Isabella's POV
Suddenly someone surprised me from behind by patting my shoulder. It immediately made me very surprised. I turned my head to make sure that it wasn't a bad person who was behind me right now. After feeling clear that he was Lucas, I started to turn my body to face him.
"Hey, where have you been?"
"Hmm, I thought who you were. You just surprised me. I've been delivering food containers there. Where have you been?"
"I have prepared the text material for my speech tonight. Because many high-ranking officials are present."
I swallowed my saliva again. Starting to remember the presence of the high-ranking officials that I had seen there. I started to calm myself down again even though it was difficult to lie to myself.
"Let's eat there!" While holding my hand and leading him casually.
I had difficulty refusing him because he had already pulled me by the hand. So I couldn't move anything. However, because my mind started to get scared throughout the journey while walking, I started looking for ideas that were logical to Lucas. Yes, I just pretended to have to go and wanted to find a toilet.
"Um Lucas, sorry I can't come with you now."
"Huh, why?"
"I have a stomachache and want to go to the bathroom to poop first."
"Um okay, do you want me to take you and wait until you finish pooping?"
"Huh? Oh no! No! No need, you go first! I'll catch up later."
"Seriously?"
"Yes seriously, you go first! You're an important person at the event. Your presence must have been awaited and waited for by many wolves there."
"Um, okay then, be careful, Isabella! When you're done, you can go there immediately and join in, don't be shy."
"Yes okay, let's go quickly!"
He started to leave and I started looking for a hiding place. I worried that he would introduce me in front of many people, especially in front of the higher-ups. Crazy, I could be very embarrassed later and it could cause new conflicts. Especially if Ethan, my husband, can't control himself from venting his emotions because he's jealous. Because it's certain that Lucas will be excessive towards me later. So I better avoid that.
After I found a suitable place for me to hide. I started thinking about how I could get answers immediately without having to spend a long time here with Lucas. I was really worried that something bad would happen if I was with him for too long.
Suddenly I felt sleepy after almost daydreaming about something that hadn't happened at all. I almost lost control, and luckily, I woke up. I saw that it was already dark, meaning that I had been sleeping just to wait for them to finish eating dinner. I wouldn't want to do this if it had nothing to do with the continuation of my household with Ethan.
A moment after I realized that the day had turned into night. So I started to get out of my hiding place and look for a source of water to wash my face so that I wouldn't look tired. After finding water and washing my face. I immediately went out to the field area to find out whether the bonfire event had started or not. I saw that the surrounding area was starting to get busy. Turns out it was just preparation. I'm standing here and I don't recognize anyone. It's like an empty person who has lost his way. I looked right and left but I didn't see anyone I recognized here.
Suddenly I was grabbed from behind. My mouth was covered by a hand which I felt was the structure of a man's hand. I was wide-eyed and shocked, it was difficult to make a sound, let alone scream. I was dragged behind somewhere. Now I am in a place that is quite quiet from the crowds. Although there you could still see people starting to crowd around the wood that was going to be burned into a bonfire.
A moment later, the hand grip was released, and I immediately turned my body backward.
"Hush, who do I think it is? Is this really you?"
"Of course, it's me, your husband Ethan Blackwood. Eh, hush!" He put his index finger between his lips.
We started whispering so that no one could hear our voices. And so that no one could find us here. Ethan pulled my hand to sit with him.
"Sit down!"
I sat down with him too. We hid behind a pile of wooden boxes. Behind this, about ten meters ahead, many wolves were celebrating a bonfire.
Ethan and I peeked from here and we joked around like a married couple. Suddenly when we looked towards the field area where there was a bonfire. We saw Lucas walking back and forth as if looking for someone. Was he looking for me? Emm maybe it could be.
We even laughed a little laughing at Lucas who looked confused looking for me. Ethan and I were here with a feeling of anxiety actually. Because we were not as free as usual. Worried that Lucas would find us here. Until the bonfire was almost over. Only then did Ethan let me go and told me to go back to the base camp.
"Go and rest! Go to your base camp!"
"Okay, I'll do it."
I left Ethan with a heavy heart. I rushed to the base camp so I wouldn't meet Lucas. I was too lazy to spend the rest of the night chatting with him. I half ran but sneaked so I could get to the base camp quickly.
I thought tonight would be a very scary night. It turned out not to be, my bad thoughts didn't happen tonight. Luckily Ethan immediately saved me. If not, Lucas might embarrass me again. By showing me off in public as if I was an important part of his life. Or to be blunt, he would introduce me as his partner. No! I don't like that. But that bad thing didn't happen at all. Because my husband was quick to read the situation that could happen.
If only he hadn't saved me immediately. So I already felt that tonight was my unlucky night. That was for sure and I couldn't deny that tonight would leave me with an unpleasant and annoying feeling. When I arrived at the base camp, I started to feel relieved. Because male wolves couldn't possibly enter this place. Even alpha or beta. Because this place is only for women. I also felt safe here.
