Chapter 16

Lucy was dragged into the wig section by her.
"What are we going to do here, ma'am?"
"Please assist me in finding a nice wig for myself."

"What for? Your hair is nice. Why do you have to do that?" Lucy asked.

"Because I've got a plan," she explained.

"Plan?"

"I had a hint that my husband is with another woman, so I'll follow him with that wig."

"Fooling? But why is that? "

"You have a lot of questions for Lucy. You make the decision."

"Because, ma'am, you're so lovely and kind, why does he have to cheat?" Lucy asked.
"I have no evidence that he cheats Lucy, I just want to be sure, so if you want to stay home for a long time, just shut up," Elijah threatens.
"Yes."

Elijah chuckles.

"We have to keep quiet because if Harris finds out, both of us will be kicked out."

Lucy finally found a wig for herself a few minutes later. This is an extremely long blonde wig. She wants to wear it to work this lunch, and she's going to Harris' office to apply for a job. Perhaps not everyone on the team knew who she was. She also bought Lucy new clothes and some body lotion. They were outside the gate a few hours later. They simply purchased snacks to eat at home. They are now in the house's living room. While consuming pizza and soft drinks.
"It's great that you're here, Lucy, because I'll have someone to eat with here in the living room," she says.

"Yeah, I used to call Aunt Mathilde, but she doesn't pay attention to me anymore, even after a few years," Lucy replied, smiling.
"She hasn't mentioned anything about you to me, so I'm not sure."
Lucy gave a nod.

"What are your next plans, ma'am?" Lucy asked.

"I'm going to wear that wig today because I have a walk somewhere," she said.

"May I join you?"

"No, you're just here at home, and you shouldn't be afraid because this place is safe."

"That's fine."

She now wears a simple dress and appears to be looking for work.

Her bag was a simple sling bag. She had missed doing this. Harris didn't even allow her to explore.
"Just close the gate, Lucy. You have a cellphone; call me if you need anything."
"That's all right, ma'am."

She had previously given Lucy an extra phone. For someone to use it to contact her if she is in need. She will no longer be driving. Because she does not trace right away.

She walks through the subdivision until she comes to the gate. As a result, the guard smiled at her. Perhaps he is wondering why she looks like that, but he remains silent. She flagged down a taxi, and as it approached her, it stopped in front of her, and she enter.

She worked for the company.
She discovered that Harris company is currently hiring. She was outside the building a few minutes later. She continued walking while smiling at the guard. She approached a woman working at the first-floor front desk.

"Good afternoon; are you still looking for a new employee?" she asked.
"Yes, ma'am. There are plenty more slots," the woman replied.
"Oh, thank you; where is the interview room?"

"Just here on the first floor, ma'am. There's a table outside on the left with a sign written on it."

"I appreciate it."

Elijah was walking to the left when she noticed a table with an empty chair. She approached the closed door and knocked. She saw a smiling woman when it opened.

"What can I do for you, ma'am?"

"I'm here for an interview for a job," Elijah explained.

"Of course, come in first."

"Okay."

Elijah adjusted her wig and spectacles. She slapped her forehead when she realized she didn't have credentials. But it's up to her to see if she can make it.

She was sitting across from a terror interviewer. Her brows were raised as she looked at her.

"What brings you here?"
"I'm looking for work," she explained.
"I see. Can I see your credentials?" a woman asked once more.

"I left it at home; I'm just here to inquire about the possible job you have; and don't tell me I'm wasting my time because I know it's not wrong to ask first," Elijah replied.

The woman in front of her was deafeningly quiet. She never expected to meet someone who, at first, raised an eyebrow at her and looked her over from head to toe. What would she look like if she found out she was married to their boss? But wait, the voice of this shallow woman is familiar to Elijah.

She couldn't be mistaken about his voice.
She couldn't be wrong because her call was answered. However, because there are so many identical human voices in the world, it is impossible.

"Wrong move, Miss. You need a job, don't you?" said the woman again.

Elijah's brow furrowed. This woman has a bad habit. I'll fire her if I can't stand her.

"Enough, Miss Roche; I'm just passing through; return to your office."
"Yes, ma'am."
The woman walked away, giving her an evil look. The 40-year-old woman took command and confronted her. She smiled at her and looked at her intently as if probing her soul.

"I'll recognize you even if your clothes are ripped," the woman said to me.

"Huh?"

"Did your husband know about these things?" she asked.

"Please excuse me?"

The lady laughs. They were fortunate to be the only two left inside the office. Elijah was aware that she was dressed differently, but this woman recognized her. Did she attend their wedding?

"I already knew you when you came in; do you have a reason for doing this? Do you have to disguise yourself? Did something happen?"

"I'm sorry, ma'am," Elijah said, "this is a childish act."

"I understand you. When you were my age, I had this kind of work when my husband went home late. I'd do anything to follow him. The impact of a man's handsomeness on beautiful women is different. I understand you because I see myself in you. I'm just unlucky because it didn't take long for my husband and me to be together. After all, we separate," the woman smiled.

"I apologize."

"It's okay. You can work here without credentials, but don't tell your husband because I love my job," the woman laughed.

"All right, thank you."

Harris is irritated because he tried to call his wife earlier, but her phone was turned off. Is she angry because he came home in the morning instead of just making a phone call? And did it just react quietly? Perhaps not. She also doesn't call him to say hello, which she usually does. What are they doing now that Lucy is at home? He asks his father but she does not respond.

When he called, Daddy answered right away.

"Hello, Harris. I guess you just called me now, and I'm about to get angry with you," the other line says.

"I'm sorry, Dad. I'm too busy at the office with piles of work. Did Elijah go there?" he asked.

"Why? Is the two of you fighting?"

"No, but her nanny's niece was here earlier," Harris explained.

"Yes," it says, "because Mathilde doesn't want her to get tired of cleaning the house, and because she wants you two to have children."

Harris remained silent. He felt bad because he didn't even ask Elijah if he wanted a roommate while he was at work. He certainly has many flaws with his wife.

"Perhaps he wants to manage your company," he speculates.
"She hasn't mentioned anything to me yet; perhaps she will tell you as well."
