Chapter 62

SILVANA

"Did Xander get my message?" I asked Mr Greg as we walked into the elevator. We were already heading home after today's work.

"Yes, he already refunded ten percent of the funds like you asked him to." Mr Greg replied.

Nodding my head, I smiled. "Good, that's how is should be." Then there was silence not until Mr Greg cleared his throat. I turned to him with a raise of my eyebrow, because I knew he had something to say.

"Err... about The Costas Construction, how did you know about them. I smiled. The Costas Construction was Lily's company. I decided to use them as our construction supply company, and I know Mr Greg had questions about them, but there wasn't really anything to be worried about. After hearing Lily's take on her company, I also did my research about them. They had a good reputation and produced quality materials, and since Xander had started to pull some stunts, they were a good option and I even got a discount so it's all good.

All this, I explained to Mr Greg and he seemed okay with it, eventually stopping his questions. We departed when we got to the parking lot and I immediately drove home.

As I pulled up in my house, my mind went to James. I took out my phone from my bag, wanting to message him. I had just finished typing a 'hey' and was about sending it when I paused. Would I seem too forward by messaging him first? He is even worse. How could he ghost me for two days ever since we departed at the airport when he jus confessed to me.

I huffed and made to leave the message app but I mistakenly tapped on the 'send' button. My eyes widened as I stared at the message which was immediately read by him.

The hell. How did he see it so fast? I gasped when my phone started ringing with him as the caller. Biting my lip, I slowly picked the call.

"What's up, do you miss me?"

"What? I don't!" I snapped with a scowl on my face and he chuckled. "Yeah, right. Aren't you going to come out though?"

"Huh, what do you mean?" A knock on the window made me turn to it. I gasped when I saw James staring at me with a smirk on his face. I immediately opened the door, leaving the car.

"How come you are here?" I asked loudly and he shrugged."Why else would I be here if not to see you?"

I eyed him skeptically. "Why would you want to see me?"

"To have dinner together." He replied with a smile and I blinked. "But I'm already home."

"I can eat in your house then." He replied immediately and my brows furrowed. "Don't you have food in your house."

"Let's go." He said and turned away from me before walking towards the house. I twitched my lips before going after him. "Wait for me!"

"Welcome ma'am and – " Cynthia said, trailing off when she saw James.

I quickly stepped in. "He is James."

"Oh," she nodded, bowing and James nodded.

"Is dinner ready?" I asked Cynthia and she nodded. "I just finished setting the table."

"Great. I will be back." I told James before going upstairs. I dropped my bag and changed into a slipping before returning to the living room. James was already seated in the dinning room so I went to join him.

"Thank you." I smiled at Cynthia as she finished dishing out the food before sitting down. She left and I turned, my eyes landing on James who was staring intently at me.

"Why are you staring at me?" I asked carefully, and James sighed, still staring at me with that look. "You look prettier than the last time I saw you. Do you get prettier everyday or something?"

"What?" I chuckled but I stopped when I noticed James serious look. "Is this a joke?"

He shook his head, leaving closer. "Do you have a secret or something? Tell me, I want to know too."

"Stop with the joke, you are already handsome." I mumbled, taking my spoon but I stopped when I realized what I had just said. I slowly looked up, my gaze landing on James, who was grinning proudly.

"What I mean is – " I tried to talk but he waved hi hand, cutting me off. "I know I'm handsome too. I'm glad you are also aware."

I rolled my eyes and faced my food, knowing I could not defend myself. He asked truly handsome, too handsome that it's sometimes annoying. James kept talking, keeping the kids in place. He also didn't stop complimenting me, that I was all red by the time we finished eating.

We were heading to the door since he was about leaving when I spoke up. "Wait." He turned to me, raising an eyebrow.

I swallowed, fidgeting with my fingers as I spoke up. "I enjoyed today. Thank you, and – " I paused leaning in with the aim of kissing him but the doorbell rang, halting my movement. I quickly moved away but I was drawn back by James, who smashed his lips on mine. I gasped lowly, kissing him back immediately.

Our lips moved against each other sweetly and I was about wrapping my arms around his neck when the door opened. I quickly pushed him away, taking my gaze to the door to see Karen. This girl, why is she here now!

Karen's face moved from me to James "Why are you two – "

"Oh, you already came in." She was cut off by Cynthia who was just coming to get the door.

"I know the pin actually."

"Then you should have just come in without ringing the doorbell!" I said, almost snapping and she passed me a surprised look. "It's not my house, so..."

I sighed. What am I even saying? It would have been worst if she came in without ringing the doorbell.

"How come he is here." I looked to see her staring at James. I immediately grabbed his arm, pushing him towards the door. "He was about leaving."

"See you some other time." James smiled at me before walking out.

I breath out before turning back. I swallowed when I saw Karen staring at me with tease in her eyes.

"So, tell me what happened." She grabbed my hand but I pushed it off. "Nothing happened."

"Something happened or you wouldn't have acted that way earlier."

"How did I act?" I questioned in a snapping manner, as I went to the couch. I turned on the TV and Kyra's face showed up.

"Ooh! It's her!" Karen exclaimed, sitting beside me. I turned to her. "Do you know her?"

"Of course! She is a popular model like me, I heard she is back in California."

"Oh – so she is a model." I muttered, turning back to the TV.

"You act like you know egr somewhere." Karen said, and I nodded. "I do, she is James' ex girlfriend.

"What!" Karen exclaimed, facing me. "Are you serious?"

"Yeah, she is still stuck up on him though, like a psycho."

"A psycho?"

"Hmm, what else will you call someone who still insists that she is still dating you after breaking up, and even stalks the person?" I questioned, turning to Karen who shook her head. "That's bad."

"Yeah, it is."
