Chapter 29
"I'll come in tomorrow, Aunt Letty," Elijah said.
"I thought it was embarrassing. The wife of the owner of this company is under me," said Aunt Letty.
"No problem, Aunt. You've been here for a long time in the company so you know things. If I didn't doubt my husband, I wouldn't be here." Elijah answered with a laugh.
"All right."
Harris is restless in his swivel chair because Elijah hasn't returned yet, Maybe she'll think about running away and leaving him again. It's good that Andre came out, maybe he'll laugh at him again.
Just then his phone rang. He answered it because it was Elijah who called.
"Hi, sweetheart," she said on the other line.
"Where are you? Why didn't you come back here?" he asked.
Elijah was laughing on the other line.
"Why do I feel fear in your voice?"
"Of course. It hurts to be left again," replied Harris.
"I love you too much to leave," Elijah said.
Harris smiled.
"I love you."
"I love you too. I'm just here outside the company waiting for you." Elijah said.
"Okay. I'm going out."
Elijah wanted to roll over with joy because of Harris. He thought she had left again. Her phone rang again. And her daddy called.
"Hello, dad. Why?" she asked.
"Where are you, dear?"
"It's in Harris's company. Why?"
"Come here to the house and bring Harris with you." answered his daddy.
And Elijah noticed that her father's voice was tense.
"Is there something wrong?" she asked.
"Nothing."
Elijah knew that his daddy had a problem again.
"Okay. We'll go."
"Great. Take care."
"You too."
Elijah hung up and then Harris came.
"Who are you talking to on the phone?"
"Daddy. He said that we go to in his house," answered Elijah.
"Why? Does he have a problem?"
"I'm not sure, but it appears that there is."
They climbed into the car.
"Did you ask Mrs. Acosta?"
"Next time because she has somewhere else to go."
"Okay."
Harris started the engine. They eventually arrived at her father's house. Elijah was the first to enter the house. She noticed her father, who was upset and walking back and forth in the living room.
"Daddy, are you all right?" she asked.
"Camille was taken by her parents by force. I can't do anything because they will sue me." answered her daddy in a sad voice.
"What did Camille say?" he asked.
"She's can't do anything. She's just crying. Help me get Camille back. I wonder what they've done to our baby. I can't forgive myself if they hurt Camille without me doing anything to get her there." her daddy pleaded.
"Relax, Daddy. Maybe something else will happen to you," she says.
When Harris returned with a glass of water, he went straight to the kitchen and handed it to his father.
"Sit down, let's talk calmly, and we'll figure out what we can do," Harris said.
Her father leaned back on the couch and sighed.
"I'm really confused about what I should do; I'm calling Camille, but I can't reach her; perhaps they took her phone," her father explained.
"Should we go to her right now? I'll get the car ready," Harris asked.
"It's possible. Maybe if I make it longer, they'll brainwash Camille. Why doesn't she want to go with me anymore?" said his father.
Elijah was both sad and angry. Camille's life is lacking peacefulness. Why are there such parents? Camille is on the verge of giving birth. Her father would be upset if he couldn't see his child.
"Let's go," her father said, leading the way out.
Harris and she exchanged glances and shook their heads.
"Our problem isn't over," Harris said, walking out first. Elijah followed and got into the car as well. They were on their way to Camille's house in a matter of minutes.
They were not allowed to enter the gate when they arrived because the guard said his boss had told him not to let them in if they came. His father became enraged.
"I can triple whatever they paid you, so let us in and talk about something important to them," her father said.
"You may proceed."
So the three of them entered, followed by the guard.
"When they entered the front door, they immediately heard the sharp voice of Camille's father.
"Didn't I tell you not to let them in? You didn't listen!" it said.
"Patience, sir. They insisted on entering because they needed something important from you." answered the guard.
"Get the hell out!"
"Where is Camille?" her father asked.
"You are still a businessman. I can sue you. Aren't you afraid that the case I filed against you will be doubled?" Camille's father asked.
"I don't care how many things you accuse me of; what matters to me is seeing Camille," her father replied.
Camille's father burst out laughing.
"As you get older, it's as if you lose your brain; you beat someone like your own child and didn't realize it was like beating your child," the old man explained.
"Excuse me? Don't insult my father like that because he is more sensible than you," Elijah said. "You abandon Camille, why did you suddenly take her from us when her life was fine with us?"
She became enraged at what the old man said to her father.
"You have no right to question me as his father; we are the parents, and we know what is best for her," the old man replied.
Elijah burst out laughing.
"Really?" Elijah smirked. "No good parent would throw their child out and put up with it for a few months and not be found working in a bar even though the belly is big enough to make money. Where do you find a sane parent with that mindset, sir?"
Camille's father stopped speaking.
"The child is punished when the parent disobeys because their life will be better if there is no rebellion. Perhaps your parents simply let you go and you became rude. It's too obvious," the old man explained.
"Of course," Elijah replied, "because it is the parent who needs the child, not the child who needs the parent; and no matter how bad the child's sin is, the parent does not need to punish them."
"Leave before I become enraged," he said.
So his father was the first to come out, which surprised Elijah, and he and Harris followed.
"Why do you go out, dad?" Harris asked.
"Let us not insist on taking something hidden; let them come to us and beg," her father replied.
"Okay."
They got into the car and didn't see the guard anymore; perhaps he had resigned for good. She hopes Camille is doing well. She cannot claim that all parents are good because some abuse their children. They were traveling in silence. Nobody wanted to say anything. Elijah cast a distant glance at her father. She had no idea what he was thinking. He was concerned a while ago, but now everything is fine.
Elijah hopes Camille is doing well. Because she is unable to claim that all parents love and care for their children. She admitted that some parents can be abusive to their children. Her father was concerned, but he kept it to himself.
"By the way, do you have any news about your nanny?" her father asked.
"Yes, she's pregnant and due next month," Elijah replied.
"So my suspicions were correct; who is the baby's father?" her father asked.
"Architect Bustamante's only son."
"Wow. Young and successful. Mathilde was so fortunate to have him, but he is so fortunate with her because she is so kind," her father responded.
"Yes, father."
Her father burst out laughing.
"Mathilde is still catching up on the last trip. I thought she couldn't get married anymore. When did they get married? How are their parents, are they both okay with their relationship?" asked her father.
"Yes."
"Good. Life is more enjoyable when there is no conflict between both parties."
"Yes, but having a problem is the way we live."
Her father agreed.
"By the way, when are you going to give me a grandchild?"
Harris examined herself in the mirror.
"Not yet. Maybe it's not the right time," Harris replied.
"Yes, everything is perfectly timed. And I know in Elijah's transformation right now for sure you can have a child immediately." her Daddy said, smiling.
Elijah laughed. Even though they were in trouble, her father still saw her posture.
"Are we going somewhere else, daddy?" Harris asked.
"No. Take me home." answered her father.
"You'll be alone there. You'd better go home with us and sleep there." Elijah said.
"I'm fine, Elijah. Don't worry nothing bad will happen to me. And I want to be alone now." answered her father.
"Okay."
Her father came out. And entered the house. Harris drove the car away.
"Your father's question gave me concerns. Maybe I'm the one with the problem. Maybe it's true what you said that I'm barren. Those teenagers can make a woman pregnant while I am struggling to have." Harris said in a serious tone.
"Don't talk like that, sweetheart. It's not time yet. Daddy is just asking, he doesn't mean anything else." Elijah said.
"Maybe you will leave me because I didn't give you a child. I can see that married couples without children will separate," Harris said.
"I will not leave you. The basis of our love does not depend on a child. Those who separate are their decisions. They make their path. And maybe they are not meant for each other." answered Elijah.
