She’s here

“She’s here with me.”
“Is this a prank or what. Why would she be here?” He had came in a while ago, Met Dr. Green in front of his porch waiting for him. He was leading him into the house.
“Why would I do that. She’s here. I’m not joking, I thought it’s time you know, her whereabouts and if she’s ready to go with you.”
“Where is she?”
“In there.”

Dixon exhale, holding the door knob, she was in there. He wanted to go in so badly, but his feet and hands won't move an inch.
He turned to Dr green who was staring back at him.
"Let's talk for a while."

Dixon nodded, tailing behind him out of the hallway.
Taking a sit in front of Green, he rubbed his palms together, he was nervous but he doesn't know why.
"She's been in there since the very night I brought her in. She hasn't step out of that room. Her reasons was she didn't want to be a monster, a scary being or whichever. You’ll call her. And if she's gonna kill anyone it gonna be for a good reason "
He couldn’t bring himself to tell him the true reasons yet he wasn’t supposed to know, though he has every right to but he couldn’t do it so he let it slide.
To whenever he was ready,
Whenever the time was right.

“Be patient with her am sure she’s gonna tell you everything you wanna know about her. And you must have have been seeing signs. The shy type, the vulnerable one. And then the scary one, the intimidating stares. These are signs of her changing. Which of those signs do you see more?”
“The shy, innocent and vulnerable. Most time though.”

“Soon you won’t see any of those anymore. She will kill more with any sense of guilt, do you know why, that was how she was made. The pain, the bitterness, the anger she felt, for years she had been in hell, all she transferred in the humans she killed. Only you Dixon. Can bring back her humanity.”
He pulled his knees together and lean closer to Dixon.
"So you better don’t chicken out and do what you have to do, from the very first day you accepted her in, you can't just send her out. And you have to stick to her from henceforth.

I see you ain't doing well yourself”
He felt a pang of quilt on his chest, he has to tell Dixon sooner or later.
He leaned back, fixing on his glasses.
"I didn't mean..."
"Well you should fix it"
For now he’s gonna help in the little way he can.
"Doesn't she look weird to you and strange and anyone who sees her will doubt if she's human. It’s isn’t her fault everything you see happening isn’t her fault, she can’t help it.” He felt his eyes got teary.

“I feel so bad seeing her suffer so much, this shouldn’t have happened, I wish I had done something sooner, do you even know the pain she felt every night, have you even asked her why she can’t sleep at night.”
Dixon felt so bad, he didn’t know, he had been so focused on himself.
“I don’t know, I thought she sleep so well at night.”
“You don’t hear her scream.”
“Not a single sound.”

If he couldn’t hear her scream, then how did she do it? Conceal it, cry within. Or run out at night.
“You said I could help bring back her humanity, how so?”
He had noticed when he first met her in the kitchen. Looking somehow beyond strange.
"Make her look and feel human. That T-shirt she wore, when I saw her, is still the same thing she’s wearing, she refused to change it. Couldn’t believe what she told me.”
“What?” Dixon chuckle. She was still in his T-shirt.
“She loves the scent of it.”

They shared a laughed.
“Would that help, reduce the pain she felt.”
“It would..” He places his elbow on the table..”bring Maeve. Back to life. And help her fight.”

The fight with herself, the fight on the full eclipse which he couldn’t tell Dixon. Which one had to die and one had to live.

*****

The door creaks opened as he got in, she was laying on the bed with her eyes shut.
Dixon tread towards her quietly, taking a seat beside her on the bed. And stared down at her pretty face, he definitely wasn’t lying when he said she was still on his shirt. He brought his head closer to her face. Feeling so much ease he hadn’t felt in days.
And she opened her eyes, it was all black as she stare at him, shocked and dumbstruck, she wasn’t expecting to see him in here.
she sat up, and Dixon lifted his head. She closed her eyes and reopened them, giving way to her normal blue eyes. The eyes he was used to.
"Hey, how have you been?”

She parted her lips to say a word. But her stomach responded first with a growl. Just like the first time they met.
He laughed and move closer to her.
Maeve stared down at her stomach, while she chew on her lower lip.
"Hungry, I see”
Immediately the word let his lips his stomach growls as well and it was Maeve turn to laugh at him.
He chuckles.

Then smiled.
Surprisingly,
pulled her into a hug. Her body was warm against his and he tried to deny the fact that he like the way her body blend with his.
"Sorry Maeve. For everything. I have been stupid.”
“Of course”

“What, did you just say that. This is what he had been teaching you isn’t.”
She smiled. The smile that that always finds a way to his heart.
He pulled away, tucking her hair behind her ears. And slowly kissed her forehead. And hugged her again, she hugged him back, with her head on her shoulders.
"And I want to make up for it."
He pulled up her feet. With her still in his arms. With an intent of not letting go.
"Do you mind coming with me?"
