74. Rain

Rain

I don’t think I have ever been this angry in my life before. Hearing that the Rogue Village is destroyed makes my blood boil with rage. It wasn’t only a village but a home for so many werewolves. Caleb is as upset as I am, but he is trying to be strong for me. Goddess, I love this male with all my heart!

“We have to get everyone ready for the fight!” I say while snakes of fire swirl around me, and Elder Riad takes a few steps backward.

There is no way I am letting the Demon King destroy the Werewolf Palace. When Tatiana arrives, I will have to talk to her and see if we can open a portal without having to kill anyone in the process. Everyone is in danger as long as the Demon King is still in the Human Real.

“You are not going to fight!” Caleb growls so loudly my Theta Knights get their weapons ready to defend me.

Elton and Katherine move closer to Caleb and me, and I call my Fire back inside me.

I take Caleb’s face between my palms. “Listen to me, Caleb. My magic keeps our baby safe. And I am determined to fight! This is not negotiable! The Demon King took away our home from us, and we will destroy his army!”

Safia lets me know Caleb is narrowing his eyes and clenching his jaw. From his scent, I know he is unhappy with my decision. “Once his army is destroyed, we can concentrate on getting him back to his realm. As a bonus, we can send the Leech Queen with him!” I add.

I hear Raven snort in my head. **‘Imagine that—the Leech from Hell. How come she gets to have a happy ending with the Demon King? On another note, I don’t** **agree with you fighting.’**

I bite back a giggle. “I know Raven and you are worried about me getting hurt, but I am not crazy enough to get close to the prisoners. I can stay in a safe place and use my magic from there.” To my relief, Caleb nods his approval moments later.

“Your Theta Knights never leave your side, and you don’t put yourself in danger, no matter what! If I see one tiny scratch on you, I will spank your little ass!” Caleb says in a firm voice, and Elder Riad chokes on the air.

A scratch equals a spanking. Got it! I need to get at least a dozen.

Safia snorts, but I can hear how hard she wags her tail. *‘How about we add a bruise so Raven can spank you?’* I ask her, and Safia wags her tail so hard I can imagine the ground she’s sitting on vibrating.

I flutter my eyelashes at Caleb. “I will be as safe as I can be! No scratches!” As Safia crosses her front paws, I say, “Promise!” I turn on my heels before Caleb can see through my lie.

Katherine holds the scythe she chose as if she is about to send to Hades whoever dares to cross her path. “No one will get past me!”

I bite the inside of my cheeks because Katherine reminds me of Gandalf. Elton lifts his bow, “Or me!”

Legolas and Gandalf! I am only missing Gimli.

I turn my attention to Elder Riad. “I won’t claim I know war tactics, and I don’t know what preparations must be made before the prisoners arrive here, but I am willing to help in any way I can.”

Caleb grabs the back of my neck with his left hand and massages it. “Red!” his voice comes out as a warning.

This is definitely the only time I am pregnant. Caleb is so worried it is stressing me out! He acts like I have cancer and I am about to die at any moment.

His fingers work magic on my muscles, and I might start to purr if he keeps doing it. “Caleb, I am pregnant, not on my deathbed! You need to stop worrying about the baby and me all the time and get the Enforcers ready!”

Elder Riad clears his throat. “The fifth level of the basement is a safe room. We haven’t used it in a long time, and I am sure food and water are lacking. If you can take care of the safe room, Alpha Caleb and I will organize the Enforcers. And, Luna Rain? Be careful! We usually don’t allow pregnant females to fight, but since you have magic and Theta Knights, I am positive no harm will come to you!”

I nod, and the Elder tells me the password for the safe room.

“Elder Riad, you can wait for me outside the room. I need to have a word with my Luna,” Caleb says, and the Elder leaves while my Theta Knights get busy with the weapons.

Caleb drags me to a far corner. Then he kisses me roughly while trapping me against a wall with his body. “Be careful, my Fire Luna! If something happens to you—!” He kisses me again before pressing his forehead to mine and breathing hard. “Wherever you go, I follow!”

“I guess you stopped wanting to send Sky and me to the Emerald Realm?”

“Raven refuses to let you go, and I must say, I agree with him. We would go crazy without our daughter and you!” Caleb replies.

I feel relieved to hear Caleb gave up on his stupid idea of sending Sky and me away. “Return to me in one piece!” I ask of him before we rush to prepare for the battle.

It is the first time I am going to fight, and I am so scared my knees tremble. However, as the Luna of my pack, it is my duty to protect the young and the old, the sick and the healthy. I know Caleb never says it, but because of my blood, the portal has been opened, and the Demon King started his campaign to conquer the world. Of course, he has to kill me first to make sure no one sends him back, but I will fight with all I’ve got to make the world safe.

My Theta Knights and I leave the Chamber of Luna Supreme, find the elevator, and go down to the last floor. After I open the safe room with the help of Elton and Katherine, I check the water and food supply. Before we leave, we look around to see if there are blankets, pillows, toys, games, and other things. I make a mental note of the items needed, and we go to the kitchen. Blade and the Royal chef are preparing some snacks, and I ask them for their help. We hurry to get the safe room ready and all those that can’t fight inside.

I kiss Sky’s forehead and hug Viki and Sarah and ask them to keep my daughter safe for me before I go to the suite assigned to Caleb and me. Once inside, I take a moment to breathe and braid my hair in a coronet, not wanting to be grabbed by it during the fight. Put on clothes that allow me to move freely and get out. My Theta Knights are waiting for me in front of the door.

“Ready to kill those that destroyed our home?” I ask.

“Let’s get this party started!” Katherine says, and we go outside.

Enforcers are positioned all around the Palace. I try to spot Caleb, but many males are tall and have black hair. My eyes are still searching for my other half when the alarm sounds, and I know the prisoners have arrived. They are not alone; humans controlled by the Demon King, and black witches are with them. As my Fire rises to the surface, I’m expecting the Demon King to be with his army, but he’s not here.

Black spells spread around like wildfire hurting Enforcers. Prisoners of all races: werewolves, werebears, werecats, fallen angels, dragon shifters, vampires, etc., and the humans attack the Enforcers in a blink of an eye. The Enforcers fight back, some shifting, others with weapons. Icicles fly across the battlefield, wounding or killing enemies.

Knowing that Caleb is well and fighting, I turn my attention to the black witches. My heart hammers in my chest, but I push my fear aside as I command my magic to turn into fire snakes, sending them in the black witches’ direction. If my Theta Knight and I can take out the black witches, the Enforcer and Caleb can finish off the prisoners without the risk of being wounded or killed by black magic.

The fire snakes reach part of the black witches and wrap around them fast, burning them. As the one who eluded my magic threw gas bombs in my direction, I recognized it immediately—the same that was used on Caleb and me.

I cover my nose with my arm and get away from it. “Don’t inhale the gas!” I say to my Theta Knights.

We get away from the toxic vapors, but to my frustration, more gas bombs are thrown at us. Even the Enforcers are not spared of the gas. Some inhale it, and the prisoners take advantage of their moment of weakness and kill them. While the snow turns red, the battle continues as the enemy steps over the bodies of the dead and advances.

A strong winter wind sweeps the battlefields, and the gas is dispersed.

Black magic comes in my direction, and Elton gets his bow ready and releases arrows. I gasp when spells get destroyed by the arrows. “Cool!” says Elton and releases more arrows while Katherine uses the scythe to destroy what is left of the black magic.

Suddenly, dragon shifters and fallen Angels come running at us with fangs and twisted magic ready to rip us apart. A dragon shifter flicks his wrist in my direction, and something grazes my cheek. A cold sweat runs down my spine as I feel poison made from wolfbane entering my blood system, and pain I have never felt before robs me of my breath.

Elton releases more arrows—the quiver that comes with the bow has an endless supply of arrows—taking out a dragon shifter and two fallen Angels while Katherine kills the others.

I fall to my knees and cough. The snow in front of me turns scarlet. I feel as if I am stabbed by thousands of knives over and over again. My magic wraps tight around the baby, keeping him safe from the poison.

“Rain!” someone says my name and I recognize Kevin’s voice. He lifts me in his arms. “What’s wrong? Did a black spell hit you?”

Does he sound panicked, or is it me panicking?

“Po-Po-poison,” I say; my throat feels like I have a cactus stuck in it.

Kevin mutters something under his breath while Elton and Katherine keep fighting. “Hang in there! I will get you to the infirmary!”

He starts running while my heart accelerates, and I feel as if I can’t breathe. A portal opens in front of us, and Kevin stops in his tracks. When I think we are doomed and wish, I could see Caleb for one last time, Nature and Light witches appear from it, joining the fight. Tatiana and a woman with long blond hair are the last to come out of the portal.

“Thank the Gods! We made it in time!” Tatiana says.

The woman with blond hair takes my hand into hers, and the pain fades away, the poison disappearing from my body. “Hello, Rain!” she says once she heals me.

I recognize her voice. “You are the woman from my dreams!”
