Chapter 68
Isabella’s POV
Ethan immediately stood up, and I could see the change in him—a determination and courage flowing through him. “Let’s get this over with,” he replied, and without wasting any time, he said goodbye to me.
I couldn’t help but feel anxious and scared as I watched him prepare to face a dangerous situation. “You have to come back, Ethan!” I cried, my voice shaking slightly, trying to convey all my fears.
“Sure,” he answered simply, but I could hear the hesitation behind his words. His face was full of determination, but inside, I felt uneasy.
Ethan walked towards the door, and as he walked out, I felt a mixture of wanting to support him and fear of what was to come. “I’ll wait for you, Ethan,” I said softly, as if hoping my words would reach his ears outside.
After he left, the house felt very quiet. Worry began to grip me, and I felt like time was ticking slower. I tried to distract myself, but every sound from outside seemed to bring more tension.
I walked to the window, looking out in hopes of seeing his figure return safely. In this uncertainty, I missed him more than ever, hoping that Ethan would be able to face whatever challenges came his way safely.
Every second that passed felt like an eternity. My heart was filled with hopes and prayers that were uttered in my heart; all pointing to Ethan’s return. During the time he spent outside, I remembered all the beautiful memories we had together, trying to strengthen myself, even though my anxiety kept me from calming down.
“I believe in you, Ethan. Come back safely…” I whispered to myself, while waiting inside the house, creating hope in my heart, that this mobilization money would end soon and he would return to me in a good way.
Because I could no longer calm down after Ethan left, I decided to go after him. This feeling of anxiety and fear made me think that I couldn’t just wait at home. No matter how dangerous it was, I felt the need to be by his side.
As I hurried down the road to the battle site, I suddenly met Mia. She looked confused seeing me rushing.
“Where are you going, Isabella?” Mia asked, her eyes full of concern.
“I’m going after Ethan,” I answered firmly, even though my heart was shaking with anxiety.
“Don’t, it’s dangerous! Lucas said, this is a bloodbath,” Mia warned, her voice full of concern.
Hearing those words made me even more anxious. Ethan lied to me, saying that this was just a small matter when in fact the situation was very high risk. It made me feel hurt, and I couldn’t just stand around and wait.
“I have to follow and join this war, even though you forbid me,” I said, confirming a decision that I already thought was firm.
Mia looked at me with a mixed expression. “Isabella, are you really sure? This isn’t a game, it could be very dangerous. And if something happens to you—”
“I don’t care!” I said, trying to control my emotions. “I can’t let Ethan face all this alone. I have to be with him!”
Mia looked at me seriously, as if struggling between wanting to support me and protect me. “Okay, if that’s what you want, I can’t stop you. But at least let me accompany you. We can be stronger together.”
My heart fluttered at her offer. Even though I knew this would be dangerous, I felt empowered by her presence. “Okay, thank you, Mia. I need your support,” I said, feeling a little calmer by the decision.
I forgot that Mia was pregnant. But she said she wanted to continue our journey. I couldn’t stop her either.
The two of us then continued our journey to the place where the battle was taking place. Along the way, I tried to strengthen myself to be firm. Fear and worry remained, but I knew that with Mia by my side, at least I wouldn't be alone in facing whatever happened.
The mixed feelings about what lay ahead made me determined to be ready for battle, no matter the consequences. I knew that fate and love required us to stand together no matter what.
When I arrived at the designated spot, the scene before my eyes was horrifying. The werewolves were fighting fiercely, the sounds of roars and friction echoing in the air. My heart trembled as I saw how the wolves of our pack struggled and fought against their enemies. Amidst the chaos, I finally saw Ethan struggling against several enemies.
“Ethan!” I shouted, trying to overcome my fear and rush towards him.
When Ethan saw me, his face immediately turned full of worry. “Get out of here, Isabella!” he shouted, his eyes showing that he wanted me to get away from this dangerous place.
“No, I’m coming with you!” I replied firmly, feeling like I had no choice but to stand beside him. When I saw everything that was happening, I knew I couldn’t stay still.
Without hesitation, I stepped forward and stood beside Ethan, determined to fight. I felt adrenaline pumping through me—this was the moment I had to summon all my courage and strength. I would not be a burden, and I would fight to protect the people I loved.
Facing the approaching enemy, I tried to focus. There were many things I had to do and quick reactions were required. I saw one enemy approaching me—without thinking, I focused all my energy and tried to deal with the threat.
With all my strength and confidence, I moved swiftly, trying to attack as many enemies as I could. Even though I did not have the combat experience of the other wolves, I was determined to do my best for Ethan and our pack.
“Isabella, be careful!” Ethan shouted, but I could not back down now. Fear had to be put aside. This was the time to stand firm, and I would not back down.
