Chapter 13

JAMES

"We shouldn't be doing this." Silvana pushed me away just as I was getting into the kiss. Without a word, she rushed upstairs. I released a loud sigh, and picked my suit jacket on the couch before heading out of the house. I went into my car and drove out.

"Welcome boss." My guard greeted the moment I got to the house.

"Thank you." I replied and went in. I sauntered into my room, took off my clothes before entering the bathroom. I closed my eyes as I settled inside the bathroom. The image of Silvana in her towel with an angry face, flashed through my brain, making me chuckle. She is cute and feisty at the same time.

The chiming of my phone the moment I walked out of the bathroom made me go to the bed to take it. I checked to see a message from Vince with an attached file. The message stated:

'MISS SILVANA'S EX HUSBAND'S INFORMATION'

I scoffed. He is just sending this after I told him to do it since few days ago? Tapping on the file, his face showed up.

"Uh. He is not even handsome."

Scrolling down, his name showed up 'Reed Gaston'

"Hmm.." I sat down on the bed to read more. His company, his home address, also how he cheated on Silvana with ex before divorcing her.

"Ahh..that bastard, I will have to deal with him a little bit." I dropped the phone and walked into the closet to get something to wear.

The next day, I didn't have much to do, only a meeting with a business partner. I finished that quickly and was on my out of the restaurant where the meeting took place, with Vince beside me when someone bumped into me.

"Hey, are you bli.." he stopped when he looked up to see me.

"Oh, Mr James."

I frowned when I realized who he was, Silvana's ex. He is more ugly than he was in the picture. What did Silvana see in him to marry him?

"Do I know you?" I asked in confusion as to why he called my name, because I'm sure I have not met him physically before. I only know about him because of Silvana.

"Yes...not really, but I have requested for a meeting with you before."

"Oh, really?' I raised my brows and he nodded. He took something out from his suit jacket before pointing it at me. It was his company card.

"Why are you giving me this?"

"I would love to do business with you, or will you give me your card instead?" He asked, withdrawing his hand, but I raised mine, stopping him.

"I don't do business with people like you, so don't even dream of it." I smirked and walked past him.

"Why don't you want to meet him? His company is stable." Vince spoke up beside me. I stopped to glare at him, and he clamped his mouth shut. Rolling my eyes, I got into the car. He did the same, driving out after.
_______

REED

I watched as James walked out of the restaurant, a scoff letting itself out of my mouth. People like me? Who does he think he is?

"Reed!" I turned around to see Xander waving at me from a table.

"Hey." I mumbled at I settled on the sit in front of him.

"What was that?"

"You mean?" I furrowed my brows.

He motioned at my back. "You were talking to the guy you bumped into."

"Oh, that bastard." I scoffed.

"Who is he? Do you have a beef with him?" He asked, curiously.

"He is James of Starlight Group." I replied.

"What?! Really?" His eyes widened, as he leaned in bit. I nodded, taking one of the coffees on the table since there were two.

"I asked him for a meeting but he totally refused." I mumbled after drinking from it. He chuckled.

"You know how he is. He is known to be very proud."

"Yeah, right. But he didn't hesitate to invest in the Hardins corporation. They were going bankrupt for christ sake!" I said, and dropped the coffee cup loudly.

"Right. About that, Silvana sent me out of the house." He frowned and my eyes widened. "She did?"

"Yeah. I'm out of the company too, she totally fired me." He groaned.

My brows knitted into a frown as I listened to his whining. Silvana has suddenly gone brave, seeing as she fired Xander and announced herself as the CEO of The Hardins Corporation immediately after we divorced. Recalling her stance during the press conference, she didn't seem like she just gone through a divorce. I expected her to hurl herself somewhere and cry her eyes out, considering how much she loved me and was always vulnerable, but she doesn't seem to be like that anymore or maybe it's just a shield. Anyways, it's not beneficial for me.

"....she even fired all my people. I have no eyes or ears there!" I looked at Xander who looked like he could kill someone.

"You shouldn't have invested in that scam in the first place." I muttered, taking another sip from my coffee.

"I thought it was real, and I had to get more money since the company was going down the drain."

"I see why she fired you. You lack sense. You wanted more money, but you invested in a scheme with seventy percent failure. We were supposed to sell the company off, you jerk!" I said, loudly. He made to talk but I spoke up again.

"You weren't the only one who lost, I lost too and it's all because of you!"

"What do we do now?"

"I don't know, but we have to find away. It's more difficult now that she has James with her."

"How about getting James on your side?"

I scoffed at his stupidity, didn't he hear me when I said he refused to even meet with me?

"We just have to get him to stop supporting the company, we can think of what to do next after that."

"How do we do that?"

"I don't know, but we have to find a way.”
