Chapter 64

JAMES

"I think we are done here." I said, ending the meeting with my business partner. We shook hands before I left the room with Vince. Walking past the other private room, I stopped when I accidentally saw Xander in one of the rooms.

"I would love to buy your shares at a price five percent higher than the normal price." I heard him say and my eyes went to the person he was talking to. I had no idea who he was and I didn't care, but then, why is Xander trying to buy shares?

"Boss." Vince called and I turned to him with a questioning look.

"Do you have something else to do?"

"Oh, no. Let's go." I replied immediately and after taking one glance at Xander, I walked away.

An hour after we got to the office, Vince showed up in my office with a document.

I took the document from him, groaning lowly when I saw the number of files and documents on my table.

"You know what?" I faced him, "Rather than a document form, why don't you send it through mail, huh?"

He nodded slowly, and I smiled, waving him off. He walked out but the door opened the next second. Thinking it's him, I looked up.

"Oh, it's you." I turned back to my system when I saw it was Chad.

"What's with that remark, huh?" Chad asked as he came to sit in front of me but I didn't reply. A takeaway coffee was dropped on the table and I looked up, my gaze moving from the cup to Chad questioningly.

"I got one for myself on my way here, so I decided to get one for you too."

"Oh – " I trailed off when I saw his stained shirt. "Did your shirt drink yours?" I asked with sarcasm.

His eyes rolled as he dropped his own cup. "Bumped into Karen and her coffee went flyin' all over my shirt."

I furrowed my brows confusedly. "Karen?"

"Yes Silvana's friend."

"Oh, I forgot her name."

"Right, that's your specialty." Chad rolled his eyes and I chuckled, taking my coffee. I sipped from it, nodding my head in affirmation.

"Where did you get it?"

"Am I supposed to know that? I just got it on my way here."

"Oh." I mumbled and took another sip. "You know, why would someone probably buy shares at an higher price than normal?" I asked.

Chad shrugged. "What else, if not to allocate shares?"

I nodded, speaking up again. "But why buy at a higher price?"

Chad's expression turned blank. "Why are you asking me that? You are the business man here not me."

"Right. In that case, find out what Xander's been doing and get someone to follow him."

"What am I? A detective?" He asked and I frowned. "You are not a detective, but you can do what I asked? You are a hacker and isn't this one of your services? I mean, you have people to do it for you, so why are you acting fussy?"

"What? Hey, you should talk to me nicely since I'm the one helping you."

"I can get someone else to do it then." I said with a roll of my eyes before turning to my system.

"You know you're annoying, don't you? And who the hell is Xander?"

"Vana's cousin, he is the head of Hardins Construction."

"Now I get it." I looked at him to see him nodding his head. "It's all because of Silvana, right?"

"Hmm." I replied and he heaved. "Silvana's gotten you real bad. Anyways, I moved into a new apartment. Check it out."

I glanced at the phone he placed in front of me briefly before turning back to my laptop.

"It's good." I mumbled, and he scoffed. "You didn't even stare at it for more than a second. You have a coke check it out once I move in fully, okay?"

"I don't think so."

I heard a bang on the desk and I looked up to see Chad glaring at me.

"Do you want to die?"

"Fine fine, I will check it out when I have time." I said with an eye roll, and he smiled. "You better do."

________

I left work once it was time and when I got home, I received a message from Vana asking if I was home. I told her yes while wondering why? Was she coming?

The thought of it made my stomach tingle with excitement. I had not seen her since yesterday, but It seemed like days.

"You are back." The voice I heard as I walked into the house made me look up from my phone. A frown appearing on my face when I saw Kyra seated on the couch.

"What are you here again?"

Her lips curved into a smile and she stood up, striding towards me. "What else? I came to see my boyfriend."

I rolled my eyes, exhaling tiredly. At this point, I really think she needs to see a psychiatrist.

"Didn't you miss me?" She stopped in front of me, wrapping her arms around my neck and when I tried to push her off, but she grabbed me, her lips meeting with mine. At that moment, the door opened and I quickly pushed her off, but my eyes widened when I saw Silvana.

"It's not what you think." I tried to explain but she was already out.

I made to follow her, but Kyra grabbed me. "Don't tell me you are going after her?"

"What then? Should I stay to listen to your madness!" I snapped and released my hand roughly from her hold before rushing outside, but Vana's was already driving out. I tried to stop her but it was fruitless.

Biting my lip hard, I quickly messaged her that kissing Kyra was a mistake, but I she didn't reply. Sighing out, I made returned into the house.

"Get out!" I said to Kyra, but she just smiled. Pissed, I walked over to her and grabbed her hand, pulling her out of the house despite her struggles and yells.

"Come close to me again, and you are dead." I threatened and shut the door on her face.

"James,"

I turned when I heard "Why did you let her in?"

"She said you were aware, and – "

"Don't let her into this house again." I cut in, storming to my room.
