Chapter 26

Harris didn't do anything but go inside the house because he was caught in the middle of the night but Elijah still didn't come. It's better to sleep first and he will search tomorrow. Harris just shook his head. It's very hard to find someone who doesn't want to show up.
So Elijah didn't go inside. She just went back to her room and slept.
tomorrow,
Elijah woke up with the sun high up.

The whole area is very quiet. When she opened the window, the sun was high. So she closed it again. She left the room and looked for her nanny. She saw her sweeping the back of the house. And she saw that she was about to go inside the house when a brown car arrived. The door opened and she saw a very handsome man come out. Its complexion is smooth and so white that it doesn't seem to be heated. Elijah frowned because she seemed to see this man's face. She didn't know where she saw him. She guessed that she was still in her twenties. The question is, what is this man doing here? She noticed that nanny's eyes were wide and there was fear reflected on her face. And the man was the same as if he was looking at his nanny with anger, especially at her bulging belly.

"What are you doing here?" her nanny asked in a low voice but she still heard.
"You are surprised to see me?" the man replied, smirking.
"We already talked. Did I tell you to stop pestering me? Are you not listening?" her aunt's voice got louder.
Even if they both scream here, no one can hear.
"I don't agree, Mathilde. I prefer to follow you everywhere." replied the man, frowning. This man's handsomeness only came out, even more, when he smiled.
"You have no respect! I'm like your mother. Respect me!" her nanny shouted.

"I did nothing wrong to you, Mathilde. I didn't abuse you or anything like that. I don't want you to be my mother. Don't treat me like a child. I've already planted a child on you," the man laughed.
As she heard what she had heard, Elijah's eyes widened and she covered her mouth. She can't believe it's true. Is he the biological father of her nanny's child? She couldn't believe a man of twenty had gotten her nanny pregnant. However, age is unimportant.

"Stop! Get out of here!" her nanny exclaimed as she looked around the house.
The man also looked around.
"Why? Do you have another man here with you?" the man demanded, causing her nanny to cry.

"Please, Enrico, don't bother me anymore. I'll give you the child after I give birth; just don't follow me," her nanny begged.

"You didn't say anything like that, Mathilde. When I went to your boss's house, you told me to abort the child. You are mature enough to handle the situation, but you are cowardly. You even said you are like a mother to me, but what do you want to happen? Abort the child to save your shame?"

Her nanny took a deep breath.
"What happened to us was wrong, Enrico. Very wrong." said her nanny.
"Really? Do you still think about the wrong thing? I wish you would have stopped me from what could happen to us back then so that you will not be like that now. You are selfish. You will not allow me to show you and the whole world that I loved you very much." Enrico said.
Elijah leaned against the wall. And she didn't know why she cried either.
"You don't know what love is, Enrico. Because you're not of the right age yet."
"Age is not the basis of how you know and learn that thing. I have money and I can keep you alive no matter how many children we will have. If only you give me the chance to love and be with you." Enrico said.
"Because you don't understand me. What about your family? Your parents and siblings? What would they say if they learn about me?" said her nanny.
"To hell with them. I don't care about them. What matters is you and our future child." answered Enrico.
"No!"
"Don't wear out my patience, Mathilde. If you don't want me to go to your family and tell them the truth."

Elijah could feel her nanny's fear when she heard the word family. Her nanny was about to leave when Enrico pulled her and kissed her firmly on the lips. Elijah's eyes widened when her nanny suddenly slapped Enrico.
"Go away. I don't want to see you," her nanny said.
And went inside the house crying. She wiped her tears when she saw her.
"I heard everything. What is this all about, Nanny Mathilde?" she asked.

His nanny sat on the sofa.
"So now you're making fun of me because I became like this and got pregnant by a man who looks like my son?" she said.
"Who told you that? Only you said that yourself. I respect you so much to laugh at you." answered Elijah.
"I'm ashamed of what I'm doing, Elijah. Why among the many men who can get me pregnant, why him?"
"What's wrong with him? I can see that he loves you very much. Only once in a while can you find the mindset of a man like that." she answered.
"Because you don't understand me. That man is still in his twenties and rich. Then I have no money and am old. What will our life be like? For sure, other people will laugh at him. Why with the many women he can have why does he end up to an old like me." she said.
"You're the only one who thinks a lot. He doesn't care. He just wants to be with you. You and your future child." answered Elijah.
"I don't know what I'm going to do anymore. I don't want to be with him. One after another after me."
"He is familiar to me, Nanny Mathilde," Elijah said.
"They are our neighbors. That house with the white and red paint on the end." answered her nanny.
"Yes. I remember. His father is an Attorney and his mother is a Doctor."
Nanny Mathilde leaned back.
"I didn't think my life would come to this, Elijah. All I wanted was to take care of you and raise you properly. I didn't have in mind to get married and have a child. I just realized now that the thing that what you hate is what will happen to you and it's too much." said her nanny.
"That's a blessing."
"I don't know. Because my world will be in trouble in the coming days," she said.
Her nanny said good-by and left her to rest for a while. Elijah entered the kitchen to find something to eat. Her nanny prepared the meals. She ate and then returned to her room. Suddenly, heavy rain began to fall. So Elijah went outside for a while to get a better look at her car. She frowned because Enrico's car had not left even though it was late in the afternoon. The night passed, and it continued to rain. Her nanny has yet to appear. Perhaps she has passed out completely. She could still see Enrico's car outside. He hasn't eaten anything yet, for sure. As a result, she went to her nanny's room. And she didn't even knock but walked right in.

Even though her nanny was sleeping, she wanted to wake her up so she could go see Enrico.
"Nanny Mathilde," she says, "Enrico is still outside as if he has no intention of returning home."
Her nanny stood up and walked outside.

"Can you tell me what time it is?"

"It's late and it's still raining; I don't think he ate anything," Elijah replied.

Her aunt frowned and exited the room, and Elijah followed. Her nanny came out with an umbrella and went outside to see Enrico. Enrico must have fallen asleep because he refused to open his car door no matter how hard her nanny knocked. However, after a few hours, Enrico appeared and her nanny asked him to go inside and put the umbrella on him. The age difference between them is not obvious. Her nanny is not a black beauty. They were walking into the house together, with Elijah leaning against the door jamb. Enrico stopped when he saw her. He gave her a friendly smile.

"Good evening. The car outside is yours. I thought Mathilde's new boyfriend," he said, his nanny's waist in his grip.

Elijah mentally laughed. She was embarrassed when she saw her nanny's reaction.

"Yes, that's mine; how do you know nanny's house is here?" she inquired.

"She got away from them because she got pregnant, and now she has denied her baby the right to meet her parents," Enrico explained.
. "Stop saying that to Elijah, Enrico; why are you saying that to her when she has no idea what's going on?" her nanny said.

Elijah thought her nanny was becoming irritated.

"What's wrong with that? It's for her to know that her nanny, who has taken care of her for several years, has become her age or even younger if you think about it, and you should thank me because I didn't talk to Mr. Alfonso otherwise we would have been married long ago," Enrico said with a sweet smile as if he liked what he had just said.

In her mind, Elijah laughed. She now understands that not only her nanny's future child but also the father will cause her stress.
"Brace yourself, Enrico; you'll be out of here in no time," Enrico warned.
"Where can I sleep, Babe?" Enrico laughed. "In the other room, I know Miss Elijah is sleeping there, so you don't have a choice; I'll sleep next to you."
Elijah smiled. They are adorable.

"No way!" exclaimed his nanny.

"All right, Babe. Maybe our child won't have hands and feet yet, so let's make..." Enrico said.

"Shut up! I'm about to give birth, Enrico, so don't say anything," her nanny Mathilde said.

Enrico remained silent.

"Really? Are you so angry with me that you kept me in the dark about your pregnancy?" Enrico asked, frowning.

Even Elijah remained silent. Her nanny's stomach was small, making it difficult to tell that she was about to give birth. Her nanny remained motionless as well. I'm feeling guilty.

"We're going somewhere tomorrow to buy things for the baby, Miss. Come along."

Elijah simply nodded to conclude the conversation.

"Let's eat. I've been hungry for a while," Enrico grumbled as he led the way into the kitchen.
When she and her nanny entered, she saw Enrico slicing fruit.

"Babe, sit down. I've cut you some fruit so baby can be healthy," Enrico said.
"Thank you, but get dressed first; I know you've been sweating," her nanny advised.
Enrico laughed.

"Get some clothes ready for me, Mathilde," Enrico said.

"Sure. Just a moment. Sit down, Elijah, I'll just go inside the room," her nanny said as she walked away.

Elijah drew out a chair and sat.

"Isn't it obvious, Miss, that I'm in love?" Enrico asked out of nowhere.

"It's so obvious," she explained.

"But Mathilde doesn't believe me. She tries to keep me away from her. I have a steady job. I'm a surgeon. What else is she afraid of?" Enrico responded.

Elijah was amazed. At the age of twenty, Enrico was a successful surgeon. That is fantastic.
"Just understand where she came from, Enrico; your age difference is too great," Elijah said.
"Damn with that age difference, but as long as we don't step on other people's egos, that's fine," Enrico said.

"You're correct."

Her nanny returned and sat next to her. Enrico presented her nanny with sliced fruit and a plate with food on it. Elijah pondered. She's only been gone for twenty hours, but she already misses Harris; her pride is bursting at the seams, and she's in pain.
Elijah entered the room first after they finished eating because she needed to sleep.
Harris awoke early the next morning. He wasn't used to the entire house being silent. Because he was sleeping alone in the master bedroom, he wanted to cry and get drunk. When he's cold, no one will hug him. He rose slowly and entered the bathroom to take a shower. He won't eat anymore, and he might just order Andre to get him some food. The others who had been abandoned by the wife were getting drunk, but he didn't drink because he was thinking about how to find Elijah.
Maybe he didn't bring a car because all of their cars were in the garage and nothing was missing.
He exited the gate after finishing his dressing. He simply requested that Andre pick him up because he was not in the mood to drive. After all, he could be killed in an accident. But he reasoned that it would be better for him to die because Elijah had killed him when he left him. Andre showed up a few minutes later. He is unaware of the problem he is currently dealing with, as well as Elijah's observation of Beatrice naked inside his office.
"Are you all right, sir? You don't seem to have gotten a good night's sleep," Andre asked as he opened the window.
"Yeah, let's go," he said as he climbed into the car.
Harris is constantly listening for his phone to ring. He hoped Elijah would call, but they reached the company and found no one.

"Let's eat first," he advised Andre.

So, when they arrived at the company, the first thing they did was look for a restaurant. They entered the house. Andre was the one he told to order, and he looked for a seat for them. A few minutes later, Andre was walking towards the restaurant, where he was being followed by a waitress carrying their food.

The woman set the food down and then left. After that, Andre sat down and they began eating.

"By the way, sir, word has spread throughout the company that Beatrice is pregnant, and she claims you are the father of the child."

Andre gave Harris water after he vomited and threw up what he had eaten.

"What? I never sleep with her, and I love my wife; get her out of the company if she doesn't want me to put her in jail," he replied.

This is too much for Harris. Why does such untrue news come out? He didn't want it to get to the point where he and Elijah would be separated forever. His wife is so smart that she doesn't want to lose her patience and divorce him. Harris's head suddenly hurt and he no longer felt like eating.
"I'll go to the office first, Andre. You pay." Harris said and he gave her some money.

"I've finished paying, sir. Go ahead of the company," answered Andre.

Harris walks as if he's insane. His thoughts were racing with Elijah's. He thinks about it all the time. Whether it eats well where it is now. He sat in his swivel chair a few minutes later.

And signing the new document placed on top of his desk, vouchers for his employees' wages. It piled up as if he couldn't finish it.

He was astounded by what he saw on his fifth signature. His wife's name was written on the voucher, but not her surname. Why is it here? Is this a document for employees, so her name cannot be here? As far as he knows, no one with the same name as his wife works here. Is this a coincidence, or is Elijah secretly working here? But why is that?
Then came Andre.
"Look at this, Andre," he suggests.
And he handed over the document. Andre frowned as he read it.

"This is your wife's name; why is it on this document? This document is for a company employee; don't tell me she worked here without your knowledge?" Andre asked.

"I'm not sure, which department is that from?" Andre asked.

"To Mrs. Acosta," Harris replied.

"Wait, I'll go to Mrs. Acosta first and send her here," Andre said before exiting. Mrs. Acosta arrived a few minutes later. She didn't smile at him a smile.

"What do you need, sir?" she asked.

"I have a question for you," he said as he handed her the paper.

"How does this relate to me?"

"I just wanted to know why my wife's name was on your voucher?" he asked.

"I'm not sure; perhaps you should ask the person who encoded that document?"

Harris cocked his brow.

"Mrs. Acosta, we're both old here, so don't treat me like a child.'

"Ask your wife about that," she responds.

"You're in charge of your department. So you know who your employees are, right? Or you're simply concealing something from me. I have the authority to fire you at any time "Harris stated.

He noticed that Mrs. Acosta was unconcerned about his threat.

"I'll do my best. I'll leave your company on my own. And I just want to point out that you are unfamiliar with your wife's behavior. Or she doesn't know your behavior as well." Mrs. Acosta explained.

Mrs. Acosta made Harris lean on his swivel chair after she left. He's curious about Elijah's mission and why he worked at the company without his knowledge. He can't believe his wife is deceiving him.

"Don't involve Mrs. Acosta in your frustration, sir. She doesn't know, and she's a good employee, so firing her isn't right," Andre advised.
"I'm just bluffing her into confessing, but I don't. I have a lot of concerns. Elijah even left me because he saw Beatrice naked and setting on my lap," he says.

Andre's eyes widened.

"What happened? How did that happen?" Andre asked.
"She admitted that she was the one who sent the dish and food to me, and I slept here in the office and I just woke up in that position while I'm topless and Beatrice as well and then the door opened, and I saw Elijah turning pale at what she saw, and I know I'm struggling to find her, and I don't want our daddy to know because it may cause more trouble and break his trust in me."
Andre's head shook.
"You're too handsome. And you don't watch too much, so when a woman gets too into you, you have to lock the door. Because the wife doesn't always understand what they see, it hurts their feelings. It's not because they love us too much, they can always understand us." Andre explained.
Harris has reason to clench his fist. So he finally admitted that it was his fault. Why didn't he just shut the door?

Elijah, on the other hand, left with Nanny Mathilde and Enrico. He left his car at his grandmother's house.

He was running late and took a short nap.

He became aware, however, when he heard his nanny and Enrico arguing.

"What are you doing, Enrico? Why are we here?" her nanny asked sharply.

"Stop hiding, Mathilde; you're about to give birth, and your parents have the right to know what's going on," Enrico said.

When they stop in front of a cement house with blue paint and many flowers lined up outside. Elijah noticed her nanny's face turning pale.
"Get out, Mathilde. They're your parents, and you've done so much to improve their lives that they can't hurt you," Enrico said.
Nanny Mathilde was forced to leave the house. And he followed them as they walked. They discovered people who were clearly family members of his nanny. He was staring at his nanny's bulging stomach rather than at them. His nanny embraced the elderly woman and man. And Elijah just stood there quietly watching.
"Mom, Dad, Enrico, and Elijah."
Then Enrico hugs her nanny's mother and father. Although Elijah only smiled, she could sense the tension between her nanny's parents. They entered the house, leaving Enrico on the balcony.
"I'm Mathilde's boyfriend, Ma'am, sir," Enrico said.
Her nanny's parents smile but they feel intimidating about Enrico.
"Feel at home." her nanny's mother said.
"Let's go inside," the nanny's father suggested.
Elijah is aware that his nanny's parents have many questions. Elijah sat on the sofa when they got inside because his leg hurt. Nanny's parents gave her a look. Particularly in its stomach. As a result, his nanny bowed.
"I'm sorry if I just showed up here now, but I'm embarrassed by you because I got pregnant," his nanny explained.

His parents both laughed.

"We don't mind getting you pregnant because you're of the right age, and it's a good thing you made it to the last trip."

But what if you don't say that man is your child's father? Can you tell me why, among so many men, at that age? The age difference between you two is enormous. He's similar to your son "His nanny's father stated.

There is nothing wrong with love, even if there is an age gap. The wrong thing in love is loving someone married, but knowing nanny and Enrico, they are both single, so it's okay. Nanny bowed. Instead of being supportive, they added to her nanny's stress.

"But it's obvious that your age gap doesn't exist with that man because we feel his respect and love for you more, especially for us, but we know that people have something to say about you." said his nanny's mother.
Elijah feels sorry for his nanny. However, she preferred to remain silent because she was excluded from the conversation.
"I love you daughter. Even if you say she's older than me. Was it my fault if my heart beats for her? I don't care what other people say, as long as Mathilde and I are the two of us even though I'm this young, I'm not like other men who are cowards in responsibility. She tried to hide and she even wants to abort the child because of the fear of you and what other people will say but I don't care. I have a permanent job that can support them just in case. So have mercy on me and let me love your daughter." Enrico said in a sad voice.

Elijah noticed that her nanny's mother suddenly started crying.
"We want our daughter to be happy and we can see that you love her even though we will give support and blessings to both of you. I hope you will take care of him and love him together with our grandson." said the father of her nanny who was also crying.

Elijah sees that her nanny is happy because her parents accept Enrico but there is still a problem because they haven't talked to his parents yet.
They are now outside the house, eating ripe mangoes, while Enrico is inside, talking to her nanny's family.
"How are you feeling, daughter? Are you able to talk to your husband? You will not be happy if you do not trust him. It is normal in a relationship with such an issue that you should be strong. It is not a martyr to give your husband a chance to explain.
Elijah remained silent. She wasn't sure if she was ready to talk to Harris right now, and she suspected she was overreacting.
