Chapter 12
"I'm sorry, but my head hurts."
She also felt slightly guilty for complaining to the man. He was well aware that the question was meaningless. Nico lost his cool.
"It's their time! Come on, let's go first!" She dragged Nico out of the sit with her.
At the very least, he could recover from his apathy toward her. Nico regained his cool. It rose quickly and followed her into the sea. He was in the last few hours.
"Enjoy it? It's just you, and if you're already answering Nico, I hope your life is more colorful there," Kara teases.
"I don't want to! I won't answer to a man just to make my life more colorful; if I'm going to have a relationship, it has to be with someone I love."
She was taken aback by what she had just said. Her heart pounded with sharp pain. Wasn't she doing it before? But what happened when she used her heart? Wasn't she hurt?
"Elijah, this is for you."
Nico called from behind. He was carrying two grilling sticks.
"Me, nothing?" Kara pretended to be upset.
"Wow, no! It's a stick for you,"
"Hush! You're still pretending! That's mine!" Kara said as she grabbed a stick.
Elijah was content until Nico delivered them. He had forgotten if you watched him from a distance. That night, however, Elijah cherished the sweet memories she shared with Harris. Her father's silence, when she awoke the next day, was remarkable.
"Dad, are you still sick?" she inquired over breakfast.
"Nothing, sweetheart; I'm just thinking." avoidance of its response
Despite her reservations, Elijah remained silent.
Nico has been coming to them for the past few days. Sometimes he went with a friend, but most of the time he went alone. He kept courting her.
"Until now, I still can't pass your heart?" Nico asked one weekday.
"I'm sorry, Nico, but the heart isn't pushed."
Nico bowed his head once more, saying goodbye. But do not give up mentally. Her heart sank as she watched Nico walk away. She couldn't even ignore the intense longing she was experiencing right now, no matter how hard she tried.
"Elijah, aren't you really in love with those who court with you?" her father asked.
"Why do you want me to marry, Daddy?" she inquired softly.
"Please don't think I want to cover your feelings again; I won't; I just want you to be happy," he says.
"Don't worry, Papa; I'm fine," she says.
In my unique way. As I continue to reflect on Harris and my past.
Her father gave her a friendly smile.
"Thank you. By the way, my comrade's son just called from another country and said he would come here to the city again and take care of important things. He said he would come here."
"Let it go; maybe we'll be in a time when he returns."
"I'm hoping so."
When Elijah returned home from jogging in the plaza that day, her father informed her that his comrade's son had just left.
"He said he'll be back here tonight for dinner; is it okay with you if you join him?"
"Yeah. But I'll be back in town. Kara and I will meet because she'll join me to inquire about the school I'm going to."
"All right, we'll just wait for you."
"Wow."
Elijah changed his clothes and went to see a friend at their Mall meeting. Elijah walked a short distance to the tricycle parking lot because she wasn't used to carrying her father's gift car.
Why does that man keep returning? Her father stated that the man had also decided to end our marriage. He might have suddenly realized that our marriage should be preserved. Please, no. I can't say no to Daddy any longer. She stopped when she felt as if she was being watched. She abruptly turned around. There was no one there. She noticed a parked car in the distance.
Is that the driver looking at me? She stopped walking for a moment and stared at the vehicle. I was just imagining maybe that. She continued walking. She was already far away from them when a gray car suddenly blocked her path.
"Ay!" She almost lost her balance from the shock.
The glass was tinted so she couldn't see the person inside. Suddenly the window opened.
"Hop in, Elijah."
"Huh?"
Needless to say, her chest seemed to shake with nervousness. The man sitting in the driver's seat was wearing colored glasses, his face was dark and he had a smile on his lips but he still knew that face very well.
"Harris?"
"I said hop in, Elijah. Let's talk!" his voice was hostile and loud.
"No!" She turned slightly back to him.
But Harris quickly got out of the car.
"Elijah!"
Then he grabbed Elijah by the arm.
"Harris, what are you doing here?"
She tries to pull the arm. Harris sighed.
"I'm following you."
His eyes were dim as he stared at her. The voice was no longer angry and even seemed to be pleading.
"No! Don't bother me anymore! I want to be quiet. Leave me alone!"
She wanted to get out of his grip, but apparently, he had no intention of getting away again.
"Let's talk. Come on, we're going somewhere." once dragging her.
People were looking at them. And she didn't want them to create a commotion because of the strength of their conversation. She chose to remain silent.
"So let's go?"
Elijah nodded softly.
Harris guided her to the parking lot of his car. As the car drove along the road, the two were in no hurry. But she noticed that they were moving away from that place.
"Where are we going? I thought you were picking me up to take me home. You have to turn around to get to us."
He didn't move, he just kept his eyes focused on its path.
"What are you? You look dumb!" She's worried about it.
"Shut up first, Elijah. I'm thinking."
"I'm not going with you! Take me down and my Dad will surely find me!"
There was no response from Harris. Elijah just sat up.
Harris's car entered a spacious solar.
"What are we going to do here?" she asked.
"I live here when I'm in your area." It pointed to a two-story house made of stone and brick.
"Why did you bring me here? Don't say you're going to introduce me to your wife?" Elijah asked sarcastically.
Harris laughed out loud at what he said.
"And what did you laugh at there?" he annoyed Harris with a sharp slap.
"Common, let's get inside."
It guided him inside. Elijah quickly withdrew his arm and went inside first.
"My grandmother inherited it from my grandmother. I renovated it so that the occupants don't look old."
Elijah pretended to ignore Harris's joke, though she secretly smiled. She was already feeling a strong tremor in her chest.
"Take me home, Harris. Maybe your wife will come down here and suddenly tweak me."
Harris laughed heartily.
"What are you laughing at?"
"My wife isn't here."
"Ah, is that so? And since your wife isn't here, you can bring a woman here?"
"Eli ..."
"Can you, take me home? When my disappearance reaches my Dad, it will surely worry him. We have neighbors who have seen before that you are forcing me to get in the car. Maybe that panic will call the police."
