Chapter 56

Steven after two hours, sitting in a flight thinking about what Elena told him about his Dad. He was running thousands of scenarios in his mind and in none of them able to defend why his Dad did it to him. How could he do this insensitive act to him and Elena? At the same time when he was recalling the time he shared Elena’s pregnancy with his Dad right after that Steven and Elena stopped talking due to some mysterious circumstances.

Steven didn’t think at that time but now he thinks Elena seems truthful. It was his Dad who informed him about the baby loss. Steven couldn’t wait to talk to his Dad and get to know the truth behind his cruel act. He felt like on his way back home he was living those five years. He didn’t know what to do about Cassie.

The moment he reached New York, Steven headed to his Dad’s office because he knew his Dad wouldn’t be at home at that time. Andrew, Steven’s Dad when his eyes landed on Steven. “What is pleasant surprise, son.” he stood up and met Steven.

Steven sighed. “Dad, I need to talk.”

Andrew while signing files. “Yeah, I also want to know about your sudden change of plans, how about we talk over dinner?”

Steven shook his head. “I can’t wait till dinner because I have already lost my five years living a lie.”

Andrew was taken aback but still managed to compose himself and leaned back. “What are you talking about?”

Steven sensed his Dad’s change of demeanor, and now he knew how to confront his Dad. “Remember my ex-girlfriend, Elena?”

Andrew squinted and pretended to recall. “Yeah, I think I remember her the one who lost the baby. Right?”

Steven clenched his jaw. “Actually, it would be easy if you recall her as the one whom you gave 10 million to walk out of my life with my child.”

Andrew stood up. “Do you know, what are you saying?”

Steven remained seated. “I know very well what I am talking about, Dad. It would be good if you could drop this drama and tell me, Why the hell did you do this to me?"

Andrew pointed a finger at him. “Don’t you dare to use such language with me. Don’t forget I am still your Dad and bear your all expenses.”

Steven leaned back and put both his hands on the armrest. “You know when Elena told me about your threat I didn’t believe her but now I am convinced she is right and it was you who snatched my son from me.”

Andrew opened his mouth but Steven raised his hand."I haven't finished yet; the club provides me with sufficient income to lead a comfortable life. If Elena had told me about your threats, I would have left my studies and gotten into the club a long time ago. I never needed your finances; I was fulfilling your dream to complete my degree along with football.”

Andrew sighed. “You are believing that girl and not your Dad. How can you be so sure the son she is raising is yours?”

Steven stood up and this time his tone was harsh. “He is my son and I know it. Elene has shown me the evidence of your 10 million transfer.”

Andrew had nothing to defend himself. Steven continued. “Now I am quitting college as I want to co-parent my son also I am leaving your house so that next time you won’t threaten me with your money.”

Andrew pointed at him. “This…. This is the reason I did all this and paid her enough to have a fresh start in life with her son.”

Steven corrected his Dad. “He was our son, mine and Elena’s so we should have been the ones to make a decision for our son, not you.”

Andrew slumps his shoulders. “I don’t want you to go through what I have gone through in my life because of my teenage naivety.”

Steven shouted. “You could have supported me along with my son rather than plucked him out of my life.”

Andrew in his guilty tone. “All I have ever wanted is a good life for you.”

Steven shook his head. “And to make your wish come true you not only started making decisions for my life but my son’s life as well. You have taken away a Dad from my son, how are you going to make right of this wrong?”

Andrew looked away. “I still believe I haven’t done anything wrong instead of thanking me for protecting you from a miserable life. I know what it feels like when you have a child in your early life.”

Steven while walking towards the door. “It was my call to make and the way you manipulated my life and handled the situation I will never forgive you.”

Andrew called his name. “Steven, your mom has nothing to do with all this don’t punish her.”

Steven turned around. “I am not punishing her and this is your punishment to tell the truth.”

As Steven walked out of Andrew's office, his heart sank as he struggled to understand the brutality his father had inflicted. He immediately called his lawyer and fixed the meeting.

Steven received messages from Daniel and Peter. He told them the whole situation and also instructed them to refrain from telling anything to Cassie as right now his priority is his son. They asked, “Do you love Cassie?”

Steven responded to both. “I never stop loving her but right now I don’t want to think how Cassie would react about it.”

Steven also informed them about his quitting college and the upcoming meeting with a lawyer. Daniel shared this situation with Ryker. No one shared anything with Cassie. On the other hand, Cassie was waiting for Steven’s return because she wanted to tell them about Peter. She was assuming her silence was cheating on all three of her partners.

After two days, Steven met his lawyer and discussed everything regarding his Dad’s offer to Elena and his son’s co-parenting. The lawyer told him it would be better to settle this case outside the court because in this Andrew has chances to be imprisoned or a heavy fine.
