had prepared for a long time for my soulmate not to want me.”

Anger like I never felt before rises inside me. Kitty Kat thinks I won’t want her because of what she had to do to survive. Something had to be done against the Crimson Queen and Sinn.

**‘Perhaps the Council of Elders will finally listen to Caleb after the mating ceremony and ask the help of the other Paranormal Communities to punish the vampires** **and to send the Queen and Sinn to the Prison,’** Taos says.

Caleb went to the Elders many times, telling them about what was happening in the Vampire Palace, but they didn’t listen to him. I hope that at the Annual Metting of Alphas and Lunas, Caleb will bring up again how dangerous the vampires are, not to mention all the crimes they committed against humans and all the Paranormal Communities.

“Kitty Kat,” I say gently, “I have no desire to reject you. My reaction was due to my past. You see, my mother and sister treated me terribly. I knew what you did to Caleb, and I was afraid you would treat me like my family did. So I ran instead of talking to you.”

“What makes you think I won’t torture you?” Kitty Kat asks in a serious tone, and I stop breathing.

“You would hurt your soulmate, Kitty Kat?” I ask and search her eyes. She shakes her head. “What you did to survive, Kitty Kat, is horrible. You did not whore yourself; you were a child, and you have been abused. And the vampires have brainwashed you into thinking the worst of yourself. You say you have nothing left for me, but I refuse to believe this, Kitty Kat. We will take things slowly; there’s no need to rush anything.”

Her eyes go wide. “You really want me?”

I cup her cheek and kiss her forehead. “I do, Kitty Kat.”

“Why do you keep calling me Kitty Kat?” she asks in a confused tone.

“Taos was the first to call you Kitty Kat,” I explain. I brush my lips against hers. “I didn’t ask him why the nickname, but I like it.”

“I like it too!” Kitty Kat confesses.

Taos wags his tail happily.

Kitty Kat presses her lips against mine and kisses me while her hands go to the zipper of my jeans. I get hard immediately.

I grab her hands and stop her.

“Kitty Kat,” I say and put her hands on my chest.

She bits her lip. “You don’t want sex with me?”

I put my arms around her, and she puts her head on my shoulder. “I do, Kitty Kat, but I already told you I don’t want to rush things. How about we lay in bed?” I ask, and she nods.

Moments later, we lay on the bed facing each other. I stroke her cheek with my thumb and marvel at how soft her skin feels. Kitty Kat is the first female to be in my bed; I always knew that my soulmate would be the only one in my arms and bed.

**'We would probably need a bigger room,’** Taos says.

My wolf is right; the room I have is for a single person. Caleb told me he plans to build a house for him and Rain; his room will be free after that.

“What are you thinking?” Kitty Kat asks.

My eyes fall on her lips. “That I can hardly wait for you to move with me and start our own family!”

Kitty Kat’s eyes shine with happiness. “I always wanted a big family!”

I narrow my eyes. “How big?”

“At least four pups! I love Sky, and taking care of her was the best thing that has happened to me!” Kitty Kat says excitedly.

**‘Do you remember Hotel Transylvania?’** Taos asks.

I try to think of all the movies I have seen. *‘Yeah. What about it?’*

Taos whines a little. **‘We are going to be like Wayne, the werewolf, full of pups.’**

*‘The more, the merrier!’* I reply.

It is the first time I see Kitty Kat excited to be with me. “Then I should probably build a house. I want to mark you as soon as possible, Kitty Kat.”

“Conon,” Kitty Kat protests.

“Listen, I waited for twenty-two years for you. And I want to brag in front of everyone that the most beautiful female is my soulmate!” I smirk. “Not to mention a Theta Knight!”

Kitty Kat licks her lips, and I watch the tip of her little tongue. I can’t help myself, and I kiss her. I love the feel of her lips against mine.

“Conon, I know that with my past, I don’t have any right to ask about former girlfriends you had in the pack, but I don’t want to deal with jealous exes. I won’t be very patient with them,” Kitty Kat admits.

I chuckle and kiss her cheek. “You don’t have to worry about that. I didn’t have any girlfriends.”

**‘So glad we waited!’** Taos says.

Kitty Kat looked into my eyes. “Fuck buddies?”

I laugh. “No, Kitty Kat. I haven’t been with any female because I wanted to wait for my soulmate. For you!”

A tear rolls down her cheek. “Conon, how can you want someone like me? There is nothing untouched by the vampires that I can give you!”

“Have they touched your heart, Kitty Kat?”

She nods. “They filled it with hate.”

“How about your soul?”

“I hid it so well even I can’t find it,” Kitty Kat confesses.

My lips almost touch hers. “Let me look for it, and once I find it is mine.”
