Chapter 34

The sound from the living room drew Mrs Claire, Vana and me out of the kitchen. I stopped in my tracks when my eyes landed on the lady standing in the middle of the living room. Her eyes scanned the living room before it landed on me, and she smiled, saying.

"Hi, James. It's been a while."

I frowned, unsure of what to make of her presence. "What are you doing here?" I asked and she cocked her head to the side, giving me a sly smile. "What do you think?"

"Who is she?" Vana turned to me with a questioning look, and I was about to answer when Kyra spoke up.

"I'm his girlfriend."

My eyes widened and I turned to her. "What are you saying?"

Kyra chuckled, and moved towards Vana.

"My name is Kyra, and you?"

"Silvana." Vana smiled and looked at me. "Seems you have a guest, I will take my leave now."

"No, wait – " I rushed after and could only catch up, when we got outside. I grabbed her hand.

"Why are you doing this? You should attend to your guest." She said, her voice laced with sarcasm.

Sighing, I tried to explain. "It's not what you think..."

"What am I thinking?" I stopped, staring as she removed her hands from my hold. Without another glance, she got into her car.

I sighed loudly as I watched her drive out. I went back into the house once her car was no more in sight. Mrs Claire was nowhere to be found, but Kyra was sitting on a couch with her legs crossed, and a smug smile on her face.

"What are you doing here and what stunt did you just pull?" I asked, my voice firm. Kyra turned to the smug smile playing on her lips.

"You should welcome me instead of doing this."

I scoffed, "Welcome you? You must be going crazy. Leave my house; I don't wanna see you here when I come back."

I headed for the stairs, but Kyra's next comment stopped me in my tracks.

"Who is that girl, anyway? Hope she's not one of the girls chasing after you?"

I whipped my head towards her, frowning. "Do you think you have the right to ask that?"

"Of course, I do. You are my boyfriend."

"In your dreams, Kyra. We've been done for a long time." I asserted, and she chuckled, shaking her head. "I don't think so."

"What do you mean?" I asked with raised brows.

She smiled, and stood up, walking to me. My eyes never left her as she stopped in front of me.

"We never broke up, you know."

"I remember doing that." I sneered.

"By text? Oh please, it doesn't count." She shook her head, her smile widening as she took another step closer to me. She started leaning in, but I pushed her head back with my fingers, my face turning cold.

"Stay away from me, Kyra. And that girl who you think is chasing me, I'm the one chasing her, so get the fuck out." I declared, gesturing towards the door with my head before leaving for my room.

I heaved a sigh as I stepped into my room. I went for my phone on the bed, and dialed Vana's line, but she didn't pick it up. She didn't believe Kyra, did she? Biting my finger, I dialed her line again but it was the same.

This is all Kyra's fault. Why the fuck is she here. Exhaling, I stood up, dropping my phone carelessly before heading to my closet. I changed into more formal clothing before heading out of the room.

"What are you still doing here?" A frown appeared on my face when I got downstairs to meet Kyra there.

"Didn't I ask you to leave?" I asked, then nodded my head. It seems she wants it the hard way. Just as I was about calling for my guards to throw her out, she spoke up.

"I will leave, but just so you know, I never broke up with you, and I never will." She said, and turned around, moving to the door.

My fists folded as I watched her leave. The fact that she is back is troubling, and I don't need her and her tantrums. Not now.

I made to leave, but Mrs Claire walked out of the kitchen. "Where are you going?"

"To work."

"Without eating? The pasta Silvana was preparing before she left is ready."

"I will just pass." I replied.

"You need to take your medicine and you can't take it without eating, so come over to the dining area now." She chided softly. I smiled lightly before heading over to the dining room. She went back into the kitchen before returning with the food.

I bit my lip as she dished out the food. A felt pang of disappointment because Silvana isn't eating this with me even though she made it. I hope she is not mad. I emitted a deep sigh and began eating when Mrs Claire finished serving me.

"Where is your medication?" Mrs Claire asked minutes into the meal. I told her it was in my room and she left to get it. She returned and put two of the pills on a clean dish before pushing it towards me.

"Take it once you are done eating."

I nodded and continued eating without saying anything.

"About Kyra..." I looked up and she paused for a while before continuing. "I thought you broke up."

Nodding my head, I returned to my food. "We did, but I don't know what's going on in her head.

"Oh – "

Just then, Chad came in and Mrs Claire's attention shifted to him. "You are here." She smiled and he smiled back before facing me.

"Why didn't you call me when you had an attack?"

It surprised me that he found out, so I looked at Mrs Claire, who smiled and shrugged. I sighed, realizing that she must have told him.

I turned back to Chad and smiled. "I'm okay."

"Yeah, right. You say that everytime." Chad rolled his eyes before sitting beside me, and I knew I was in for a lecture.

"What did I tell you about calling me if you don't feel well?" He started.

"I tried to, and besides, I'm not a kid." I rolled my eyes

"Your choice." He shrugged and before I knew it, he ate from my food.

"What are you doing?" Glaring at him, I asked and he chuckled. "You should focus on taking care of yourself rather than worrying about food."

"Hey!" I shouted when he ate from it and he laughed out.
