Chapter 43

“Ok Luna, PUSH!” Natalia tells Amelia after hours of labor.

Amelia was exhausted by this point and she wanted to just rest, but this baby was ready to be born and he wasn’t waiting. Owen was flying down from Washington but there was no word yet if he had arrived. Cheveyo had left to meet him at the airport and bring him here, there was no other way for Owen to find this place. It was well hidden, and only members of the pack could find it.

“Where is Owen? Why isn’t he here?” Amelia says between the groans of pain.
“I am sure he is on his way Luna, just keep going! You are so close!” Natalia reassured her.
“You keep saying that, but it’s been hours!” Amelia yells as the urge to push again comes over her.
“I know, but your little one is being a little stubborn right now.” Natalia tries to make Amelia more comfortable.

The baby’s head had crowned, and Amelia had been pushing, but something was wrong because the baby was not moving much more. Natalia had not expressed her concern to Amelia because she wanted her to stay calm, but if the baby did not start moving more there was a big risk he would not make it. Natalia spoke calmly and tried everything she could think of to keep Amelia calm, but she was running out of ideas.

“Something is wrong! I know there is! We need to get to a hospital!” Amelia says through gritted teeth.

The pain of the baby being crowned for so long was becoming unbearable. She had never seen a baby born or given birth before, but something told her this was not good.

‘Anaya I need you to give me the strength to with stand this, I am getting so tired.’ Amelia begs her wolf for help.
‘I will try, but I can not take over while you are in labor. If you shift it would hurt the baby, so I can only help you a little. You need to use the power inside you! You have a power with in you, a power to bring peace and calm to others. You need to us it for yourself now, focus and pull that strength out from within!’ Anaya tell her.
‘Ok!’ Amelia takes a deep breath and as the next contraction came on she tried to focus deeply.

She thought back to when she emerged, the amazing power she felt. She thought back to when she was in the hut with he elder and that surge of power was released from her. If she could find a way to control her powers it would make things a lot easier. That was something she would definitely work on later, but right now she needed a quick lesson.

“Amelia.” A voice whispered softly n her mind.
“Anaya is that you?” She asks.

Her mind becomes a cloud of white and she feels a chill run through her before a form of a person emerges. The woman looks familiar, but the light around her was so bright that it was hard to see her well enough.

“What’s going on?” Amelia asks.

She had fallen deep into her own mind and found herself in an entirely different place mentally.

“Daughter, you have gone through so much and I know I have asked more than I should have from you, but I knew you were the one who could complete such a task. Your child is indeed special, and you will have to sacrifice much to be the barrier of this special creature. He is essential for the trials you will face. I chose you as the white wolf because your heart is pure and good, and you will bring peace for our kind. But your enemy has grown stronger than I had foreseen. Something has changed thee future I had once seen, and more was needed to ensure success. There is so much you still don’t know, but I can tell you that everything will become clear. Your baby is ready to welcome the world, and you are ready to show him the way! You are far more powerful than you let yourself believe; I know because you are a part of me. Stop thinking of yourself as the Amelia you once were and let your fears go. Fear is the only thing holding you back from being all I hoped you would become! Let go Amelia, just let go!” The voice faded and Amelia opened her eyes and walking through the door was her mate.

“Owen!” She says in relief.
“I am so sorry it took me so long!” he says taking a seat beside her. “Let’s meet our son, shall we?”

He smiles and it was the exact push Amelia needed. She let out a scream and the walls of the cabin began to shake, and the windows rattled as she released all the pent-up power she had been holding within her for so long. She had been so afraid of what she was capable of that she had pushed so much of her power away, but with all her focus being on pushing that she let everything else go.

“What’s going on?” Owen asks Natalia.
“I am not sure, but the baby is almost out! Amelia push again his head is almost out!” Natalia tries to say over the sound of rattling coming from all around them.
Amelia had grown silent but the room around them shook viciously. Amelia remembered what the moon goddess said, and she closed her eyes focusing all her energy on harnessing her power. As she focused on the sound of her heart beating, the rhythm grew steady and she could feel and electricity flowing through her. It felt strange, not hot but cold like a cool breeze.
“He is out!” Natalia says. “One more push Luna!”

Owen turned to Amelia and his eyes grew wide as he saw what the others had witnessed only hours ago. His mate was surrounded by a white light all around. Her eyes were pure white and with one last push a pulse was sent out through the room, but it did not push the others back like it had before. Instead everything fell silent, and a moment later a loud cry rang out.

“He’s here.” Natalia says softly holding the baby up for Amelia and Owen to see.

As if it never occurred, Amelia’s aura was gone, and she looked down at her baby boy with so much joy. Natalia quickly cuts the umbilical cord and wraps the baby in a small blanket and gentle hands him to Amelia. Owen looks down at his son with pride and places a soft kiss to Amelia’s forehead.

“He is perfect!” He says happily, earning a soft laugh from his mate.
“All parents say that!” She teases.
“Only because it’s true! You were amazing! I don’t know what happened there, but you were so amazing!” Owen tells her. “I am glad I made it in time!”
“Me too! I think he was waiting for you!” Amelia says with a sigh of relief. “Ah, wait there is something happening.”

Owen looks to Natalia.

“Is something wrong?” he asks her.
“I don’t know.” She replies.
“No, I feel something!” Amelia says with a groan. “Owen take the baby!”
Natalia checks Amelia quickly. “Oh my-Luna, I see a head!”
“What?” Amelia and Owen say together.
