Chapter 56

Ethan's POV
He nodded, taking a deep breath. "I know. Maybe this is a way for me to find a new path, even if it's hard to digest. Thank you for showing me," he said, his voice full of gratitude.
Now, we are walking together again, looking towards an unpredictable future. Love is not renewed in our lives, but hope and the fitness to support each other are the most valuable lessons we can learn at this time.
When I arrived home, I found Isabella sewing up a torn dress. "What are you doing?" I asked, pretending not to know.
“Sewing your clothes,” she answered, but her face looked a little gloomy as if she was carrying a burden in her heart.
I felt something was wrong. “What’s wrong with you?” I asked, trying to find out what was bothering her.
“Hm, we’ve been married for a long time, but we haven’t been blessed with children,” she answered in a tone full of desire and vulnerability.
Hearing her statement, my mind immediately drifted to the same theme. Indeed, we were married, but I didn’t want to push the idea of children too far. For me, marriage means living with the woman I love, and if a child is born, that’s a bonus.
I tried to reassure Isabella. “Isabella, I love you and I want to spend my life with you. If we are blessed with children, it would certainly be a beautiful thing, but we don’t need to rush. We can still enjoy the time we have together,” I said, hoping to give her some peace of mind.
However, Isabella seemed unsatisfied with my answer. “I know, Ethan. But I really want to be a mother. Maybe this has been my dream for a long time. Every time I see children around, my heart flutters,” she said, her voice full of hope and sadness.
Seeing how sincere her desire was touched me. “I understand, honey. But we also have to think about how ready we are. Let’s go through each stage of our lives and see what comes next,” I encouraged, trying to make him understand.
She nodded, but there was still doubt in her eyes. “But I feel like time is running out, and I don’t want to miss that opportunity,” she replied softly.
I took a more positive narrative. “Everything will come in time, Isabella. Prepare better and live our days with love. We have plenty of time to explore what we want in life, including thinking about children.”
In my heart, I definitely wanted to have children with her one day, but I didn’t want to put unnecessary pressure on our relationship. We were still in the process of building a life together, supporting each other, and making each other happy.
I then approached her and embraced her in a warm hug. “Don’t worry, we will get through this together. The most important thing is that we love each other and support each other every step of the way,” I said softly.
Isabella responded to my hug, and I could feel the tension inside her begin to ease. Hopefully, with time, we could find our way to our dreams, together every step of the way. We could focus on the journey, not just the destination.
I told Isabella about what I went through today with Lucas. “Oh yeah? Maybe that woman is Lucas’ mate,” she said, sounding curious.
“I thought so too. But if so, I actually feel sorry for that woman, because Lucas seems to only be thinking about Elara, not that woman,” I replied, pouring out my heart.
Isabella nodded, understanding my concerns. “That’s right, Ethan. Love is complicated. When someone is trapped in memories of love that cannot be forgotten, it is very painful. It’s also self-pity if you want to start a new love but are still haunted by the shadow of past love.”
Her words made me reflect deeper on love and relationships. Of course, it was understandable that Lucas felt the loss of Elara and found it difficult to move forward. However, I could also feel the potential suffering for a woman who was like Elara, if she was just a substitute, and not true love.
“Love can indeed be something beautiful, but it can also be an unexpected burden. Lucas needs time to find his own path, and if he continues to be trapped in Elara’s memories, he may never be able to fully love another person,” I said, sharing my thoughts.
Isabella sighed, her face showing sadness for Lucas’ situation. “And we can’t let the past rule our lives either, can we? We’ve experienced it ourselves. We have to move on with our lives and support each other,” she added, looking at me softly.
“That’s right. We can’t let the shadows of the past destroy our dreams for the future. Everyone deserves true love without shadows haunting them,” I replied, trying to be optimistic.
We discussed more about love, loss, and hope. As time passed, we began to formulate a plan to support Lucas on his journey while also creating a stronger bond in our own relationship.
Finally, after some deep talk, I felt that even though love is complicated and full of challenges, we have the strength to support each other and build a better future. In Isabella’s arms, the love and warmth reminded me of how precious our relationship was, and that we were both ready to face any challenges that came our way.
Tonight, I felt a deep longing for Isabella. I knew that we had both been waiting for this moment for a long time, and I wanted to make it special—after all, this was our attempt to welcome the possibility of having a child.
After placing a soft kiss on her forehead, I slowly lowered my lips to hers. “Ahh,” Isabella breathed, her soft voice making me even more excited. Warmth flooded my body, and I felt a strong vibration between us. We explored each other in our embrace, feeling every heartbeat beating in sync.
