Soon
Albert watched his family as they laughed and joked with themselves, they’d never been this free with him, was he that bad of a father to them. He had thought he was doing his best for them and their future. But he ruin his family, he trusted Peru too much that he end up ruining himself and the people who truly cares about him, they were his family. No one else did, his wife and his sons.
He’s been awful, and now he’s clear off Peru control, but he had limited time to do whatever he wants to, he couldn’t change the past but could correct the present.
He wanted to love his family, but he was gonna die there was no more time for him.
This he would have done a long time ago. He won’t have sent his own son to prison just for his personal gain.
Dixon was smart and was beginning to find out who Cartel was and their relationship together. If he knew, probably the entire secret would have been out.
And everyone would know the kind of man he was, he would lose everything, his reputations and money.
But now that he’s dying, what to lose.
Nothing, expect his own life.
“I’ve been a bad father and I’ve done a lot of bad things to outsider and my family. Hurting everyone who loved me. It’s a good thing I’m dying, I deserve it.”
“You sure do.”
Linda nudged Dixon with her elbow, so he keeps his lips shut. She held Albert hands.
“Forget about what you did, we know and we can’t change the fact that you’re a bad man. But tonight. I want us to be a happy family, cause it’s my birthday and because we love you no matter what.”
Albert squeezed her hands and sobs quietly.
“Now get yourself together for the few moments we’ve got. Dixon is gonna sing for us.”
She smiles. And turned to Dixon.
“Pick up your guitar and sing.”
“I wanted to play a piano. And I didn’t bring my guitar.”
“You silly boy.”
“I wasn’t coming from home. And I forgot about it too.”
“You can sing while we clap our hands.” He gave Maeve a look.
“That could work.” Linda agreed.
“Now let’s welcome, Dixon Ambrose live on stage!” Bruce announced. Everyone clapped with a laugh. Dixon stood up and walked to the middle. Staring at everyone’s faces.
“You ain’t there to look at our faces you’re there to sing.”
“That what I’m gonna man.”
“Alright bro. We’re waiting for the song.”
“You’re annoying. Let him do his thing.”
“I’m sweet Maeve, not annoying, he’s the annoying one. You should have chosen me not him. He can’t take care of you like I do.”
“Dixon is the best.” She gave him a thump up. Dixon did same to her too.
Linda shook at head at their behavior, silly people but in love, she remembered when she used to be in love with Albert they did a lot of crazy things together.
🎼We’re a family, 🎼
🎼And we fight among ourselves each day.🎼
“But got a lot of love in us.”
“Argh! Bruce!” Everyone yelled. Cause he had ruin the song.
“I was trying to rap into it. It made sense doesn’t it. And it doesn’t matter what the people say.”
They all laughed.
Maeve watched them, with a pain in her heart, which she tried to hide each time they look her way. She was hurting so much but didn't want anyone to know.
Just five days left and she's gone forever, she won’t get to see Dixon again. Or hear his voice and be around him.
The hurt her more than anything else.
She was outside the hospital. Sitting on the bench and stare at the skies. She had left them, they need some space. As family and she wasn’t part of that family yet. Not like she would ever gonna be.
“What are you doing here all alone. It’s late.”
“I know, I like it late.”
“So you like night.”
“Yeah.” The young doctor chucked and sat down next to her on the bench.
“You ain’t scared?”
“Scared of what? Ain’t scared of anything except leaving.”
“Leaving?”
“Yes, the ones you love. Nothing hurts than that. That what I’m scared off.”
“That’s death, don’t you think.”
“Death.” She repeated.
“It’s separates you from your loved one. Leave them heart broken.”
“Who are you?”
“Sorry my manners. I’m doctor mark, actually I’m an intern.”
She nodded. He was handsome but not compared to her Dixon she hadn’t seen anyone as cute as he was. Dixon was the one. Only one. She smiled at the thought.
“Thinking of someone?”
“Yeah.”
“Who?”
“My boyfriend.” Saying those words got her smiling more. Mark feigned hurt.
“What’s wrong.”
“Just got my heat broken..”
“Your heart is broken?”
“Yeah.”
“Why?”
“Because I like you.”
“You just met me.”
“Those that really matters. I don’t really know though but I just felt a strong connection towards you. You’re someone special.”
“You won’t like me, if you got to know who I truly am.”
“Ain’t you human?”
“Am not human. I was once but not anymore.”
“You’re kidding ain’t you.”
“I’m not, so stay away from me. Else I might end up killing you. I like hunting handsome guys so be careful.” She stood up. But fell back. The pains of death was here again. She groaned. Concealing the pains. Mark held her. And he was quick to see a strand of hair turn white. Fear gripped him.
What was this?
She wasn’t serious was she?
She’s human isn’t she?
He held her tightly to himself while she cried in his arms.
“What wrong?” He panicked.
“Do you need painkillers?”
She shook her head.
“Death.” She whispered. She was sweating and her body was shuddered in his arms.
Death, she said death, she was dying, he couldn't leave her like this. Death and then pains, severe pains that a normal human can survive in. This was his chance to run before she eats him. But he couldn't instead he saw himself getting attacked to her.
“Stay here. I would get your something to relive the pain.” she help her lay on the bench and hurried back to in the hospital. To get something, she folds herself on the bench. Waiting for him.
He returned quickly with a drug and a bottled water.
“Take this, it would help.”
“What are they?”
“Pain killers.”
“What would they do, it won't help.”
“Just take them, what do you want me to do.”
“You should leave.”
“I’m not leaving you like this, though I want to because of her frightening you look. Isn't there anyone I could call. To come over and help you.”
“No one.”
“And your boyfriend.”
“He shouldn't know.”
“Isn’t that wrong he deserves to know..”
“Not yet.” she whispered. Grateful to hoodie she wore and the jeans else, her skin would have been something else now.
She took the painkillers, though it did little or no help at all.
“You’ll be fine.”
She nods. Still sweating profusely.
“I’m gonna die soon.” she whispered.
