Chapter 11

I know I can't live without you, Harris. But how can I live if you already have a partner? After entering her room, Elijah placed her clothes in her bag one by one. Harris had left her money, which she accepted. She smiled bitterly when she saw the 600 dollars. This sum will be put to good use. She, on the other hand, had no plans to leave their home. Dedicated to her father. She was certain he would accept her, forgive her, and eventually marry the man he wished to marry.
However, it is entirely up to you. Walking away is exhausting, as is fighting for one's life, especially when she has no reason to.

Elijah looked around the large yard visible between the houses. As she exited the taxi she had boarded in front of their large gate, Elijah surveyed the large yard visible between the bars.

I'm back, Dad. Your errant daughter. She gave a bitter smile. She  noticed an elderly woman, his nanny, running towards her from a distance.
"Elijah! Why did you think of running away?"
As she hugged her, the woman sobbed.

"Is Daddy mad at me, Nanny?" she asked, crying.

"What's the matter? Your father is sick because she loves you so much and worried of you!"

Elijah blamed herself for what had happened while she was away. The management of the businesses has almost been neglected by the trustee.
"That's when the man you're scheduled to marry came here, your dad himself said that he had canceled their agreement. He said he can't forgive himself when something bad happens to you." nanny said.
Elijah's pace quickened. He wanted to see the father.
"All right, go inside. Your dad must be lying down," the old woman said as they stood in front of the door of her Dad's room.

Elijah eagerly opened the door. Her father's emaciated appearance was exposed to her. She could no longer trace his former elegant appearance to it.
"Daddy!" The voice growled as she called to her father who was blindfolded.
Slowly the old man's eyes opened. Such was the joy in his eyes when he saw the despised child.
"Elijah!"

Tears streamed down her cheeks almost immediately. The joy her father felt when he saw her was unrivalled.
"I'm sorry for being stubborn, Dad; it's my fault you're acting like that; look at you, you're so skinny," she sobbed as she hugged him tightly.
"No, Elijah. It's my fault. I shouldn't have covered your freedom. Please forgive me."

"I love you, Daddy. Promise. I will never leave you again. If you want me to marry that man, I will."
"No, he's gone. We talked, and he was released after we talked with his father; it doesn't matter; what matters is that you're back, sweetheart."
Daddy and I were both in tears as we hugged. They have recently reconciled with her father. He recovered quickly from his illness now that he was back with her.

"You're graduating; keep going; it's our business."
"Wow," she said softly to her father.

"By the way, your friend passed by earlier and said she'd return later to take you for a walk in the city; you don't leave the house."

"Really, she's returned?"

"I'm glad you probably returned home."

"Yes, I have a new friend."

Her father just laughed at her enthusiasm. It feels like their relationship is back to normal. But if her father only knew, with each passing night, Elijah's lust was always in tears. She could forget the ugly experience with Mr. Lorenzo but not the love she has for Harris. But in her desire not to let her father notice the weight of the will she accepted her friend's invitations.
"Elijah! Kara! How are you two?" Liza, their former high school classmate.
"Hey, Liza. It's you. What are you doing here?" Elijah asked, also excited to see the former classmate.
"I would have bought a bathing suit. Nico and I have a swimming pool. Remember him? Your former admirer?"
"Of course. How can I forget him, it was almost suicidal to court with me then. How is he now?" Elijah asked.
"There, he's still a single man. He'll definitely be happy when he finds out we met here. All he knows is that you're not here."
"Kara and I just arrived."
"Really? Where have you been?"
"Abroad. On vacation." She and Kara both laugh.

"You're still fine, I even thought of taking a vacation. Wait, if you can come with us so that swimming can be fun." Liza cheers on two friends .
"Oh, what, two of you can join us?"
"Nice. All right, Elijah, we're together. To make our surroundings different." Kara agrees.
At the urging of two friends, Elijah was also persuaded by them.
Disappointed, Nico's car picked them up. He is one of the able -bodied families in their neighboring barangay. And just like Liza said, the man was very happy to see her. It shows her extra attention. And because they have former classmates with them, the group is happy. Elijah feels as if she has returned to her youth. The group occupied a cottage at the resort.
"Elijah, look at Nico, he seems to be revived by hope." teases of one of their companions.
"Gosh, you really, your guy just seems happy that the group is together again, you immediately give it meaning." She was hard on friends.
"You can answer that man when he court you again. That's a good catch. It's a pity when you let go." Liza will said, which Kara also agrees to.
"Take care of your life!" she laughed as she turned her back on her comrades who were still taking a bath.
There was a strange excitement in Nico's eyes when he saw that she was coming out of the cottage. He immediately greeted her with a smile.
"Where are they?" he asked, who he thought didn't want to take his eyes off her face.
"Still getting dressed. They are so slowly , so I left." She also smiled in response.
"Come on, let's go first. It's nice to swim in the water. It's still warm."
I wish I could tell you something.Elijah thought his appearance was a little sad.

"Why don't you tell me yet?" Elijah more or less knew what it was going to say.
Because she didn't want to give him another chance to recite the love she had been pouring before. She wasn't ready to open her wounded heart again.
"All right, let's just talk here. How about going to another country? Your Dad said you're going to look for a job there. Why? You still want to work even your wealthy?"
Elijah frowned slightly. Why is it that she is avoiding what she wants to say in the future. Because she knows that it is not intentional to mention her life in another country.
"I didn't look for a job there, it was just like a vacation. You know, it's boring," she avoided answering.
"Why all of a sudden? You just stopped studying."
"It's my choice!"
He expressed annoyance.
"I'm sorry, I think I'm asking too much."
Nico noticed the change in the tone of her voice.
