Chapter 59

"Welcome home, ma'am." Cynthia greeted me in her cheerful voice as I stepped into the house.

"Thank you, Cynthia. How is life without me?"

"Bad, ma'am." She replied and I chuckled.

"I made dinner." She pointed at the dining room, and I nodded.

"Thanks, I will have my bath first." I told her and turned to Mr Greg who was with my bag. I took the bag from him. "I will see you tomorrow."

"Shouldn't you rest, you just came back from a trip." Mr Greg said with an hesitant look.

I smiled. "Thanks for worrying, but I practically rested in Italy, so don't worry."

"If you say so." Mr Greg said with a little shrug, and I nodded.

After he departed, I retreated to my room, where my familiar scent of olive lingered. I guess being away for four days really has not much effect. My lips curved into a smile, as I pulled off the leather jacket I was putting on. I dumped it in the laundry basket before moving on to get rid of the other pieces on me. I went to bathroom when I finished undressing. There, I met my bath already prepared, and I wasted no time to get into the bathtub, relaxing my body as I left the warmness of the water wash over me.

Tomorrow, I will get back to work and maybe do some supervision.

"Welcome back, boss."

"Good morning ma'am."

As I stepped into the company with poise I was met with greetings from my workers. I responded to their greetings with a smile and made my way to the elevator.

"Young miss!" Mr Greg called just as the elevator was about closing. I peered out to see him rushing over, so I quickly pressed the open button, stopping it from closing.

"Thank you!" Mr Greg said through heavy breaths as he rushed into the elevator, which began closing again.

"Morning, Mr Greg."

"Yeah, you are here like you said." Mr Greg said after calming down.

"Yep." I smiled, flipping my hair a bit and he chuckled.

"I see you got your hair done." He said, gazing at it.

"Yep, how do I look in it." I asked, looking at him expectantly, but he sighed. "I don't know, but you look nice?"

My face fell and I rolled my eyes. Is that a compliment or what?

"You have a lot of things to attend to. They are in your office." Mr Greg said as we walked out of the elevator.

Without a word, I walked away to my office and like he said, there were loads of files stacked on my desk.

I swallowed nothing as I dropped my bag before settling down on my swivel chair. I took one of the files and immediately got to work. One of the files happened to be from Hardins Construction. It was the invoice containing the list of materials needed for the construction and their price to be bought. They were all to be bought from some 'Devan Supplies'

Without wasting anytime, I signed the needed places, and in a few hours, I was done with about ninety percent of the files. I sighed as I dropped the one I just finished tending to. I stood up and picked my bag before heading for the door, but just as I was about getting to it, the door opened and Mr Greg poked his head in, waving some files at me.

"I've got more files." He said.

"Not doing that." I shook my head, "I'm heading to do some supervision."

"With your bag?"

"I'm not doing it here." I attested, and his brows furrowed confusedly. "Where then?"

"The construction site." I replied and his eyes dilated. "What?"

"And you are going with me." I passed him a smirk before walking past him.

"Come on." I spoke when I noticed he was not following me.

"I will meet you at the parking lot, need to get my things." He said, loudly and with a nod of my head, I walked into the elevator.

I had to wait for about five minutes before Mr Greg finally joined me in the car.

"Sorry for delaying." He apologized as he entered the car, but I just told him to drive. We were out of the company in few seconds.

After about an hour and half drive, we finally got to the construction site. We left the car, going in. Quite a number of workers didn't recognize me, but I was okay with that. Not being recognized will help me in checking things out without them being hidden, that's if there is something to be hidden.

As I moved through the site, the smell of filled and the materials used filled my nose, but I still kept going. As I did, my eyes suddenly landed on Xander who was discussing with someone... Reed? What is he doing here and how come he is discussing so intently with Xander? When did they get so close, because from what I remember, while I was still married to Ree, they were never close, so how?

"Isn't that Mr Reed?" Mr Greg who also seem asked, but I said nothing and just went over to them, since that was the only way to get answers.

"We meet here again." I spoke up as I got closer and they turned, getting startled when they saw me.

"What's wrong?" I smirked as I took the last step which brought me closer to them. "You surprised? And... " My gaze moved to Reed. "May I ask, what are you doing here?"

My gaze moved briefly to Xander who swallowed. I raised my brows, noticing Xander's uneasiness. "Why aren't you saying anything?"

"Err – "

I cut in when my eyes landed on a box which was been moved by one of the workers. I called him over to drop the box and he did. I moved closer to the box, my eyes fixated on the labelled name on the box.

Why is it it Z-Premier Supplies and not Devan Supplies?
