Chapter 65

SILVANA

After my brief conversation with Karen yesterday, I had come to a realization. I was really stuck, but I just needed to get out of it myself. It was obvious that I liked James. Getting all red and having heart fluttering moments were easier with him. Having conversations with him was something that I liked and wanted to continue happening, so I decided to make a move.

I went to James house, but the scene I saw wasn't what I expected. James and Kyra were kissing!

I stood still in shock and could only regain myself after a few seconds. I immediately rushed out of the house, heading to my car immediately. As I drove out, I saw James rushing out of the house but I didn't wait. I continued driving and only stopped once I was a few distance away from him house.

As I pulled the car to a stop, my phone beeped. I reached for it to see a message from James, but I didn't bother to read it. I gently tossed my phone on the seat beside me before leaning back on my own seat. The scene of James kissing Kyra replayed in my mind, and I was unaware of when a tear slipped out of my eyes. Did James lie to me? Was everything and the kiss we shared all a lie... his confession? He acted like he didn't want to see Kyra again but now, he is kissing her? I even told him I was coming, so how could he play me like this?

Theses swirled around my head as I stayed motionless there. Did I really make a mistake by even thinking of giving him a chance, huh?

I groaned when my phone blared loudly. I sluggishly turned my head towards it, checking the caller. It was my Uncle.

I immediately sat up, wiping the tear which was almost dried away from my before taking the phone.

"Hi, Uncle Jake." I said as I picked the call. I was replied with sound of footsteps before he spoke up. "How are you doing Silvana? Got some time?"

"Huh, why?" I moved on my seat curiously. Uncle Jake was not the type to ask such questions, so it was surprising.

"Err – I would be playing golf with a friend of mine, and I would like you to come with me."

"Huh – " I was speechless wondering as to why he wanted me to tag along to play golf with his friend but his answer came right up. "He has a son and I would like to introduce him to you."

"What!" My eyes widened in surprise. "Are you trying to set us up."

He chuckled. "Not really, but that wouldn't be bad, is it? Anyways, it's nice to meet other now that you're single, I'm not pressuring you though. If you are busy, we can just schedule it for another time, but you know you promised to come with me on one of my adventures, right?"

I let out a frustrated sigh, covering my face with my hand. He claims he's not pressuring me, but it feels like he's holding my careless promise against me. Unbelievable.

"Hello? Are you there?" His voice broke into my thoughts.

"Yeah," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper, followed by another sigh.

"So, what do you think? It's tomorrow."

"Fine, I'll come with you," I mumbled, reluctantly.

"Great!" He exclaimed, his cheerful tone grating on my nerves. "Tomorrow it is then, I will send you the address. Stay safe!"

"Yeah, you too," I muttered, ending the call with a loud exhale.

Wow, just wow. Why did I even promise him anything. It was meant to be a joke!

I let out a despairing cry, slumping forward to rest my head on the car wheel. I lay there, feeling lost.

This went on for a while before I finally got the will to drive again. With great effort, I started the car.

The next day, I dressed up in a moisture - wicking tank top and leggings which hugged my body well. Accompanying that, I used a jacket to cover my upper body before leaving for the golf park.

When I got there, in order to save myself some stress, I called Uncle Jake to know where he was and he directed me. So I found him easily.

"Morning, Uncle Jake." I said as I approached him. He was with a man who looked of the same age as him. I bowed in respect to the man who smiled cheerfully.

"She is as beautiful as beautiful as you said." He told Uncle Jake who chuckled. "I know right, I'm so proud to be her Uncle."

I felt my face flush in embarrassment at my uncle's remark. I looked away, trying to compose my self. What's with my uncle today?

"Oh, over here!" The man called out to someone and I turned to see a guy jogging towards us. He greeted Uncle Jake and the man, referring to him as 'dad', but I couldn't take my eyes off him. Why do I feel like I have seen him before.

"This is Silvana, his niece." His father introduced and he turned to me for the first time since he arrived. Our eyes met and I felt a jolt of recognition.

"It's you!" We exclaimed in unison and the men exchanged glances.

"Do you know each other?" Uncle Jake asked and I nodded.

"We met at a conference in Italy." Jones explained further.

The guy standing in front of me was Jones, the guy who tried to collect my number, but James had interrupted us. I rolled my eyes, wondering what might have been if James hadn't interrupt our conversation.

As the old men began to play golf, Jones and I moved a bit far away, watching them from a distance.

"I had no idea you lived in California." He spoke, taking a sip from his bottle of water.

I shrugged. "Well, as you can see."

He chuckled and I smiled.

"Hmm... I heard you were married before." I turned to him and he smiled. "I'm not trying to pry, just saying."

"I never said you were." I said with a little eye roll, feeling a bit defensive.

"Avery." I turned at the sound of my name to see James. What the hell is he doing here?
