Chapter 66

I remained silent as James took two steps closer.

"Oh, James!" Jones exclaimed beside me and James finally looked away from me to stare at him, his brows furrowing for some seconds before recognition flashed in his eyes.

"What's the name?" He asked.

"Jones, and you are her boyfriend, right?"

I immediately shook my head, speaking up. "He is not my – " but James cut in, his eyes on Jones. "Nice to meet you again."

"Yeah."

They shook hands, and I rolled my eyes, glaring at James whose gaze moved to me.

"Can we – "

"Are you stalking me? How come you're here?"

"I actually came to meet someone, I had no idea you were here."

"Yeah, right." I rolled my eyes and tucked my hands in the pocket of the jacket I was putting on.

"Is something going on – "

"Let's just go somewhere else." I said to Jones and took a step to leave but I was stopped by James who grabbed my hand.

"Let me go." I glared, but he ignored me and faced Jones. "I will be taking her now." He said and before I knew it, he started pulling me away.

"Hey, what's wrong with you!" I yelled after him. He suddenly stopped, taking me aback.

"Just for a while." He said and continued pulling me away. This went on for a while before he finally stopped in the parking lot.

"What now?" I questioned, folding my arms.

"Why were you with him?"

"And who are you to ask me that question? My boyfriend?"

James sighed, palming his face for a second. "About the kiss, it was – "

"You don't have to explain to me, I'm not your girlfriend." I cut in and turned to go but his hands grabbed mine again.

I turned swiftly to him with an annoyed glare. "What do you want from me?!"

"It was a mistake. The kiss... she did it without my permission. I didn't even expect it and I was about to push her off when you came in."

I scoffed, and looked away.

"It's the truth, Vana. Did you think I was joking when I said I love you? I love you, and the kiss with Kyra was a mistake that should never have happened... I'm sorry."

I bit my lip, and silence set in. I took my gaze to the sky. James word seemed sincere but it didn't make it hurt less that he kissed Kyra, more like, she kissed him if I was to believe his words.

"You know what?" His voice sounded in my ears and I heard his footsteps. "Though I confessed, I never really asked you to be my girlfriend. I will do it now."

I heard him say making my body freeze. I really didn't expect this. He came to stand at my front and our eyes met.

"Vana, be my girl, huh?" He said, his words slow but firm. I said nothing, unsure of what to say, hit when I looked into his eyes. They were staring expectantly at me.

I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out, it felt like my throat at being cut off. James suddenly nodded. "It's fine if you don't want to answer now. You can call me anytime when you're ready. See you."

He turned to go, but I grabbed his hand. He turned to me with slightly raised brows. I smiled and took one step closer to him before placing my lips on his. It was brief and fast before I pulled out.

"That's my answer." I said, smiling lightly.

I watched as he blinked twice, seemingly unable to grab the situation, but in a brief of an eye, I was already in his arms, his arms wrapped around my waist a

"Not that. Is it a yes or a no?" He asked, his minty breath hitting my face softly.

"It's a yes." I replied and a smile spread across his face. His hold around my waist tightened and he slowly leaned in, capturing my lips in a swift motion. The warmth of his mouth sent sparks through my whole body. I got hold of his shirt, pulling him closer as I got lost in the taste of his soft lips.

James hands slid around my waist, pulling me impossibly closer to him. Our bodies were almost entering each other but I was too lost in the kiss to mind.

"Ohh." I moaned as his teeth grazed my lips, our tongues fighting for dominance.

I was out of breath when we broke the kiss. My eyes met with his and a blush crept to my skin. I hid my face in his chest and he chuckled, his deep voice giving off sexy vibes.

I giggled at the thought.

"We are together as of today, right?"

"I have a condition though." I spoke up and his brows inched high. "What is it?"

I smirked, wrapping my arms around his neck. "About Kyra, if she ever comes close to you again, I won't hold back... It will be brutal."

He grinned, nodding his head. "Do what you want, I don't mind."

A smile spread across my face and I nodded, pecking his lips, but he deepened it and I didn't resist. I pulled him closer, our lips fighting against each other. It didn't last though, cause my phone had to ring who the caller happened to be my uncle.

I picked hesitantly and laughter filled my ears. My eyes narrowed and I took the phone away from my ear to check if he was actually the one calling.

"Uncle Jake, are you there?" I asked, placing the phone back in my ear.

"Yeah! Where are you?"

"I'm at the parking lot, why?"

"You are here to accompany me so why are you at the parking lot?"

"I will be right there." I replied with a loud sigh and hung up. I turned to James with an apologetic look.

"I have to go, I'm actually here with my uncle and he demanding my presence."

"Oh," his expression fell and I smiled, cupping his cheeks.

"We can see each other later, huh?"

He nodded slowly and my smile widened. I pecked his cheeks, before walking away. I kept looking back, feeling reluctant to leave and only stopped when I could no longer see him.

"You're back." Jones who was now playing golf like the two men said when I got to them.

"What were you doing in the lot?" Uncle Jake asked.

"She went with her boyfriend." Jones said before I could say anything.

I blinked as the two men turned to me with surprised looks.

"You have a boyfriend?" Uncle Jake asked in utter disbelief.

I replied with a nod and he gasped. "I had no idea."

"Well, you didn't ask." I replied, taking one of the golf club to join Jones.

"Who is he?"

"His name is James." Jones replied before I could talk again and I turned to him. Our eyes locked and he raised his brows. "Is there something wrong?"

"Of course, there is." I wanted to say but I just shook my head and went back to playing.

Uncle James and his friend were still expressing their surprise but I was not listening. All my focus was on the ball. After positioning myself, I hit the ball with the golf club. The ball started to roll and I held my lips tight as I hoped for it to roll into the cup.

"You guys seem to be fighting." Just as the ball rolled into the cup, Jones spoke up, taking my attention to him instead of celebrating my win.

"What are you getting at?" I questioned with raised brows.

He chuckled, shrugging. "Nothing really, just that the air around you both earlier was weird..." He suddenly leaned in, "are you guys even dating?"

My expression changed into a frown immediately.

"Mr Jones, do you mind keeping to yourself and stop butting in my business?"

"I just – "

"I don't want to hear it." I cut in and turned to Uncle Jake.

"I would take my leave now!"

"What? It's not been long!"

"I really have to go." I replied with a smile and without glancing at Jones, I walked away.
