Chapter 52

It was a regular evening when Cassie came back from her work but was shocked to see Steven in her living room. “You are supposed to pack for tomorrow.”

Steven stood up and kissed her. “I am fine, Specs. How are you?”

Cassie rolled her eyes. “What is happening Steven?”

Steven picked her up and placed her on a kitchen island. “I want you to come with me.”

Cassie raised her brows and opened her mouth but Steven shushed her. “Just for two days, Specs. All I am asking you is to take out two days for me and I promise you won’t regret it.”

Cassie cupped his face. “I know but I can’t skip college and leave Mom for two days.”

Steven pulled out his phone from his back pocket. “I knew you would say something like this.” he dialed a number and put the phone on speaker. Peter picked up his phone. Steven asked. “Peter if Specs skip college for two days…”

Peter didn’t let him complete. “Yeah, I will help her to cover for two days.”

Steven smiled. “Thanks, man.” he ended the call and then dialed another number. Like the previous call phone was on speaker. “Yes, Steven I and Ryker will be with Ruth and keep you guys updated.”

Steven smiled and this time he didn’t bother to respond and ended the call. While putting his phone back in a pocket he asked Cassie. “So what do you think now?”

Cassie giggled. “You all team up against me so how could I say no.”

Cassie was about to jump off the island but Steven stopped her. “Where are you going?”

Cassie tilted her head. “I need to tell at work plus pack.”

Steven asked her to check her phone. She opened her bag and it was an email from her work she had been granted two days leave. Cassie’s eyes widened. “How did you do this?”

Steven picked up his collar. “I have my ways.”

After jumping off, Cassie excitedly headed to her room to pack, but she was surprised to find her bag already packed. Cassie’s mouth dropped open and she looked at Steven. “What if I said no?”

Steven leaned in and kissed her. “I meticulously planned everything you had no choice but to say yes.”

Cassie asked. “How do I know you pack everything right?”

Steven sighed. “Daniel did it. Ryker and I did other jobs like talk to Peter and your job and also informed Ruth about it etc etc.”

Cassie was taken aback. “What did mom say about it?”

Steven squared his shoulders."Initially, she wanted Daniel to go with us, but when he explained that you wouldn't leave her without having Daniel by her side, she agreed to send you with me for a change."

Cassie wrapped her arms around Steven. “I am so happy you are trying.”

Steven picked her up and Cassie wrapped her legs around his waist. “Before I met you, I was living a good life, balancing between football and studies. Occasionally, sex with girls feels like a need to fulfill. But since the day I met you, I realized I could be happy and have sex with emotions, not as a need to fulfill.”

Cassie asked. “So you are happy about that night?”

Steven tilted his head. “I would say I am not angry about it. Specs, because of you I started living a happy life so whatever makes you happy I wouldn’t hesitate to try.”

Cassie asked. “What if you try because of me and it doesn’t make you happy?”

Steven shook his head. “Everything makes me happy about you.” he added “If you are done with your interrogation should I pick up your bag and head to the airport?”

Cassie smiled and they had traveled to another city with a few of Steven’s teammates. When they reached the hotel Steven dropped Cassie in the room and headed to practice also promised to have a candle light dinner tomorrow with her. When Steven left Cassie rushed to her bag. She was taken aback because Daniel kept everything she needed. Cassie picked up her phone and dialed him.

“Hope you had a nice flight.” Daniel picked up her call.

Cassie smiled although she knew he was not watching but his voice originated positive and bright vibes inside her. “Yeah, it was nice, and thank you for the perfect packing.”

Daniel giggled. “Anything for you Cass and don’t worry about Ruth I am with her.”

Cassie responded. “I want you to update me whenever needed.”

Daniel suggested Cassie. "Steven is putting a lot of effort into adjusting to all of us and being happy about it, so I would like you to reciprocate his efforts by being good company."

Cassie sighed. “I know and I would do anything to make him realize he didn’t sign up for anything unworthy.”

After talking to Ryker for a few minutes Cassie ended the call and took a shower. She was getting bored so she headed to a nearby shopping mall. She wanted to buy something for Ruth. While roaming around she bumped into a five-year-old boy who was standing alone near the elevator and crying.

Cassie looked here and there and then rushed towards him. She asked him. “What happened?”

He got afraid so Cassie sat on her knees and smiled. “Have you seen my boyfriend?”

He stopped crying and looked at her. “I have lost my mom.”

Cassie curved down her lips and pretended to be sad. “I came here with my boyfriend and now I can’t find him.”

He asked. “What should we do now?”

Cassie taped finger on her chin like she was thinking. “I think we should tell each other our names,” Cassie held out her hand “I am Cassie.”

The boy shook hands. “I am Raven.”

Cassie wiped his tears and pointed at the reception. “I think Raven, we should go to them and ask for help.”

He held out his hand, and Cassie stood up and held it. Both walked toward the reception. They moved them to a nearby police station, and while waiting for his mom, Cassie told him about Steven, and the boy said his father was also a footballer, but he died.
