Chapter 49

SILVANA

I was already getting ready to leave the company after working extra two hours when a knock sounded on the door. I shot my head, surprised that I was not the only one in the company. I called out for the person to come in and my surprise grew when I saw Mr Greg.

My brows furrowed in confusion. "I thought you left." About an hour ago, Mr Greg actually came to inform me that he was leaving and seeing him right now was really surprising.

With a small smile, etched on his lips, he came closer. "A friend actually told me about a CEO conference going on in Italy so I had to come back to research about it."

My raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "A press conference?"

"Yes," he nodded, "I think it will actually help Though you are doing your best, more knowledge would help and also, you would get to connect with other international CEOS."

"Really? Then send me the info. I will check it out and decide if I would go."

"I already did."

"Oh... " I trailed and turned to my computer with the thought of checking it, but I decided against it. I would just check it once I get home.

"Thanks, Mr Greg." I smiled at him, and he nodded. I picked my bag and together, we walked out of the office.

"Right. I already checked with the brands Benita told me, and it's just as she said. I also confirmed that they were in contact with the two brands lately." Mr Greg spoke up as we rode the elevator.

"Are you sure?" I asked and he nodded. "I can still check more if you are not satisfied."

I raised my hand. "There is no need. Give them the funds they need tomorrow with a cancellation for any additional funds. It's up to them to use it well."

"Will do."

We went into our various cars when we arrived at the parking lot, and I drove out first. I put on some music, singing along as I sped moderately through the roads.

The lovely sound of my music was cut short by my ringtone. I glanced at the screen and an unexpected smile appeared on my lips when I saw James as the caller. I swiped the green button without a second thought.

"Hey, Cute Vana." A blush rised up on my cheeks, and I bit my lip, clearing my throat after.

"Hey James."

"So, did you find any post relating to you." My lips pursed, and I shook my head, forgetting that he could not see me.

"Is your silence a yes or a no?"

"It's a no. You were right when you said I shouldn't worry."

"I know, right? You should always listen to me."

I rolled my eyes, slowing down when I got to the walkway meant for pedestrian crossing.

"But, come to think of it, how come not even a single person posted about it even after filming it?" I said out the question that has been bothering me, but I got no answer.

My brows creased as I stared at the screen with the corner of my eye. "Are you there?"

"I am, they probably don't see a reason to. I mean, does it make sense to just post random stuff about someone?"

My mouth twitched reasonably. Come to think of it, he is right and also wrong at the same time. In this recent century, nobody cares about what you think, as long as they make something off you, then it's all good.

I brought the car to life at the sight of the green light on the traffic sign. We kept talking until he brought up the CEO'S conference Mr Greg told me about.

"Are you going?" He asked.

"I don't know, are you?"

"I'm going if you are going."

"What!" I. , stunned at his reply. Why is he acting like an unserious student right now.

"Inform me when you make your decision." His voice scene up and I rolled my eyes. "What if I don't?"

"I will still find out."

"Wait, what do you... mean... " He already hanged up.

Jerk! I snickered. The music came up again, while I concentrated on driving.

________

"Goodnight." I said to Cynthia as I left the dining room. I went upstairs and since I already had my bath, I made myself comfortable in my bed before picking up my phone. I checked for the file Mr Greg sent to me and read through it.

The conference was beginning on Monday and holding for three days in Italy. My interest got piqued when I found out there would be networking sessions, case study presentations and lots more. Things I would really love to engage in. I immediately registered and got the needed materials, since the deadline for the registration was on Friday, which was tomorrow.

When I was done with everything, I sent a text to James informing him that I was going and waited patiently for a reply.

Chewing on my lips, I watched as minutes passed, while I waited for a reply from James. I had just dropped my phone, since there was no reply and was about going to bed when my phone beeped.

I sprang up immediately, taking the phone from the bedstand. A smile appeared on my lips when I saw a reply from James.

COOL. SEE YA THEN

My eyes remained on the message as I reread it countless times. I only dropped my phone when I became sleepy. I laid back on the bed and closed my eyes. I will get my things prepared tomorrow, but before that, I had to be somewhere.
