Memories
“Still ain’t gonna tell him anything.” Dr. Green said, making breakfast. He tossed the egg and flipped. Maeve was in the kitchen with him. Drinking the green tea, he had made. Her gaze was elsewhere as she kept on exhaling. While taking the tea.
“You don’t seems too good.”
He studied her. She was still brooding over something. Her hair was almost white now. Just a little remaining.
Today was the last day to him. Since it was the second day, she had to leave Dixon side before the cock crock. And then, he sighed as well.
He couldn’t find anything else other than the sacrifice of death. That was the only thing he got. And nothing else.
He moved to her side. Touching her softly, she flinched at his touch.
“What are you thinking about.”
“Don’t tell anyone, no one must know about this, especially Green.” That was her warning to her. She couldn’t say it since she so much want to be a human. And stay beside Dixon till she grows old. She wanted them to grow old together in this house.
“I’m not thinking about anything.” She sips from the tea and dropped the cup.
“It doesn’t seems like it.”
“it seems it. I don’t wanna talk about anything else please. Just let me be.”
He nods.
“I understand how you feel.”
“You don’t understand how I feel, you’ve never been in this position before, how would you know how I feel, how would you?” She yelled.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you Maeve.”
“Then don’t tell me you understand me anymore. Because you don’t.”
She jumped down from the island, walking out of the kitchen.
“Maeve..” he muttered. He turned back to what he was frying.
The egg.
It was all burnt, Maeve looked what you caused.
He hurl the eggs out of the pan into the trash can. And sighed. He had to start all over again.
“What..? Did you? Oh Green.” Eamon coughed. Entering the kitchen.
“What are you doing here, I told you to stop coming here anytime I’m preparing breakfast. You caused this!”
“What me? How, I saw you tossing it into the trash can and now you’re saying I caused it. I came to get a glass of water.”
“Get it and leave.”
“That’s what I’m gonna do. Before you blame for leaving the gas turn on with nothing in it.”
“What? Just get out. Find somewhere and stay for a long time till I’m ready to talk to you.”
“Whatever, Green.” He held the doors and halted. Then turned and back to Green.
“What?” He groaned.
“What’s wrong with alien?”
“She’s isn’t Alien, she has a name.”
“I think that name suits her. It’s her nickname anyway, I don’t see anything wrong with it, besides that’s what Dixon calls her.”
“Get out.”
“You haven’t answered my question.”
“I just did, now get out!”
“What when?”
“Get the hell out of here Eamon.”
“I said it, you both have issues.”
He opened the door and walked out of the kitchen. Leaving Green to ponder on his thoughts.
Something was fishy, he noticed. There was something about them, that doesn’t just sit right with him. What were they talking about, he was about eavesdropping when she came out of the kitchen, looking so pain stricken.
Something was wrong and he had to find out what Green and Alien are hiding.
Even if Green got to hate him because of it. He doesn’t mind, as far as he got to know what they were talking about. Something that doesn’t even Dixon doesn’t meant good to him. And he’s gonna find out. Sooner and tell him what they’ve been hiding.
“How long are you gonna keep staring at him.”
“As long as you kept you eyes shut. You look so good to look on.”
“Really, you’re flattering me ain’t you, I know am not as good looking as you’re.”
She scoot over to his side and cuddle in his arms. He was still on the bed with his morning breath.
“You okay, alien.”
“Fine. Let’s just stay like this for a while. Can you do me a favor.”
“What favor?”
“Let’s go on a date tonight.”
“Is that the favor. I was gonna say it too. I love being around you. I don’t mind if we spend every night out. That’s how much I love you.” He kissed her forehead.
“I love you so much Dixon.” This time he felt the sincerity in her voice. He cuddle her to himself. Smiling softly to himself.
“Dixon.”
“Yes babe.”
“What do you want?”
“I want you.”
“I’m here. With you. I’m always here. I’ll always be.”
She smiled. And looked down at her toe.
“Can you stop loving me. That’s my favor I gonna ask.”
He paused in his action and twirled her around to face her. Looking directly at her eyes.
“Is there’s something wrong?”
“Nothing is wrong.” She forced a smile. Which turns out to be a grimace.
“I don’t wanna die. I don’t wanna die!” She blurt out. Crying in his shirts. He was quick enough to get hold of himself, pulling her into a hug.
“You ain’t gonna die. You’re gonna die.” He ensures her. Drawing circles on her back.
“It’s okay babe.”
“I don’t wanna die.” She cried.
“You’re not gonna die, stop saying that.”
He found himself tearing up as well, watching her cry. Was so pitiable.
He pulled her off him for a moment and wiped her tears away. Though it was blood stained. He didn’t mind.
He cleans them off her face.
“You know you’re very pretty and pretty people shouldn’t cry, especially you.”
“I can’t help it. I just had to let it all out.”
“What ain’t you telling me.”
“I don’t deserve you.”
“Who told you that.”
What a good way to twitch the subject away from the main issue at hand. She hadn’t thought she was gonna blurt it all out, that she was gonna die.
It just slips out of her mouth.
“Someone doesn’t have to tell me.”
“You shouldn’t think about anything like that. We ain’t perfect. I don’t deserve you either. C’mon babe.” He pulled her in a hug again.
She sniffed. Melting in his scent.
He hugged her tightly.
Why was she acting strange.
“You wanted to come back here again, here we’re. Watching the sunset, just like our first night out.”
She nodded with a smile. She hugged her legs together, watching the sunset. With a low sigh.
He scoot closer to her, placing her head on his shoulders. And kissed her lips very lightly.
She blushed a little. And side hugged him.
“Feeling better.”
“Yeah. I’m loving this feeling.”
“Same here. I’m never getting tired of watching sunset, we used to come here sometime as family, to watch it. But that was a long time ago. Not anymore. And now you’re part of that family.”
“It’s beautiful.”
“it is..”
“I wish I could be here, till forever.”
“You’ll always be here, we could come here anytime you want to. I’ll always be here. Same with you.”
“I hope so.”
She had made up her mind already, she gonna go, meet up with Anika and got this done. She wants to be human. No matter what it takes.
He brought the guitar closer to her. Played a string. The sound she had gotten so familiar with.
She lift her head up.
“Remember the song.”
She chuckled.
“You’re so beautiful, everyone can see that.
You ain’t perfect and ain’t perfect either..” she sang out.
He smiled and kept on playing while she sang and laugh at herself. For the mistake she was making.
He dropped the guitar, and smiled at her.
“How do you feel Now?”
“Never being better.”
He pulled her closer and pecked her lips at first. She giggled like a kid.
Then he took her lips fully, kissing her, slowly and perfect, every time he kissed her, she felt it different. Different kind of kissing, and now he was kissing her like there was no other thing he had. She felt him, giving her his own. She reciprocated, though she wasn’t a good kisser but she could make him feel same. That she was giving him everything as well.
Then he knew she was ready to have him. She was ready for him to take her, to have their heart and soul in one. The look in her eyes and how she kissed him back.
