Chapter 24

The conversation between her and Michaela about bathing in the stream did not go ahead because her father called Harris to take them home because he had something important to discuss. So she's quiet now, with Harris in the front seat. To this day, she is still upset because of her father's treatment in the hospital, so she does not want to see him. Only Harris can go and the two of them will talk to dad and she will just leave Michaela and Maico there.

"We can come back here, sweetheart. So stop frowning there, you look ugly." Harris joked.
But she didn't smile. She just leaned on the front seat and fell asleep. Harris noticed that Elijah didn't want to talk to him because they went home immediately. After all, she had plans to bathe in the stream with Michaela. But they can come back here. But no matter what he talks about here, s he's not in the mood so he just lets it go. After a few hours of their travel, they finally reached his daddy's house. But Elijah still closed her eyes and didn't move. Maybe she fell asleep. So he approached her and removed the seat belt and whispered.
"Wake up, sweetheart. We're here at your daddy's house," he says.
Elijah woke up and got out of the car first so Harris could do nothing but follow. When he entered, Elijah was already in the living room while facing his father and Camille. Lucy and nanny Mathilde are already there. Elijah didn't smile even though her father was all smiles, obviously happy.
"Why did you call? I'm not your daughter anymore?" Elijah said with a frown.
"I'm sorry, dear. Your father is just too in love so I hope you'll forgive me." said the father.
"We're on vacation. And suddenly you call. What are we going to talk about?" asked Elijah.
"Camille and I are planning to get married," Dad said.
Elijah wasn't surprised by her father's announcement. Where will two people who love each other go? So they get married, live life to the fullest, and promise to love each other and grow old together. She doesn't want to interfere with their love anymore.
"I'm fine with it. Camille and I already talked and I've accepted her as your wife." Elijah said without a smile. It's not that she's not happy, but she's not in the mood because her vacation was interrupted. They are just getting married, they can call them.
"Do you have anything else to tell us, dad? And about Camille's pregnancy that you are the father of the baby, I already know so you don't need to tell us," she says.
Nanny Mathilde was surprised at what she said. Even her daddy while looking at Camille was surprised. She and Harris looked at each other, who were clueless about what was happening. Camille looked at her while smiling. Turns out she hasn't told dad about the baby yet.
"What? How did that happen? I can't even remember that we slept in one room before." his father asked cluelessly.
Elijah laughed because her daddy's reaction was priceless.
"Let's talk later. Why don't I tell them in front of them how we did it?" Camille answered while holding her stomach.
An hour later, Elijah told her father that they were going home and they took Lucy home with them. When they arrived at the house, Elijah saw a white car parked outside their gate.
"Whose car is that? Are you expecting a visitor?" he asked.
"Nothing."
Lucy went out first to open the gate. The door of the white car opened and a man got out. Elijah was frowning because it turns out Andrew is Lucy's classmate. She saw Lucy frown when Andrew approached her.
"Look at Lucy, it's like she doesn't want to see Andrew anymore, it's like she's allergic to men. Why is she here?" she asked Harris.
Her husband is laughing.
"What is the real reason why the man is following? Of course, he bet Lucy. Isn't it obvious?"
"Didn't he also realize that Lucy doesn't like him? You know she's focused on studying," she answered.
"Maybe Andrew thinks that maybe he can get in and Lucy might make him a priority too."
Elijah also got out of the car. Andrew smiled at him when he saw it.
"Good day. Go inside first and eat some snacks." Elijah said.
"Not anymore. I was just here to invite Lucy to my cousin's birthday party. But she said she won't go. I'm leaving." Andrew said and got into the car and drove away from their house.
When she went inside she saw Lucy wearing an apron heading to the kitchen so she followed her. She will also drink water. She took cold water from the fridge and drank it. She saw that Lucy was going to cook. Doesn't this girl get tired? She is not a very strict boss. She doesn't like to give orders.
"You can sleep first, Lucy. Maybe you can cook later," she says.
"I'm hungry, Ma'am," Lucy answered while smiling.
"I see. Didn't nanny Mathilde feed you?" she asked.
"We're eating, but my intestines have the strength to digest," Lucy answered.
"Yes. But you're not gaining weight."
"I was wondering where I put the food I ate, " Lucy said laughing.
"By the way, Andrew has gone home. What does he need from you?"
"He's going to take me to his cousin's birthday party, but I don't like to party and I don't want to have enemies at the university. They're still the woman I mentioned to you last time. And I think that woman is too much of a war freak." said Lucy.
"Maybe their cousin or friend," Elijah said.
"No, they are a couple. It's like a fling. That's what the students there say. They're famous at the university. Rich people are always the talk of the day. I don't want to get involved with Andrew and my name being dragged into the controversy." said Lucy.
"Okay. You said so."
"He was so persistent. Even in university he always followed me. He brought me snacks and food but I didn't accept it because I didn't want an issue."
"Better to stay away," Elijah said.
"That's right. I didn't come here to the city to flirt, Ma'am. I want to finish school and become a doctor."
"Good to hear that."
The next day, Elijah woke up early but she only slept so that Harris would wake up before her. Maybe he will go to work now. She noticed that he got up from the bed and entered the bathroom. An hour later, she saw that he was dressed in an office uniform and came out of the room. She got up slowly and went to the bathroom to take a shower. She got dressed and left the room. She immediately entered the kitchen. And she saw Lucy washing the dishes.
"Did your sir eat breakfast?" she asked.
"Yes ma'am."
"You don't have work school today?"
"There is."
"That's why you've already taken a shower," answered Elijah.
"Why do I hear someone honking outside?"
"It's like nothing."
Then she saw that Lucy's mood changed.
"Good morning, ma'am," Andrew said then came in front of her.
"Did you come here so early in the morning, Andrew?"
"Yeah. I'll pick Lucy up so we can go to school together. I know this time she can't say no because she needs to go and no more excuses." said Andrew.
Lucy raised her eyebrows.
"Aren't you tired? You act like my boyfriend. We don't even know each other." said Lucy.
Andrew took a chair and sat down.
"May I have something to eat, ma'am?"
"Sure. Lucy cooked all that."
"Really? Delicious."
"Do you like going into someone's house without warning?" asked Lucy.
"Sir Harris let me in. Because when I arrived he was just leaving the gate." Andrew replied with a smile.
Lucy did nothing but take a chair and sit next to her. She also started to eat maybe she will be late. A few minutes later the three of them were outside. Let her deliver by Andrew and drop it off near the company. She got into Andrew's car with Lucy next to her. Andrew seemed to be their driver, frowning at the front. Because Lucy doesn't want to ride in the front seat. She got off near the company and walked into the building. She saw Mrs. Acosta who had just entered her office.
"Good morning, ma'am. I'm sorry because I left the other day without saying goodbye. Daddy was in the hospital." she says.
"It's okay."
She approached her table and sit down.
He was suddenly thirsty so he said goodbye for a while to go out to buy something to drink. He smiled at the guard as he passed him. He saw two female employees walking.
"I heard Beatrice is pregnant and do you know who she claims to be a father is Sir Harris Blake." said the girl with short hair.
"As far as I know that Mr. Blake is married, right?"
Elijah's eyes widened when she heard the girls talking. She didn't want to believe them, if what she heard was true, she was sure she would die. But Harris loves her too much to hurt and deceive her. She suddenly lost herself. She just went back inside the building without the drink she wanted. The thirst she felt suddenly disappeared. She was nervous and worried that the conversation gave her concerns. She entered the office feeling weak. Good thing Mrs. Acosta is too engrossed in what she was doing so she didn't notice her. She wants to go to Harris's office and confront him and ask him what the truth is.
