Chapter 57
"Ahh!!!!!" I let out a loud yelp as I stumbled back, almost falling, but arms wrapped around my waist, keeping me in place.
My eyes immediately went closed and I raised my hands in surrender. "Please don't hurt me, I will give you money if that's what you – "
"What's wrong with you?" My eyes fluttered open at the sound of that voice. I gasped when I saw James. "It's you!"
"Who did you think it was?"
My eyes widened as realization hit me. "Where you the one following me?" I asked, pointing at my back, and he nodded.
"Why would you do that?!" I yelled and he flinched. "Did I do anything wrong?"
"Of course! Why were you following me like some kind of thug instead of coming straight to me?"
"Err – I wasn't sure if you were the one, because of your hair, so I decided to follow you first to confirm."
He replied and my mouth went open. Did I do something wrong by changing my hairstyle? I almost had a heart attack!
"By the way, who did you think it was?"
"Some street thug or... ahh!! I don't know!"
"Seriously?" He chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement. I shot him a glare, but he just smiled, his gaze drifting to my hair. "Your hair looks great." He complimented, causing my cheeks to get heated up.
"You're blushing!" He laughed and I quickly looked away from him, biting my inner cheek as I tried to stop myself from blushing.
"If course you are, it's so obvious."
"Is this funny to you!" I snapped, and he clasped his mouth shut. "Sorry, but you look cute while blushing."
"You – " I made to hit him, but he quickly moved away.
"Jerk!" I huffed and stormed inside the hotel.
"Hey, are you angry?" James asked as we entered the elevator, but I ignored him.
"Fine, I'm sorry... huh?" I rolled my eyes, looking away from him but he pulled my head back to face him. "Are you still angry?"
I gulped, staring into his deep gray eyes which held affection in them. How come he is this good?
"Hmm." He nudged me. I blinked, nodding my head slowly and he smiled, his gaze moving to the bags I was holding.
"Went shopping?"
"Yes." I replied and he nodded, taking the bags from me.
"What are you doing?" I tried to protest but he was already out of the elevator.
I order my lips as I stared at his going figure. What's wrong with him today?
"Aren't you coming?"
"Oh. " I quickly rushed out of the elevator before it went shut and we started going together.
"Thank you." I said when we got to my room, and made to collect but he took his hand back.
"I will take them in."
My brows furrowed as I just stared at him. He motioned at the door and I glanced at him carefully before unlocking the door.
"Oh, do you guys know each other." We were about going in when Lily showed up.
"Yes, we do." I replied, turning completely to face her.
She shook her head. "I had no idea."
"We were together during the dinner." James spoke up.
"You were?" Her eyebrows hiked up like she was thinking, then she suddenly nodded her head. "That's true, but – "
"You don't expect her to know when we were just sitting beside each other." I told him, and Lily nodded in agreement.
"Anyways, there is a lounge party going on? Are you going?"
"Lounge party!" I exclaimed and she nodded. "You were not aware?"
"No, it was not in the agenda." I mumbled and she chuckled, hitting me slightly to arm. "Anyways, you wanna follow me?"
"Yes." James said before I could answer, and I turned to him with a questioning look. He just shrugged, before entering the room. In the next minute, he came back without the bags.
"Let's go." He said and Lily nodded before leading the way. James and I trailed after her. I looked at James who was staring ahead.
"Are we here for a conference or parties?" I whispered, and he turned to me, a small frown on his place.
"What is a conference without little gatherings? Should we just be frowny like you?"
I frowned "What are you trying to say?"
"Just what we are talking about. Didn't you hangout during your childhood years?"
"I did, why?" I asked, blinking in confusion. He shook his head and I was about speaking when we got to a lounge.
"Wow." I mumbled, taking in the warm blue lighting and thumping music.
"Enjoy!" Lily yelled before disappearing in the crowd.
"Yo! Mr James!" I turned at the sound of that to see the same guys from morning waving at him.
"I will catch you later."
"Yeah yeah, see you." I pushed him towards the guys, rolling my eyes after. Do those guys have no other job than to call James whenever they see him? Hmph!
I moved towards the bartender, ordering for a shot of tequila as I settled on a stool. In no time, it was brought to me and I immediately downed in, not caring if I would get wasted the next minutes.
"One shot, please." I turned to the direction of the voice, to see a man. The first thing that caught my attention was his deep blue eyes and then his permed hair... I looked away, not wanting to seem rude.
The bartender showed up, dropping out glasses in front of us. I took my glass, ready to drink.
"Cheers." I turned to see his glass raised. Gazing carefully at his face, I clinked my glass with his before drinking from it. I drank little this time.
"What's your name?"
"Silvana, why?" I replied, tilting my head slightly to stare at his face.
"I'm Jones, nice to meet you."
"Hmm... " I nodded, turning back to my glass.
"Can I have your number?"
"No, you can't." I looked up, surprised to see James.
"What are you doing here?"
"What do you think?" James smirked and my brows furrowed.
