Envy
''What's the relationship with your foster sister like? Were you ever in good terms, or did you always humuiliate her?'' Lucas wanted to know.
''You look like you humiliated her anyways. You look mean.'' Lucas and Cobstance had only started dating for less than a week but he could tell that Constance was on the mean side much more than she was ever on the nice side.
Constance smiled sheepishly.
''What did you expect? That I will be out on the same level with a girl that was merely picked up from a homeless company? At least, I never went above and beyond to be wicked to her but I can assure you that she was not treated like a daughter of my parents. Taking her away from the orphanage in the first place was enough to show her a better life, so what more did she want? Anyway, she never requested for anything, and I must confess, she did all the work she was always given diligently.''
Lucas shook his head.
''You see why it is good to be nice to people. You just never know the position they will be in tomorrow. Now you don't have access to the Princess in Magus, the one who lived with you for eighteen years, right?'' Lucas mentioned.
His mind immediately flashed back to Sent and the fact that Sent tried to stop the union from happening. When the union still took place, Lucas shook his heard knowing that Sent had failed in her mission. Well, he stayed away from the situation so that he didn't get roped in, but now that yet another woman who supposedly bore a grudge against the Usylon Princess had come his way, he was beginning to think that maybe he had a role to play in bringing the Vandersar Princes along with their fated wife down.
''She doesn't deserve it. She ran away from home after she was caught for stealing. I don't know how she ended up here but I heard that she might be the fake Usylon, and I hope that the rumours are true.'' A spiteful Constance was jealous of Margaret for the first time in her life as she was used to always getting things better than Margaret.
Lucas chuckled.
''I think you should bank on something else if you want to bear a grudge against the new Princess.'' Constance frowned deeply at the fact that Margaret, someone who lived with her as a baby and was looked down on was now referred to as the Princess in Magus.
It was unbelievable.
''How do you mean?'' Constance asked.
''What I mean is, if she was truly a fake Usylon, the Princes would have known by now and done something about it. The fact that the rumours that she might be fake is ongoing, and there has been no response from the Princes especially negatively, is enough to tell us what we need to know. The girl is an Usylon, and we all have to deal with the fact.''
Constance frowned.
''Have you been paid by the Princes to spread contrary views to the rumour?''
''The Princes?'' Lucas scoffed.
''Well, no. I have never even met them in as much as I have lived in Magus all my life. It's just common sense to know that if indeed she was a fake Usylon, then she would have been detected as a con by now. Yet she basks stronger in the Vandersar palace with her new... husbands.'' Lucas smiled as he saw the look on Constance' face.
''I wonder what it would feel like to have three handsome men as your husbands at the same time. Margaret is living such a good life. I wish I were in her shoes.'' Constance rolled her eyes.
''All you had to do was be kind. You had your chance, but you missed it.'' Lucas leaned into Constance and kissed her.
''You are lucky to have me. I am the most handsome man in Magus. You can only count the Princes before me because of their status and that is all. Their looks can't be compared to mine, so I don't think you should consider it a loss that you are not in Margaret's shoes.'' Lucas licked Constance' cheeks.
Constance blushed innocently.
''I know someone whom you might like to meet. Someone who is also jealous of the new Princess...'' Lucas suddenly pulled away from Constance and said.
''I am not jealous of Margaret. I am just saying that she is ungrateful. After living with us throughout her life and after depending on us, she left without saying goodbye, and blocked all access to her.'' Constance rolled her eyes.
''Well, whatever grudge you have against the Princess is your problem to detail. All I am saying is that I know someone who is as upset about the new Princess as you are. Her name is Sent.'' Lucas looked at Constance, wondering whether she knew who bore the name, Sent.
''Right now she is even in the Vandersar Palace.'' Lucas had no idea what had happened to Sent. He didn't even know that the Prince Of Persia had visited Magus recently as he was away, deep in the woods, gathering different herbs. That was Lucas' line of work. He was the most skilled herbal practitioner in Magus, and because of his skill and the fact that he wanted to protect his knowledge, he never hired a helping hand in his business, instead he did all the work by himself, including the dirty one which consisted of him going to get herbs from the forest all by himself.
The name Sent, rang a bell in the mind of Constance. She squinted, as she tried to figure out where she had heard of that name before.
''Sent... Sent. Why does that name strike a bell so heavily in my mind? I know I have come across that name before. Is the person popular?'' Constance wondered out loud.
''Sent is the future Queen of Persia. The one behind nearly every massacre that has happened in the eight kingdoms throughout Prince Bane's reign.'' Lucas decided to pull Constnace out of her confusion and unclarity.
