Chapter 17
After experimenting with Ricky, Cassie was unsure of what she ought to do regarding Ryker, she decided to stay away from him for a few days. She needed to take some time to reflect on what was going on with her. What on earth was it that made her feel attracted to three different guys at once? Up to the time she joined Elite, she had never been in a relationship with any guy. She was known as a nerdy Cassie or scholar Cassie until her high school. Now here in two weeks, her life has changed and she kissed three guys.
Professor Glen during the lecture stopped explaining because his eyes landed on Cassie and she was looking at the wall without blinking. Professor Glen walked over to Cassie and stood next to her but she didn’t know about it. The whole class started to laugh but Cassie was still the same. Professor Glen snapped his fingers and Cassie was taken aback and there was loud laughter in the whole class. Cassie looked at Professor and blabbered which he didn’t understand.
Professore Glen asked. “Where were you?”
Cassie stammered. “I… I was listening to your lecture.”
Professore glen asked. “Then tell me when Shakespear moved to London?”
Cassie opened her mouth but she didn’t know what to answer as she wasn’t listening instead she was thinking about her confused desires. The professor asked the class. “Anybody like to answer my question?”
Peter raised his hand. “Somewhere between the late 1580s and the early 1590s, Shakespeare moved to London.”
Professor pointed at him and smiled. “Excellent.” then looked at Cassie “When you are in class your focus should be in class.”
Cassie was embarrassed, she looked at Peter and she smirked. When she looked at Daniel he raised his brows and shrugged his shoulders to ask what was wrong with her.
After the class, Cassie didn’t want to talk about her daydreaming so before Daniel said anything she. “How long you are going to give this extra tuition service?"
Daniel smiled. “All thanks to you, I was unable to even talk to Rita in these two years and now I talk to her daily, and not only that she waits for me to join her.”
Cassie noticed that Daniel's cheeks were beginning to turn pink because he was blushing. Cassie wasn't happy with Daniel's involvement with any other girl, but she managed to keep her composure even though she was uncertain whether it was love or hormones.
Cassie responded. “You didn’t answer my question?”
Daniel shot up his shoulders. “I don’t know Cassie because Maths is not Rita’s strong suit.”
Cassie nodded. “Alright then I’ll go for my law class.” she waved to him and walked away with a pain in her heart.
Cassie saw Ryker standing in a corridor with his gang but Rita was not with them, she immediately turned around and took the longer route to get to her law class. She got into class where Professor Gabriel was already waiting for students to come. Cassie thought she entered the wrong class but the professor stopped her. “You are in the right class, go grab your seat.”
Cassie looked at Professor Gabriel. “I came for my law class here and you are my history professor.”
Professor Gabriel smiled. “I am going to fill in for Professor Raymond because he had some medical emergency,” Professor Gabriel raised his hand towards chairs “So you can sit.”
Cassie nodded and sat on the first chair she found not taken. Since the day Professor Gabriel parted Ryker and her during the fight, she didn’t have a chance to apologize to him as her first impression was not good and she is embarrassed about it. Cassie cleared her throat and Professor Gabriel looked at her. “Professor I have been wanting to apologize to you for the day you found me fighting with Ryker.”
Professor crossed his arms. “You should not apologize for something…”
Ryker knocked on the door, Cassie and Professor Gabriel looked at him. “Professor if class has not started yet so can I talk to Cassie for a moment?”
Professor Gabriel was shocked but he nodded and Ryker called Cassie outside. Cassie didn’t want to make a scene so she sighed and walked out of the class. Ryker asked with a straight face. “Why the fuck you are avoiding me?”
Cassie pretended. “What are you talking about?”
Ryker pointed a finger at her. “Don’t play this dumb game with me, Cass.”
Oh fuck he called me Cass for the first time anyone gave a nickname to my already nickname. Cassie felt a ball of heat between her legs and she all of a sudden started to feel thorns in her throat. Cassie swallowed her saliva to soothe her throat. Cassie started to scratch under her chin. “I am confuse Ryker.”
Ryker flared his nostrils. “How many times do I have to clear my intentions?”
Cassie looked the other way. “It’s not about you, it’s about me you God dammit.”
Ryker asked. “What about you?”
Cassie whined. “I can’t tell you, this is something very personal.”
Ryker shook his head. “Don’t make lame excuses Cass, we both know that kiss was meant to be.”
Cassie looked here and there. “Would you please stop saying that out loud?”
Ryker asked. “Why, why you don’t want to talk about it? Or do you think it was the heat of the moment?”
Cassie pointed at him. “Yes, yes it was something like this.”
Ryker grabbed her arms. “Cassie I never took anyone to the race ever and no one ever hugged me and cheered for me after the win. I don’t know why it's difficult for you to understand that there is something between us.”
Cassie moved his hands away from her. “There is nothing between us.”
Ryker came close to her. “Look me in the eye and say you didn’t feel the spark when we kissed?”
Before Cassie responded Ryker and Cassie heard “What you kissed him as well?”
Cassie and Ryker turned to see and it was Steven standing in front of them. Ryker looked at Cassie and asked. “What does he mean?”
Cassie closed her eyes and prayed please God make this situation my bad dream but it was not a dream because Ryker shook her and asked. “Did you kiss Steven before me or after me?”
Cassie sighed and opened her eyes. “Remember what I just told you that it's not about you it's about me?”
