Chapter 45
(Amelia POV)
After Owen and I spent a good 30 minutes cuddling our little pups and spoke softly about our hopes to take them home soon, Natalia walked in quietly. The twins had fallen a sleep and shee was careful not to wake them.
“Alpha, Luna how are you doing?” She asks.
“A lot better now!” I tell her with a tired smile.
“I bet.” She says with a soft laugh.
“We are ready to go back home.” I tell her with a smile.
“But Luna, we just got here! You have barely learned anything yet, and you just gave birth.” Natalia says with a concerned voice.
“I know, but all that doesn’t seem very important now. I want to spend what precious time I have with them at home, before the grow up. They aren’t like other pups, and we will only have a short time before this time will pass. I want to be home.” I try to explain to her.
It was true that I had not learned much about myself, at least not as much as I wished I could, but maybe this was one of those questions that didn’t need answering. My life was my own no matter who I was and why I was born. The moon goddess may have seen a need for my gift I the future, but right now we were safe, and I wanted to cherish these quiet moments. I knew soon our whole world would be turned upside down, but there was nothing more to be don with the little we knew. The future was always changing with every choice we made, so in that way the future was still unwritten.
Any of our choices now could shift our fate. Knowing everything only meant we may try to fix something that was not set. Knowing everything could be more dangerous than not having all the answers. Maybe knowing too much about what I was meant to do in the future would cause me to change things and tilt the laws of fate and bring disaster.
“You are wise Luna, and you have learned your lesson well. Your thoughts are clearer than they were when you first arrived here.” Cha’tima the elder said as he entered.
“My thoughts? You could hear them?” I asked surprised.
“Yet another of my gifts Luna, but I do not use it often and I do not tell many people about it. It is useful at times, but it can cause people to feel less trusting. You are wise for someone so young, and I am sorry you did not find all the answers you seeked when you came here. Your thoughts are correct though, knowledge does not bring peace of mind when the world around us is constantly shifting the hands of fate. Knowing your role in the future would only make you wish to change what must happen. There must be unrest if we are to find peace. There must be struggle if we are to learn how strong we really are. You must find your own way, and with each struggle you overcome the closer to the answers you will become. The truth you wish to find is within you, there is no one path to walk to find out who you are meant to become, there are many. Which ever path you choose will break a thread of fate and bring you closer to your true path. Keep searching within and you are sure to find who were destined to be.” He says with a nod of his head.
“That was deep. Who are you?” Owen said suddenly, making the rest of us in the room laugh.
“Sorry, Owen this is the tribe elder.” I tell him.
“Oh I see. Thank you for your help elder.” Owen said bowing his head to him.
“It was an honor to meet a white wolf in my lifetime.” The elder said with a faint smile on his serious and wise face.
“Luna, you have only just had the pups, we should stay at least until morning before we travel back home..” Natalia suggests.
“No.” I say looking at her with a sypothetic smile. “You are not going with us.”
Her eyes grow wide with panic. “Did I do something wrong Luna? I am sorry, please don’t send me away.” She begs.
“No, Natalia you are not coming because you belong here. This is your real home. Your mate is here, and you two should be together. You have done what you were sent to do, stay here and live your life.” I tell her.
“Luna, are you sure?” She asks trying to mask her excitement.
“Yes, there is nothing left for you to do for our pack! So I am telling you to stay, ok?” I say trying to sound firm but playful.
“Thank you!” She says softly. “But will you still stay until morning, Alo and I will take you to the airport.”
“Ok, we will stay until morning.” Owen cut in. “You could use some sleep.”
He brushed a strand of hair from my face and gave me a crooked weak smirk that worked on me very time.
“Ok, we will stay. Thank you for hosting us.” I say looking to the Elder as well.
“I will ask for some food to be brought.” Natalia says leaving the room quickly.
The elder stood and bowed to us and followed her out. One of the twins begins to stir and let out a small cry and Owen stiffened slightly.
“Have you ever held a baby before?” I ask him teasingly.
“Not often no. More like once.” He edmits giving me sad puppy eyes.
“Here take her.” I tell him.
He stands and awkwardly kneels beside me twisting in a way to hand me our son and take our still sleeping daughter instead.
“Have you held a baby before?” he asks me.
“I did some babysitting jobs to help pay for school supplies.” I told him. “So I have some experience, which will definitely come in handy!”
He lets out a scoff and grunt followed by a sneer. “You don’t need to brag.”
I smiled proudly and stood up rocking our small daughter in his arms.
“I think we should name them now!” he says turning to me again.
“I guess so.” I laughed a little, I guess I was too distracted to think of that. “What do you think of Eliza?”
He thought for a moment. “Eliza Marie Rivers, I think that sounds perfect!”
“It does! Ok, what about this little boy?” I look down at my son who is feeding happily with his sweet face looking absolutely content.
“How about Liam?” Owen asks.
“You want to name him after my brother?” I ask giving him a disgusted look.
He tires to hold back his laughter so as not wake Eliza. .
“I guess not, that would definitely go to his head.” Owen said with a smile.
“What about Ethan? Ethan Grey.” I suggest.
“Perfect!” Owen agrees happily. “He fell back to sleep?”
“Yeah he is full and happy now.” I say with a smile as I look down at my very cute baby boy.
He had very light brown hair that looked like it would either become dark blond or light brown eventually. Our daughter had a golden-brown tone to her hair, I knew he would grow to be absolutely stunning! We had noticed earlier that their eyes were definitely unique, and I could only assume it was because they were part white wolf. Though I did not have the same eye color, so I was not sure if that was the case. I thought it a little deeper, could have something to do with what their powers are?
“Amelia? Are you ok?” Owen asks me suddenly.
“Yeah why?” I ask him with a confused look.
“Your eyes.” He said coming closer to me.
“What’s wrong with them?” I ask him.
He looks at my eyes and gave a startled expression suddenly.
“huh.” He said.
“What?” I ask again.
“They turned white and then changed back. What were you thinking of?” He asks.
“Nothing, I was just wondering if the baby’s eye color has something to do with what powers they might have.” I replied.
“Your eyes turned white before too. Did you feel anything else?” He asks taking his seat beside me.
“Not really, I felt fine. Really calm actually.” I tell him.
“When you use your power, what happens? I saw it earlier, is it always like that?” He asks.
“I have only seen my own powers since I came here and when I emerged. My power was amplified that they even saw its power here according to what they said.” I had not really thought much about that day until recently.
When my powers emerged, I felt like electricity was all around me and flowing within me. It was obvious something was happening. Earlier I had a similar feeling but less intense, and less intense than when the elder had touched my stomach. Just now though I didn’t feel that same feeling, but my eyes changed Owen said. In that moment I felt calm, even though I was thinking deeply.
“We will have to find a way for you to train how to use your powers soon.” Owen suggests.
“I know, but first I need to figure out what exactly they are.” I say.
“It seems to be some sort of energy pulse, but you said it was stronger when the elder had touched you?” Owen seemed to be trying to find some sort of trigger.
“Yeah, it threw three people across the room. I thought it was thee baby trying to protect me.” I tried to remember exactly what happened, but it had all happened so fast and I was so confused that it was kind of a blur now.
“Maybe the baby just amplified your power at that moment.” Owen suggested.
“But how? How would he even know to do that?” I ask him.
“Instincts maybe? He is young, and young pups rely a lot on instinct. They have to be taught to seem more human as they grow. Their wolf doesn’t usually break through until they are much older, but our pups are not like other. Their wolves may already be broken free and caused the baby to feel the need to protect you. He is also an alpha, and that need to protect is an alpha quality.” Owen theorizes.
It sounded a little crazy. I mean our son was just a baby! It seemed impossible that his wolf could be awakened yet, right? Although it would explain things like Owen suggested.
“Amelia, it’s happening again.” Owen says suddenly.
“What?” I ask being pulled out of my thought once again.
“Your eyes.” He says in a whispered tone.
This time he took out his phone and switched on the front facing camera so I could see for myself. When I saw my reflection on the screen I couldn’t help the gasp that left my mouth. He was right, my eyes had turned white, but I could see everything as clear as before.
“Why is it not changing back?” I ask feeling myself panicking.
“I don’t know.” Owen said sounding as anxious as me.
The sound of our panicking wakes the babies and they begin to cry which only makes me feel more scared. If I was losing control, I could hurt them.
“Owen take the baby! Get out of here!” I yell at him.
He scrambles to his feet and grabs Ethan from my arms. He steps away from me, but he stops and turns to me.
“Now Owen!” I yell.
He turns and takes the babies away, and I stop holding back. I look down at my hands to see that same aura surrounding them and I look down at the rest of my body to see that I am completely surrounded by it. My heart begins to race, and my breaths get quick and frantic. I was losing control somehow, and I didn’t know why. I felt the electricity pulsing through me again and a bright light begins to fill the room around me. Everything was suddenly silent and all I could hear was the sound of my own breathing.
‘Let go.’
Who is that?
'Amelia let go.'
