Chapter 16

[Owen POV]
I didn’t want to leave my mate, but I had gotten a message from mom saying see wanted to see me. I knew there was no way I could talk my way out of going, so I decided to leave for aa little while since Liam and Olivia were here. My mate seemed sad to hear that I had to leave but I assured her it would not be for long. Once I was back at the pack house I met my mom in my dad’s office. He was away again dealing with another possible alliance.
Mother has been handling pack matters and the appointment ceremony while he has been away, with my help of course. I am so ready to become alpha and make some changes around here. I have no idea why my father has decided to start alliance negotiations when I will take over Alpha in just two days. Part of me thinks he wants it to be the last thing he does as Alpha, and the other part of me feels like he is trying to find a way to hold on to his position. Because I can not be appointed as alpha by anyone but him, and if he does not return on time it won’t be soon.
He enjoyed the power, and I doubt he is eager to give it up.
I walk into my dad’s office to see my mother looking through some paperwork. She seemed stressed again, but as soon as she saw me a smile filled her face.
“Owen honey! Why did you not tell me you were building a house for you and your mate?” She asked.
“Because I knew you would have wanted to help, and you have enough to do.” I told her.
But really I didn’t want her to decorate the place, that was for me to do. I wanted the house to be perfect, not a extravagant mess. My mom had good intentions but was known to go a little overboard sometimes. I had known my mate long enough to notice extravagance was not her style. She was simple and basic, which I loved about her. However, there was one thing I needed help with. The construction team had rushed to complete the house and were bringing in the furniture the next day, but I wanted a little bit of a surprise for Amelia. She seemed to not have many personal items, and I have no idea what girls like or need I decided I want to ask my mother and sister to buy her some things.
“So you don’t want my help at all?” My mom said pouting.
“That’s not it mom! I wanted to do this myself, but there is something I could use help with!” I tell her.
“Really? What do you need me to do?” She asks excited.
“I want to buy a few clothes and shoe items for Amelia and stuff for the bathroom, but I honestly have no idea what she might like.” I admit.
“Ok let me get your sister in here. You know it would be easier if we actually met her!” My mom says scowling.
“I know mom, but she will be coming to the ceremony so you can meet her then. Just don’t mention anything about the house. She doesn’t know yet, ok?” I beg her.
“Ok ok!” She says throwing her hands up.
Leah soon comes in jumping on me and squeeling. Seriously how does she make those high-pitched sounds?
“Bro I can’t believe you are letting me shop for your mate! I am so excited!” She says running to stand next to our mom.
“Ok but remember, she is not like you. She likes simple things, nothing too flashy!” I remind them.
“Yes I get it!” Leah says rolling her eyes.
“I mean it Leah, I want her to have nice things but only things she would like. If you need help, Olivia can go with you as well.” I recommend.
“Sure, that’s a good idea. She knows Amelia better and will make sure we pick out the perfect stuff.” My mom replies happily.
“And don’t worry about cost, I’ll give you my card.” I say taking out my wallet and handing them a black credit card.
I never used it, but for my mate I don’t want to spare any expense. She deserves the best of everything!
“So when are you going to ask her to move in?” Leah asks.
“The doctor says she can leave tomorrow, so I will ask her today, but I am not sure if she is ready yet. If she isn’t at least the house will be ready when she is.” I say smiling but slightly disappointed.
I want my mate to stay with me, but I understand her need to be ready. She was raised by humans and has no real clue about mates and how things usually go. It doesn’t matter to me, as long as I still get to see her. Samuel has defiantly grown attached and whines often when we are away from her. Even though he is more wild and hard to control, he is gentle with her and for that I am happy. He is a strong fighter and can be ruthless sometimes, but with Amelia he is beyond gentle and she seems to love him.
No one had been able to tame Samuel like she has, and that is why she is my mate!
I send a quick message to Olivia through the mind link to ask her to join my mother and sister, which she happily agrees to. After all the arrangements are made, I leave and head back to the hospital. It is a short walk from the pack house, and I am happy to have that time to think about how I would ask Amelia to live with me. So much has happened in such a short time, and I am hoping it has made her affection for me grow. I also hoped Anaya would convince her as well, if Amelia is open to listening.
I walked up to her room with a teddy bear in hand. I looked through the door window watching her for a moment. She was looking out of the window of her room and seemed deep in thought. I didn’t want to startle her so I knocked softly. She turned to the door and I felt my heart skip a beat seeing her face looking at me, just like every time I see her. She is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. Maybe it was because of the mate bond but I could not imagine a girl prettier than her. She says I can come in, and her voice sounds so sweet and soft. I am crazy about her!
‘You are not the only one!’ Samuel says happily wagging his tail.
‘Down boy! You had your time with her, now it’s my turn.’ I say to him.
He huffs and ignores me watching our mate instead.
She is so sweet and accepts my lame gift of a bear with a huge smile. She seems to really like it, had no one ever given her a gift before? The thought makes me sad. I will shower her with gifts every day!
‘You better or I won’t let you shift for a month!’ Samuel says threatening me.
Sheesh this wolf!
I sit next to her trying to find the words to ask her to come with me to the pack house tomorrow. She looks at the bear and smiles and giggles at it.
‘Mate is so cute.’ Samuel says happily.
‘You are so whipped man.’ I tease him.
‘That’s why she likes me better!’ He retorts.
That was a low blow! She doesn’t like him more than me. Right?
She looks at me and looks like she wants to ask me something but is to scared to.
“Owen?” She says.
“Hm?” I answer.
“I was thinking…about when I get discharged tomorrow…would it be ok if I came to stay with the pack?” She asks nervously.
My eyes widen and I try to keep my mouth from dropping. I am surprised by her request, I thought it would take far more persuading and convincing to even get her to step foot in the pack community. Now she was asking if she could live there! To say I was happy is an understatement. I wanted to pull he rout of that bed and hug her and kiss her so badly.
“If not it’s ok, but I would like to if you allow it.” She says nervously.
I smiled and Samuel is jumping up and down in my mind.
“I would love for you to move to the pack community Amelia! I have been wanting you to come since I met you!” I say before I can stop myself.
She smiles brightly at me. “Really?”
“Yes! No one knows that I found my mate yet except my family, but they have been looking forward to me finding you. They are so excited to find out who their new Luna will be!” I say excited.
“That’s really sweet, I hope they like me.” She says shyly.
“They will love you as much as I do! You are going to be the best Luna to ever lead our pack, no offence to my mother.” I say laughing.
She laughs softly and I melt from the sound. Her laugh is amazing, the most wonderful sound I have ever heard! How can she be so perfect?
“So how does this work? Where would I stay?” She asks.
“Well, we have what is called a pack house, where some of the pack members live. It is a big house that has ton of rooms, and then like Liam and Olivia some live in small houses around the property.” I tell her.
Should I tell her about the house now?
“Oh ok. So where would I stay?” She asks shyly. Cute!
“It would depend on what you feel comfortable with. As mates, we would usually stay in the same room. If that is something you are not ready for, you can stay in another room.” I tell her.
Please! Goddess tell me she wants to stay with me!
“Umm…I think I would be ok staying with you. If that is ok with you.” She says fiddling with her fingers. Have I mentioned how cute she is yet? Because yeah!
“Of course! I would want nothing more than to have my beautiful mate with me!” I say trying to hold in my excitement.
She smiles back at me and I take her hand and gentle kiss it, which makes her giggle and blush. I think my new hobby is making her blush!
“So tonight I can send someone to pick up your stuff from your apartment. Ok?” I ask her.
She nods and I link with Liam to let him know. I haven’t told him yet, but I have been wanting to ask him to be my beta. I planned on asking him formally at my ceremony, and now that his sister is my mate it seems to be a good choice.
“Are you sure you are ready to live with me?” I ask her.
I ask her to be sure she is ready.
“Yeah, I don’t think I could get much sleep at my apartment alone anymore.” She says.
That surprised me.
“I haven’t slept peaceful since I first say you.” I admit to her. “It’s part of the mate bond. Being apart starts to be too hard.”
“Really? Is that healthy?” She asks.
I laugh a little, this probably had to do with some human thing.
“Unlike humans, werewolves enjoy the company of their mate and they never get tired of being together.” I assure her.
“That’s a relief.” She says with a sigh. “I…miss you a lot now when you are gone. I thought I was being too clingy, so I didn’t wat to say anything.”
“I assure you I would sound much clingier if you knew how much I miss you all the time!” I say a little embarrassed. “And Samuel sulks a lot when we are not with you.”
She laughs a little. “Aw my sweet Sammy! He is such a cuddle bear.”
I let out a hearty laugh at this. I had never heard someone describe a wolf in such a gushy way, especially an Alpha wolf. This resulted in Samuel howling with happiness and giving me a major headache. I cringe at the sound he is making and catch Amelia’s attention. She looks at me with concern.
“What’s wrong? Are you ok?” She asks reaching out to touch my forehead and check for a fever.
“I am fine. You just made Samuel go crazy and his howling is loud.” I tell her gently removing her hand and placing it on the side of my face instead.
She giggles at my actions but doesn’t pull away.
‘Let me out! I want to cuddle with mate!’ Samuel says over and over.
I swear this wolf is getting on my nerves now.
I sigh and look up at Amelia in defeat.
“Samuel wants to be with you for a while. Is that ok?” I ask her.
“Of course it is ok, but I think one day I would like to meet him in his full form.” She says smiling.
How did I get blessed with such a goddess for a mate?
“Let me say, I am sorry for how he acts. He is kind of hard to real in once he takes control.” I say apologetically.
“Don’t worry, he is always very well behaved with me.” She says proudly.
I close my eyes and release control to Samuel with a little reluctance.
“Mate.” He says before moving toward Amelia and bring her into my lap.
Damn wolf getting handsy!
Of course, my beautiful mate lets him and just giggles at the affection he shows her.
“My mate.” Samuel says softly nuzzling into her neck breathing in her sent.
She wraps her arms around my neck, and I know that this is the only place I ever want to be. Sitting with her in my arms!
