Chapter 11

Ryker didn’t even bother to wait for Cassie’s response and he walked away. Cassie pointed at Ryker and asked Daniel. “What was that?”

Daniel formed a tight line on his lips. "I told you Ryker won't be a problem anymore because he has been changed a lot after the suspension."

Cassie inquired. "Is this his first suspension?"
Daniel reacted. "It could have been his umpteenth suspension if you were with us in these two years."

Cassie inquired. "Why was he never suspended?" And don't tell me he never went over the limit because I'm not going to believe it."

Daniel lifted his brows, "Because no one ever dared to respond to him over his pranks or bully."

Cassie pulled up the neckline of her top like a pride kind of gesture. “Now I started to feel a little bit good.”

Daniel took her to his room and they sat on a couch. “Now tell how are you feeling?”

Cassie sighed. “Terrible, rejected, unworthy, and unwanted.”

Daniel raised his hands in the air. “Cassie, you are a wonderful girl and you should not feel bad about yourself just because some jerk doesn’t know you.”

Cassie whined. “But why he doesn’t date?”

Daniel pointed a finger at her. “Don’t you cry for her because I have seen many girls crying for him in these two years and he cared a damn.”

Cassie is in low pitch. “But why he doesn’t date?”

Daniel raised his brows. “I don’t know Cassie I warned you on your first day that Elite’s every girl dream is to date, Steven…”

Cassie interrupted. “Then why did he make out with me?”

Daniel swatted her hand. “Refrain from telling me your sex life shenanigans please.”

Cassie grunted. “This is the problem, I don’t have any sex life.”

Both of their phones buzzed and it was alert to an upcoming debate about Romeo and Juliet. Cassie stood up because instead of her miserable love life she couldn’t afford to fall behind Peter. “Okay, I gotta go.”

Daniel asked. “Why in such a hurry it's just a debate?”

Cassie in her competitive tone. “I can’t let Peter Woods win.”

Daniel told her. “Peter is getting on your nerves.”

Cassie picked up her bag. “He is not on my nerves I hate his arrogance and I just want to crush that.”

Daniel stood up. “I’ll drop you.”

Upon arriving home, Cassie informed her mother about the upcoming debate regarding Romeo and Juliet and also mentioned how excited she was about crushing Peter’s ego. Ruth laughed, wished her luck, and began serving dinner. After dinner, Cassie ran to her room, opened her laptop, and started making so many notes that she forgot how much time had passed. When she noticed a sudden, intense back pain, she looked at the time and saw that it was 3:30 a.m. She rested her head for five minutes and fell asleep on her study table.

Peter and Cassie sitting in a class preparing for the debate but they were alone in the whole classroom. Peter kept teasing and irritating her. When Cassie had enough she turned to him and pushed him back. “What fuck is your problem?”

Peter’s nostrils flared and he pinned her to the wall and clenched his jaw. “How dare you push me?”

Cassie looked at him because his perfectly shaped lips inch away from her. A gasp slipped her lips and Peter also felt his heartbeat start to race within a second both felt each other heart beats in sync and Peter pinned her hands to a wall. This was a moment when their animosity turned into a heated moment and Peter’s eyes slowly shifted to her lips. He gradually came close and tilted his head. The next moment Peter’s lips were on Cassie’s lips and it was a slow but intense kiss. Peter parted his lips and nibbled her set of lips enough to make Cassie’s heart raw. Then Peter parted her lips and plunged his tongue down her throat and Cassie started to hear her alarm. Cassie opened her eyes and her hands glued to the wall but there was no Peter and she kept hearing her alarm.

Cassie woke up and she screamed because her neck was hurting so bad. She immediately stood up and dashed to the washroom to freshen up. After getting dressed she wrapped her notes, books, and laptop and stormed out of her room. She went straight into the kitchen where she was expecting her mom but she wasn’t there. Cassie headed to Ruth’s room and she was sleeping. Cassie checked the time and got worried because she never saw her mom in bed after 6 a.m. and it was 6:45 a.m. She walked over to her bed and checked if she was having a fever.

Ruth woke up and sat up. “What time is it?”

Cassie asked. “Are you alright?”

Ruth nodded. “Yeah, I am perfectly fine. Why are you asking?”

Cassie showed her phone. “Because it's 6:45 a.m. and you were sleeping.”

Ruth massaged her neck. “Last night I couldn't sleep well due to my backache.”

Cassie stood up. “Today I’ll come back soon and we’ll go to the doctor because this pain is getting stronger.”

Ruth flicked her hand in the air. “Oh, it's nothing to worry about.”

Cassie picked up her bag and nodded but in mind she made a note to go to the doctor and walked out of the house. At the college, Cassie was thinking about Ruth because her weight has dropped drastically and now she can’t sleep due to her pain. It’s getting difficult for both to make ends meet as Ruth is taking off frequently due to her health issues.

Cassie decided to force her mother to resign from her job so that she could take care of the household. As Cassie arrived at class and laid eyes on Peter, she remembered the dream and realized that this was the first time she had not wanted to kill him. When Cassie saw how attractive he was, her heart began to beat quickly. Something tickled her flesh.

Daniel called her. “Cassie, why are you standing so still?”

Cassie glanced first at Peter, then at Daniel. She questioned how she could have the same feelings for two completely different types of guys. Then she remembered Steven, her heart still fluttering at the mention of his name. Cassie stumbled and nearly fell to the ground, but Peter, who was closer to her than Daniel, caught her and grabbed them in his arms.
