Chapter 32

My heart raced with excitement the minute I realized I was not dreaming; Owen was sitting right in front of me. I moved to hug him before the pain reminded me I was still hurt, and I let out a slight whine as my body protested against the sudden movements.
“Hey easy there, you are still healing!” He said standing and gently pushing me back.
“But how are you here? You were literally in a coma a few hours ago!” I said in disbelief.
“I am not sure; I was asleep the whole time.” He said with a smile.
“I can’t believe you are making jokes right now!” I said with a slight laugh.
“Sorry, I know it’s not the right time but it’s the truth. As soon as I woke up and they removed all the tubes and things, I wanted to see you. I didn’t care about anything else they said. The nurse told me you had been hurt and I had to see you, so after their many protests they brought me here.” He said opening his arms to show me he had been brought here in a wheelchair.
“I am fine, you should have waited for me. I was going to come see you as soon as they let me go.” I say pretending to be upset, but of course I wasn’t.
“Oh, stop acting tough, you are hurt, and you need time to heal so just relax and stop fussing.” He said scolding me.
I laughed softly at him both sounding tough and loving at the same time.

Wait, the baby….did he know?
“What did you say?” He asked with his eyes wide.
Whoops, guess not!
“Did you just say baby?” He asked with surprise.
Man, I really need to work on this whole mind link thing.
“Well….” I didn’t know how to even explain it.
“Oh my-we are going to have a pup?” He asked with the biggest and cheesiest smile I had ever seen.
I nodded instead of answering, because in truth I was still in shock about it.
He stood suddenly and wrapped me in his arms, and we both let out groans of pain before releasing each other. I guess celebrating will have to wait until we both aren’t so hurt.

“I can’t believe this! This is amazing!” He said happily, eyes filling with happy tears.
“What is more amazing is how soon the baby will be coming! Why did no one tell me how fast werewolf babies grew?” I asked crossing my arms.
He laughed.
“Yeah, but at least you won’t have to go through such a long pregnancy! I hear human woman have to suffer a lot longer, and they become miserable toward the end.” He said still smiling like crazy.
“Yeah I don’t think because my pregnancy will be shorter does it mean it will be any less uncomfortable. It just won’t be as uncomfortable for as long. It also means we have way less time to prepare everything!” I said pouting.
“I know, but this is the pup of the alpha, the whole pack is going to want to pitch in if they can! In fact I am sure while you have been busy, many of them have probably started working on some things.” He says proudly.
“How could they? I only just found out.” I say.
“Trust me by now the whole pack knows, mind link remember?” He said with a laugh.
Oh yeah, mind link. Still so weird.
The sound of the door opening draws both of our attention to the doctor walking in.
“Alpha, Luna. How are you both feeling?” He asks with a gentle smile.
“A little sore.” We said together.
We all laughed.

“Well, as surprising as it may sound, Alpha you are actually almost completely healed. You should be well enough to go home, but you still need to take things easy a day or two before getting into any fights.” The doctor teased.
“I will doctor, what about Amelia?” He asks.
“She should heal just fine, but her body is a little weak because of the early pregnancy. Since she did not know until now that she is with child, she had not been eating quite enough so she is a little malnourished. We would like to keep her one more night top just monitor the pup to make sure he is still strong.” The doctor said with a smile.

“He?” I ask him surprised.
“Oh, I am so sorry Luna that slipped out!” The doctor apologized frantically for spilling the news.
“No, no it’s ok! Oh wow, a boy!” I say with surprise turning to see Owen smiling big again.
From his face, it seemed like he was more than happy to be having a son. I was happy to, but I admit a little girl would have been nice. I guess that just means we could try for a girl later. Did I just say that?

“Yes, you did!” Owen says suddenly giving me a sly look.
“You can stay far away from me!” I say covering myself with the blanket.
The doctor laughed at our little exchange before excusing himself and leaving us alone.
“So, a boy!” I say trying to hide that slight disappointment.
In truth I was so happy, but there is always slight disappointment when you hope for something else. Yet, I felt like I already loved this baby so much, that in the end I didn’t even care, he would be all mine. Oh, and Owen’s too, but if I was about to push a werewolf baby out of my body I would split custody of him 90/10 with Owen.
Owen let out a loud laugh and I realized yet again that he could hear everything I was thinking.

So annoying.

“I am going to have to give you a quick lesson later about how to block your thoughts from me.” He said laughing and kissing the back of my hand.
Yeah yeah so funny. How about you teach me now?!
“No I thinking am going to enjoy your little mind vomits for a little longer!” He said with a cocky grin.
“Stop listening to my thoughts!” I say with a whine.
“Come on, I just woke up after not seeing you for so long. I want to enjoy this before you start blocking me out.” He says pouting.
“Fine, but I will figure it out with or without your help!” I say firmly.
“I am sure you will, now stop having a mental rant and just talk to me instead. How have you been doing without me?” he asks becoming serious.
“It’s been a lot, but I think with the extra training, the pack is feeling stronger. They seem more confident and prepared. Since we don’t really know what your father’s plan is, I thought it was best to improve their overall training and their human combat skills as well. I even asked Liam to help them with their shifting.” I tell him.
“Their shifting?” He asks.
“If they can shift between human and wolf quicker it could be helpful if they need to confuse their opponent.” I explain.
“Wow, I am impressed! What made you think of that?” He asks proudly.
“Anaya actually. I have been getting to know her more, and she was once a great warrior, and she has helped me a lot with figuring out the best way to prepare the pack.” I tell him.

“I am really glad you two seem to be mending your bond.” He says with a soft smile.
“Yeah, there was just so much distrust and confusion between us. And fear on my part. But I realized that we needed to work through all that if we were going to be ready for what we might have to face in the future. She is actually very wise when she wants to be. That is when she isn’t being a total brat!” I say with a laugh and a huff from Anaya.
Our bond had improved a lot when we finally opened up and accepted each other, instead of acting like we were just trapped together. She was strong, and I needed her even more now.
