Chapter 19

Upon entering, Elijah immediately ordered a slice of cake and Harris' favorite coffee. A red ribbon chocolate cake is included. She spoke with the waiter after she paid.

"Have you heard of the HB company?" she inquired of the man.
"Yes, sir."

"Please deliver that to their boss, Harris Blake, and if he asks, don't tell him I bought it for him; just say it was ordered online."

"Yes, ma'am."

"I appreciate it."

After she paid, Elijah left. Someone knocked on the door as Harris stood near the glass. He opened the door because Mark was not present. He noticed a man's smiling face.

"Good afternoon, sir. Delivery for you," says the man.

"Huh? '


Harris saw a slice of cake still wrapped in plastic Tupperware and a coffee.


"Maybe you just made a mistake delivering that," he says.
"No. Aren't you the boss of this company?"
"I am."
"It's for you."
"Who buy that?" he asked again.
"Just ordered online and delivered here." said the man.
Harris just took it so that the man could leave. And he put it on his desk. He is even more confused now. He brought the coffee so he just touched another note with something written on it.
"Drink and eat sweet as sweet as you." he read slowly.
Whoever sends it has given him concern. So he would call Elijah and ask if she was the one sending the food.

Elijah's heart seemed to jump with nervousness when his phone rang inside his pants pocket. He picked it up and her nostrils widened at the sight of the caller. It's a good thing she hasn't entered the company yet. She stops walking to answer the call.
"Hi, Sweetheart. What's wrong?" she asked.
"Nothing. I called because I missed you." his answer.
"Really? I miss you too."
"There's a cake and coffee that came here to my office? Did you send it?" Harris asked her reason to make Elijah grin. Be patient with them now because she won't admit it.
"Nope. When did it just arrive?"
"Just now."
"Wow, you have an admirer. Who is it?" only Elijah could say.


She knows that her husband now thinks about who is the sender behind the food he receives.
"Why do you seem happy instead of jealous," Harris asked her in astonishment.
Elijah wanted to roll with laughter.
"Why would I do that? We're no longer teenagers who have to fight over simple things," she replied.
"Yeah. Thank you."
"By the way, Daddy called earlier. He was asking when we were supposed to visit him."
"It's only tonight. I'm going to try to get home early. I don't know why there are so many piles of work today." said Harris.
"That's okay. I'll just pick you up at the company," she says.
"Really? You do that?"
"Of course."
"Alright. Bye for now. I love you." he says on the other line.
"I love you too," she answered with a wide smile on her lips once the phone hung up.
Elijah then proceeded to enter the company and enter inside their office. Just before she entered Mrs. Acosta's office had already been blocked her by Miss Roche. The woman, in the beginning, didn't like her anymore, especially since she didn't like it either.
"You're a newcomer here, you've been wandering around. I'm just wondering why you and Mrs. Acosta have become so close to each other. What kind of potion did you give her?" she said rudely and raised an eyebrow at her.
"You know you just lack care. I don't have time to talk to you if you don't have anything sensible to say. I'm not doing you any harm." she said to her and she would have passed her but she had pulled her arm.
"What? You might want to put a black eye on your face," she said as if she was going to punch her.

Suddenly scared and left their office. She looked around and saw everyone staring at her.
"Be patient with her, Eli. She fights all of us here when we were also a beginner before. She's too bitter in life so it's like that. But she was suddenly scared of you because she knew you would punch her." said the woman.
And everyone laughed. Elijah also laughed and entered the office of Mrs. Acosta.
About four o'clock in the afternoon it was time to go home. But he noticed that Mrs. Acosta had not left yet in her seat.
"Ah, Eli. Go home. We have overtime now since you're a new employee and you can't work overtime yet." she says.
"All right."
She grabbed her sling bag and left the office.
"Are you coming home, Eli?" they asked.
"Yeah."
"Take care."
"Okay. Bye everyone," she says.
She was walking out when she passed the guard.
"We have overtime today, Ma'am," he says.
"Okay."
Elijah hailed a taxi before her husband caught up with her when he left the company. It's good that someone stopped right in front of her. She got on and was driven by the driver. She called Lucy.
"Hello, Lucy, where are you?" she asked.
"Still at university. Lots of queues, ma'am." is the answer.
"Okay. I'll just go home first."
"All right."



She hung up the phone. An hour later she reached their house. After she paid she immediately got out of the taxi and went inside. She got dressed quickly because she had said earlier that she would pick up Harris at the company. A few minutes later she left the house and drove the car. It's good that she knows how to drive. She looked at her phone and her husband had a message for her that at the coffee shop near the company he was waiting for. Elijah's chest beat hard because the coffee shop Harris was referring to was the one she had ordered earlier for cake and coffee. But she just won't get out of the car. She reached the coffee shop and told him that she would just wait in the car. A few minutes later Harris came out of the coffee shop carrying two boxes of cake. Elijah opened the car window.
"Here you are in the front seat ride, sweetheart," she says.
"Yeah. I'll put it in the back first."
Harris got in next to her and she started the car.
"I'll be the driver, Sweetheart," he says.
"Not anymore. Just lean there first. Isn't your back sweat? I forgot to bring you extra clothes."
"Don't mind me. I'm not sweating."
"Okay."
The two of them also traveled for an hour before they reached her daddy's house. His car was outside the gate so he was just at home now. Harris went down first and picked up the purchased cake and she was the last. Elijah was about to press the doorbell but she saw that the gate was ajar so she just pushed it. She opened the front door and entered. She saw her daddy doing something in the living room. Elijah was amazed. so her father didn't see them.
"Dad, you are so busy. Even when we arrived you didn't realize it," she says.
"Oh my, Princess. I'm sorry. Your father is busy." he said and approached her and hugged her tightly and kissed her forehead.
"My children are visiting," he said and hugged Harris as well.
"Brothers and sisters, Dad. You look a few years younger or we're the only ones who haven't visited for a long time," said Harris.
Her father laughs. It seems like too much fun in his life right now.
"Sit down first."
"Where is Yaya Mathilde?" she asked.
"It's in the province to go home for a while." her daddy replied.



But Elijah stared at the woman coming down the stairs. Her eyes widened at what she saw. And Harris and I looked at each other and she kicked him. Harris wanted to say something to her but she widened her eyes. Their eyes met the women. It stared at her in shock but there was more fear on her face when she saw her. Then his father noticed what she was looking at.
"Oh, Camille. Come here." said her father to the woman.
The woman did not seem to approach yet but her father stood up and carried her to the sofa in front of them.
"Princess, I want you to meet my girlfriend." her father said as if she were a teenager who was so in love but the woman didn't even smile, it was just the fear she felt now while facing her.
She should just be scared because the first thing she turned around and fooled was Nico and now her daddy. Just the smallness of the world. Who would have thought that this woman would be her father's girlfriend? And what she sees is that her daddy is very in love with her. She looked at her stomach but the bulge of her stomach was not clear because she was wearing a big duster. She did not smile. She’ll show that she doesn’t like her.
"Babe, she is Elijah my only daughter, and her husband Harris."
"Nice to meet you, Camille," Harris replied.
Camille just smiled hard as her eyes were on her. Elijah was about to punch herself. If she was just dreaming she wanted to wake up. This is the first time they see her father's genuine smile. Not even to her did she see his smile like this. A smile she fears.
"Babe, get us dinner ready first." her father ordered Camille.
After Camille left she confronted her father. He didn’t care if Harris was by his side and listening.
"You're just kidding aren't you, Daddy?" she asked.
"Joking where?"
"When you said that woman was your girlfriend?"
"Of course not!"
"But. She's too young for you. I'm a few years older than her." she says.
"What's wrong with that? There are a lot of lovers out there with a big age gap. Just wait. You thought I didn't notice that you didn't show Camille nicely in front of me. I didn't expect you to treat someone I love differently. " said her father.
"Because you don't know her very well, Daddy. That girl is going to cheat," said Elijah.
"How sure are you?"
Elijah was shaken. Her father is in love deeply with that woman. Whatever explanation she gave he could not believe her.
"Don't you want me to be happy?"
"Of course. I like you to be happy. But not with that woman."
"And why?"


"Because that woman is a user. Do you know what she did? She's trying to corner Nico for what she's pregnant with. And now you're next."
"What's wrong there?"
"Dad! Don't tell me that you're responsible for her pregnancy even if the father is different?" she asked.
"Yes, I love her."
"Do her parents know this? I'll tell them their daughter is here."
"No need for you to do that because she's already been kicked out."
"See? Even her parents are abandoning her," said Elijah.
"Princess, no matter how sinful a child is. The parent has no right to dismiss them and abandon them. They are the ones who need the child not the child who needs the parent." her father explained why Elijah was quiet
Elijah got up and left the living room without saying goodbye. She would have gone straight to the kitchen but she had not yet entered the kitchen when her father spoke.
"Don't you dare Elijah to throw hurtful words to Camille," he says.
She ignored him but continued to enter the kitchen. She finds Camille preparing food on the table. So innocent but the stench is inside. She would not fight her because her father could have abandoned her better than this.
"I don't like you. If you have no intention of taking my father seriously, leave here. It would be okay if I didn't know what you did to accept you more." she says.
It looked at her blankly and without reaction. So she left the kitchen and went back to the living room.
"Did Camille finish preparing the food, Elijah?" her father asked.
Elijah knows that her father was upset with her outburst but he will take care of her life if he doesn’t want to listen to her.
"It's over. We won't be long. We'll just eat at home."
"Okay."


Harris looked at her with something he wanted to say but she left the house first. She leaned against the car hood and took a deep breath. Ever since he told her about Camille her father seemed to have lost his enthusiasm. And it was as if its dealings with her had become formal. A few minutes later Harris came out of the gate and quietly entered the front seat. She also entered. The car is running very quietly even her husband is silent. She didn't know what he was thinking now.
"You're being unreasonable, Elijah. I hope even now you understand your father first. Even if you don't like that woman, you ended the night first. You're not tantrums like a child." he says.
"What do you want me to do? I'm a daughter. What my father's pain will feel is twice as much as mine." she replied.
"You're too advanced to think it's not even happening yet you're ahead. Your father is old so he already knows what he's doing. You judge a person so much. You don't know that woman very well but if you look at her guilt seems too great. "
"Because I know she won't do sober."
Harris never spoke again. He just drove quietly until they got home. Elijah was about to get out of the car when she heard her husband's phone ring. Harris answered it but she didn't bother to listen to their conversation. She was about to enter the gate when it called to her.
"Today is the birthday of one of my investors. I'm being invited. Maybe you want to come along?" he asked her.
"No, thank you," she replied.
"Shall I go?"
"Go ahead," she replied and entered the house.
But the quiet even with the lights on. Where is Lucy? She first went inside the room and lay down on the bed. She intended to visit her father but she lost her appetite when she saw that woman's face. She would call Kara and say hello.
"Hello, Elijah. How are you?" her question on the other line.
"It's ok, you?"
"It's okay."
"You and Nico?" she asked.
"Yeah, we're okay. We both find and are happy. Thank you so much. You play a big part in my love life." said Kara.
"You're welcome."
"But do you know where that woman is? She's at my dad's house. And she's Daddy's new girlfriend."
"What?"


"Yeah. It's true. I saw her recently. I went home right away because I can't face that woman. And my father is upset because of what I'm telling him about that woman. He didn't feel discouraged but he is hurt because I'm not in favor of that woman for him. " she says.
"That is hard."
"Yes."
"All right, Kara. We'll see you soon."
"Okay."
When Elijah hung up the phone, she got dressed immediately and left the room because she heard a doorbell. She was already walking to the gate and opened it. A smiling man the same age as Lucy opened the door and he is so handsome and carrying another cake and chocolate. Her eyebrows rose.
"Hi."
"Good evening. Do you need anything?" she asked.
"Good evening, ma'am. I'm here for Lucy." said the man.
"She's not here yet," she replied.
"She's already here. I followed her earlier so I found out she lives here."
"Okay. Come in first. I'll just look for him I haven't seen him yet."
"All right."
Elijah let the man sit first in the living room and she goes to Lucy in her room. She was about to knock but she saw the door open. He saw Lucy sleeping soundly so he wouldn't wake up but the man was waiting outside.
"Lucy." she shook her shoulder.
"Hmmm .."
Lucy's eyes opened and she suddenly woke up to see her.
"Why, Ma'am?"
"You have a visitor outside," she says.
"Who?"
"Just go."
Lucy probably went to the bathroom first to brush her teeth and saw that when it came out, her body was covered with a towel and she was looking for something to wear.
"Let's go out together, Ma'am."


"Just go first. I'll go to the bedroom first."
"All right."
After Lucy left Elijah spent a few minutes before following. She wanted to hear and know who that man was. She slowly came out and hid in a cabinet near the kitchen. So that she could hear the conversation. She had already seen them. Hearing someone's conversation is not good but she is so curious.
"What are you doing here? We don't know each other and even more, I don't know you," said Lucy.
The man smiled very sweetly.
"That's why I'm here to introduce myself to you because we don't know each other. I'm Justin, Lucy. You don't have to put up with it. I have good intentions for you." said Justin.
"I don't care about your intentions. You know I'm just working here," said Lucy.
"I know that's why I felt your shock when you saw me earlier. But I'm sure your boss won't scold you because they're kind. And I know them." said Justin.
"That's why you dared to come here. I don't want to be misled, Justin so leaves." Lucy said reason to laugh at Elijah's mind.
Justin laughs.
"You're too straight forward I just want to get to know you," said Justin.
"This is where it all starts. So it's only now that it's going to be cut," said Lucy.
"I know you're already enrolled. When are you going to buy your things?" Justin asked.
"I have no plans to shop."
"Look, Lucy. I want you to be my friend. But right now you're making me feel your displeasure." said Justin in a sad voice.
Lucy didn't say a word.
"I have to go. Please tell Mrs. Blake I'm leaving," said Justin and went out the front door.
