Chapter 39
Ethan's POV
Almost late at night, I thought a lot about today. Now I woke up earlier than the others in this basecamp. Of course, Isabella hadn't woken up, and without thinking, I immediately left this base camp. Before they finally started waking up one by one and found me here in a state like this. When I woke up I had difficulty controlling my disguise. So if they wake up now then my disguise could be found out by the women here. That's dangerous and will hinder my next activities.
For that, I immediately decided to leave here right now. Without saying goodbye to my wife Isabella. It's okay, the most important thing is that she will be fine here. I even gave her full trust. That she is a good woman and a loyal wife. It's impossible to play crazy with anyone with any man, especially with my brother Lucas. Isabella is quite committed and consistent with her decision. She can't possibly cheat and betray me.
Even though I'm not near her. I started to strengthen my heart. I immediately left her and left this base camp. Walking towards the men's base camp to bring my belongings and meet Kurt. I walked in the cold and still rather dark atmosphere. My face was swept, and my body was hit by the wind, which was still very strong.
Whoosh.
I almost got something in my eyes. I immediately quickened my pace and arrived in front of the base camp. Good, there were no signs of anyone waking up yet. I entered the base camp and started looking for Kurt's whereabouts and position. Finally, I found him and immediately woke him up to go on the journey.
"Hey, Kurt... Kurt... Wake up! Kurt..." I woke him up in a voice that was not too loud because I was worried about disturbing the others and waking them up. So I half whispered. I tried to wake Kurt up once again. It seemed that Kurt was sleeping very soundly. It was natural that he slept too late last night because he had watched the event and also took part in cleaning up the remains of last night's event. But I needed him to wake up right now.
Anyway, he had to wake up and start getting ready to leave with me. If he didn't wake up then I would most likely go alone. It didn't matter if I had to be alone too. Obviously, I will not give up my intention and plan to start the journey today.
"Kurt.. come on wake up! Hust... Kurt... Wake up come on!"
"Emm." He even squirmed not wanting his sleep to be disturbed.
"Kurt... Let's go on a journey!"
"Oh, I'm so sleepy.." he managed to reply with his eyes half-closed. Although there was a momentary pause with him going back to sleep and snoring, Kurt suddenly jumped and immediately woke up from his sleep. He immediately changed position to sitting up at once.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot." While slapping his own forehead. Then they turned to me, who was now beside him.
"Oh Alpha, I'm sorry, I was too sound asleep."
"Forget it, are you coming or not?" While waving my own hand.
"Yes, I'll definitely come.”
"Alright, let's get out of the base camp and the Shadow Fang Pack area. Where are our belongings?"
"Over there." While pointing with his finger and his eyes.
I looked at our belongings.
"Alright, get them, let's go!"
Kurt immediately did so, and we started walking out of the base camp. We were almost caught; outside, there was Lucas, who had just arrived and was about to enter the base camp. We immediately looked for a hiding place to avoid meeting him. I saw Lucas's face and looked tired. It seemed like he had stayed up all night. He stayed up all night. After all, he was looking for and thinking about Isabella's whereabouts or because of the responsibility for this event because he was acting as a beta now. Hmm....
After Lucas entered the base camp for quite a while. Kurt and I came back out of hiding and immediately continued our journey to leave the gate of this area.
Finally, we were outside the Shadow Fang Pack area. Starting to sigh and look at the road we would be taking now. Looking straight ahead and still standing here.
"Alpha, are you sure you want to continue your journey?" Kurt asked with a feeling that seemed very hesitant to start this journey.
I turned to him.
"Why? Are you hesitant?"
He was silent for a moment and seemed confused about his current position. Retreating was wrong for him and advancing also scared him. But he cut through his fear because he respected me as the alpha.
"No, not at all. Let's continue our journey, alpha!"
We started to walk and climb towards Bessara Hill. The wind was blowing hard even though it was almost morning and the sunrise was starting to appear there. Even the shadow of this hill was starting to be visible below. We had walked quite far after spending about an hour climbing. The road to the top was not too wild and not too clean either. Still wild but not too messy and still clean from undergrowth.
So our journey did not have too many obstacles on the path we passed.
I began to believe that soon Kurt and I would reach the top of Bessara right when the sun was at its tenth. We continued walking without stopping and did not take time to rest at all. Because this is an important and time-consuming journey.
To be more efficient and not take much time. Because my mind is still focused on my promise to my wife Isabella. I don't want to make her anxious and disappointed because I'm on the journey for too long. For that, I keep walking until I'm really sore and need a rest. I also see that Kurt is strong and tough enough to do this journey. So I don't feel worried if I have to keep walking without stopping.
"Finally we've reached the top of Bessara Hill," I said while stopping the journey and wanting to rest for a moment because I was thirsty and a little sore.
"Yes, finally." Kurt took a deep breath.
"Let's take a break!" I said to Kurt.
"Okay, Alpha."
We started to unpack our drink containers and drank a lot.
"Kurt, don't drink too much!"
"Why, Alpha? I'm really thirsty."
"We'll continue the journey, if you drink too much, you won't be able to last the journey. Your feet could even get sore because the water will drip down to the soles of your feet."
"Oh, is that so." He started to stop drinking and put his drink container back.
We started to feel comfortable with this break time. It almost made my eyes close because I was so busy leaning on the big rooted branch.
