Chapter 67

After waiting for two days, Cassie finally got permission to meet Peter. When she got into his room, his eyes were closed, his lips were swollen, and his arms were bruised. A bandage on his head and plaster on one leg. She whispered his name and Peter opened his eyes slowly.

Peter was taken aback to see Cassie. “You came to meet me?”

Cassie tried to smile and nodded. “Why? Am I not allowed to meet you?”

Peter’s lips curled up but there was a pain on his face. “I never did anything to deserve your visit.”

Cassie sighed. "You're correct; you abandoned me, ignored me, and never bothered to check whether I needed you or not, but the truth is, I'm not like you. I don’t leave my friends when they need me.”

Peter almost whispered. “I am glad you came, babygurl, because the moment I opened my eyes, I wanted to see you.”

Cassie lifted her chin. “Why? Why did you want to see me? Why not your girlfriend?”

Peter didn’t respond; instead, he kept staring at Cassie. She reminded him, "Remember, you have a girlfriend named Riley. Where is she?”

Peter closed his eyes. “Cassie please…”

The nurse interrupted them and told Peter’s girlfriend, Riley, to come meet him. Cassie buried her anger by spreading a bright smile on her face. “Of course, she has every right to meet him.”

Cassie walked out of his room and she stumbled upon Peter's, one of the sisters. Lydia asked. “I thought you were his girlfriend.”

Cassie shook her head and with a rigid face, she pointed inside. “Riley is her girlfriend.”

Lydia shot up her shoulders. “I am not convinced she is his girlfriend because Peter never liked Riley.”

Cassie raised her brows. “How do you know about this?”

Lydia tilted her head. “I am his sister and since childhood, Riley and Peter have been typical enemies. They can’t stand each other even for a second.”

Cassie responded with a confused look on her face. “But he introduced her as his girlfriend to all of us.”

Lydia sighed. “I don’t know what is going on in his life maybe this was the reason he got into this horrible accident.”

Cassie realized since she got to know about his accident she never asked how did it happen. She asked Lydia. “What do you mean?”

Lydia explained to her that Peter got into an accident due to his lack of focus on the road. The authorities charged him heavily and advised him not to drive until he sorted out his inner turmoil. Cassie excused Lydia and walked out of the hospital.

A month had passed and Peter came home. Peter told Ryker that he will confessed his love for Cassie as he realized his mistake. Peter is now willing to atleast give it a try with Cassie. Ryker told him to think again as he had already broken her heart once.

Peter raised his brow. “So did you?”

Ryker raised his finger at him. “Hey, I am here to comfort you so stop firing at me.”

Peter raised his hands in surrender. “All I am saying is do you think Cassie will give me a chance after breaking her heart into thousand pieces? I have been bothing but an ass to her, I didn’t even comfort her when Ruth died. Do you think she would forgive me?”

Ryker stood up. “There is only one way to see and you know it.”

Peter asked. “Where are you going?”

Ryker looked at him. “Diana and your sisters are out of the city so I am going out to grab lunch for us as I am terrible at cooking but I am excellent at picking food from outside.”

Ryker walked out of his place and peter heard the doorknock when he opened the door Cassie was standing a flare nostrils…

Cassie walked out of the college and saw something that gave her the shock of her life. Riley kissing that same guy Cassie has been watching her with being over-friendly for days. The kiss was intense enough to explain to her what was going on between them. Cassie was right all the time Riley was cheating on Peter with that guy.

Cassie walked over to her and cleared her throat. “You should be decent enough to break up with Peter and then let another guy plunge his tongue down your throat.”

Riley took a deep breath and mumbled something that Cassie was unable to understand. “Could you please turn the notch up?”

Riley looked into her eyes. “I have enough of this drama.”

Cassie squinted. “Excuse me?”

Riley nodded. “Yeah, you should be smart enough to notice I am not Peter’s girlfriend infact I have been his girlfriend. He has been paying me to act as his girlfriend in front of you.”

Cassie didn’t see that coming. “What ?”

Riley showed her irritation. “Oh please, stop acting being surprised. You have always known Peter loves you and he is only pretending to be my boyfriend to push you away for God knows the reason.”

Cassie asked. "then why the fuck you came to meet Peter in hospital?"

Riley yelled. "to tell him I don't need his fucking money anymore and I am done with this drama."

Cassie was speechless. Riley blinked her eyes and held the guy’s hand. “If you excuse us.” Riley and that guy walked away and Cassie was watching them like a mannequin. When she regained her senses she headed to Peter’s. She knocked on his door and Peter opened the door. “What a pleasant surprise, come in.”

Cassie didn’t say a word and Peter failed to notice. “How did you know about my place?”

Cassie looked at him and still not saying a word. Peter squinted and waved at her. “Hello, are you alright?”

Cassie removed the distance between them, slipped her hand between his neck and shoulder and kissed him. Peter held her in his arms and kissed her back by splitting her lips and pushing his tongue into her mouth. Cassie’s other hand moved between Peter’s legs and he started caressing his essence through his trousers. Peter cursed while kissing her hard.
