Before eclipse
Maeve stood in front of the bungalow of Lucas, they house in which she was held bond, she was here again, and this time she had come willingly, not like she was being forced or dragged down here. She was here, for a bargain of life and death.
She opened the gate and got in, they had left it open, because they had been expecting her to come and truly she did.
She walked in, opening the aluminum door, her hands went over to her arms and she hugged herself, sheering the thoughts that was coming back to her out of her head. The hurt she felt, the tortured she had endured for years.
Taking another step, she was going towards the basement, guess that’s where they were probably hiding.
Her steps were light as she walks down to the basement, walking lightly, so she doesn’t hear a sound of her own feet.
“I’m coming, bring the injections!” Lucas voiced yelled, as he was walking down the stairs, his feet were always loud and disturbing to her but she had to endure it.
She shut her eyes.
“Don’t think of anything else, focus on yourself.” She warned, taking the last steps down.
“I see you’re here.” Anika smiled when she saw her coming.
“You made the right choice and one you ain’t gonna regret. Trust me.” She held her hands outstretched, waiting for Maeve to take them.
Standing a feet away from her, Maeve glanced around the basement, Anika was able to see the fears in her eyes.
“You don’t have much time to waste, it’s gonna happen so, you need to get rid of the demon inside of you.”
Maeve returned her gaze back to her.
“Listen to me, this is your last chance and the only option you’ve got to take. You’re already here, take my hands, it’s hurting already.”
Maeve sigh and place her hands in hers.
Anika smiled a mocking one, hideous and with a wryly look.
“You’re dead.” She whispered.
“Are you the only one in here?” Maeve asked as she was still glancing around.
“No, I had just a help from someone you would know, here, have your seat.”
Maeve sat down with her gaze on the broken chains and cracked walls, which were still stained with blood.
“Who is that?”
“Roy, I think you need to show yourself here. Someone needs to see you”
Roy, the name was familiar, but she couldn’t sure remember who that was, while she was seated she played with her fingers.
Roy came in with a plain look, he didn’t stare at her but looked over her head.
“You remember him, it’s Lucas's son, he was with us when we were family.” She didn’t fail to notice the sarcasm in her voice, nonetheless, she didn’t reply, she wanted to get through with this.
“Just be patient, we’ll start soon. We just need the sun to go down. And everything will fall in place.”
Maeve nodded.
“You need a drink?” Roy was asking, he had a lot in not to attack her, the girl he had been so much waiting for. And now she was here not leaving freely without their revenge, she was stupid coming in here.
“I don’t think I need one.”
“I thought you would be thirsty.”
“Just leave her alone Roy.”
Roy resigns, walking away from there to sit somewhere else. But keeping a close look.
Maeve remembered him, Roy, Lucas's son, that was having a maniac disorder. That was what they thought at first until he became worse, and he had to be taken to rehab.
She knew him quite well but didn’t wanna say anything about it.
No one said a word, as they all awaited dusk. But thousands of thoughts running through their head. Maeve had her thought around Dixon, she had left him, she did feel bad about it but what can she do. She had hurt him so badly, something she had never wished she could do and now this happened. It was disheartening but they had to say goodbye.
It was inevitable. Even at this moment, she wasn’t sure what’s gonna happen, if Anika would truly help her or kill her.
When it was time, Anika smirked. She had been standing behind the table, containing several mixed liquids and now she was inserting them into a syringe. Roy did nothing but glare at Maeve, he couldn’t wait for this night to be over, he was finally getting his revenge.
How silly of her to come here, walking into the lion’s den of her own will.
Anika stared at the syringe, it was ready, she just had to give her this. So she could fall asleep and weaken her, that she won’t be able to fight back for hours. While she would be unconscious, she would be working for the final stage of her death.
And then, boom!
The last stroke and she’s gone, gone!
“What’s that for?”
“It’s to prepare your body, trust me, I’m not gonna hurt you, I just want to help you, I want to correct our mistake, maybe then Lucas would be happy that you forgave him and we’ll all have peace. You’ll go back to meet Dixon and you guys would live happily ever after. Isn’t that what you wanted? Now, bring your arm. It would be quick.”
She stretched her arm giving it to her. Anika smiled.
“Good girl.”
“Just do everything you’ve got.”
“I’ll, but it’s gonna come with a massive pain.”
“I can take that.”
“Hope you told no one you were coming here.”
“I didn’t.” She replied.
Anika nodded, then slowly pierced the injection into her skin, draining it all in her. Instantly she was having the effect of it on her system.
“What’s this.” Her head was spinning in front of her, she could hardly see a thing in front of her.
“Oh, dear.” Anika caresses her hair.
“You’re gonna die soon and leave this cruel world, don’t worry, your Dixon would be right next to you.”
“What do you mean?”
“That’s he’s gonna die, right now, men are heading towards his house and you know what they’re gonna do to him. Kill him.”
“What..” She slurred, she tried standing up on her feet but she couldn’t, it felt like her head was falling, her whole body was torn apart.
“What did you do to me.”
“I told you, it’s gonna be massive.” She whispered in her ear.
“Massive baby.”
“You witch!”
Anika laughed.
